I'm deciding on a good affordable laptop for my mother. A netbook looks very good and perfect. But I don't know much about it. Tell me, please, what is a netbook capable of? My mother wants internet, email, youtube, to listen to music, to watch movies, to store pictures and files. Is a netbook good for this?

From what I know from my daughter's BF (who's a PC expert) netbooks are slower than laptops - less powerful. I was advised to get one so I can take my work out with me (I'm a writer) but if I wanted a fully working PC with music, video amd graphics capability, I'd go for a laptop. But that's just me.
Netbooks can be a bit hard on the eyes, too, as the screen is smaller. You might need to consider this for your mum.

A net book is basically a smaller laptop. it normally goes slower then a full laptop but they have good battery life and are good fro people who are on the run a lot. they are much cheaper then full laptops and normally have about 1 gb ram (computer speed) compared to 2-3 ram with laptops
in short if you aren't going to be gaming then a net book is perfect. its cheap and can hold its own. i recommend Acer they have nice net books hope i helped and good luck.
