It is a hot summer day and you're stopping at a mall or shopping center to shop. You realize that the car you parked beside has a dog shut up in it. What do you do?

Make a fuss. In the way, it will attract people's attention. Once they have gathered around, use something to break the window glass. The reason for calling in the crowd is that they can act as witness in the event the car owner want to refute your observation and instead sue you for damaging the car.

First I would check whether any windows were left open for air and, as far as is possible, see whether the animal had water. If no window was open (or not enough), I would look for the owner of the car. If they are not in the immediate vicinity, I would call the police. Our police are very helpful when it comes to pets locked in cars with all the windows up because it is a criminal offence to leave an animal in such a condition.

I'd call 911. If they couldn't get there in a few minutes, I'd break into the car.
