I have been saving alot of money, just by changing a few habits.I do washing every day and there are sometimes six loads of washing that i do.I have been saving money by hanging linen on the line when it is sunny, aswell as hanging linen in my consevatory and under my gazebo.I am now saving twenty pounds a week by not using my dryer to get the linen dry.Well im not hanging the linen my husband is,lol.

I like to hang my clothes, especially in the winter. We have hung a rack above my washer and dryer, i hang clothes on plastic hangers and when the furnace runs it drys my clothes quite quickly. I run a heater in the winter instead of heating my whole house with the furnace. We are comfortable in the rooms we use. I grow a garden and can and freeze for winter.

Its good to hear that. Dont you know that by doing that, you also help our environment? By not using electricity, you save money and you also help in lessening global warming? I'd like to share a link on helping our environment - http://bhemtot.blogspot.com/2009/12/things-to-do-to-stop-global-warming.html I also save too! I wash my own car. Limit my usage of appliances and also computers. I am an advocate of helping and promoting environmental protection awareness. Thanks and happy mylotting!

Hi jugs, due to the announcement of price rise of sugar, flour and gasoline a couple of months back, all the foods and drinks served in the stalls and outlets rise accordingly. My husband likes to take breakfast and evening tea out. For the purpose of cutting down the unnecessary expenses I persuade him to take our homemade breakfast or to get the take-away foods as well as desserts and enjoy eating them at home. To brew our own coffee frequently at home we have saved quite some expenses for not eating breakfast and having our evening teatime out. Here we have sunny days almost daily all the year round. We rather like to dry our clothes on the outdoor lines instead of using clothes dryer machine. It's worth to be frugal by doing the to hang and to clip clothes chore daily. At the moment we don't depend on the clothes dryer machine except in rainy day. We are happy to save money after shaking off some appropriate habits Have a nice day

it should be changing the inappropriate habit instead of appropriate. Thanks!

Congratulation. Saving money does not mean we are living in frugal. Often it means living healthier. By hanging linen on the line you are doing more works than just put them in a dryer - there you do more exercises. By cooking ourselves than eating out - we do works thus exercises and eat healthier foods. It is good to save money. I wish I can start doing all hings to save money.

That is actually a really good point, jennyze! You do get a bit of excersize when you hang laundry like that too, which is really a very nice bonus. I never thought of that before, so thanks for pointing that out!

I have also saved money by buying food in the market or grocery rather than eating in fast food or restaurants. They put a lot of extra charges on top of the taxes. So by doing this I have saved a lot of money.

Not to mention they put too many msg in the food. Yes. It is better to cook ourselves.

That's true. We don't even know if the food was cooked properly or not, right? By cooking it ourselves, we'll definitely know it's prepared properly.

Good for you. You're so right, changing habits can save money. Recently I cleaned out my wallet and found 5 Acme market receipts that had a $2.00 coupon for taking a short srve. In 2 cases, I even took the darn srvey and recorded the code BUT I forgot to use the coupons at the store. That was $12.00 off any grocery item that I just threw away. What a waste! I'm going to change my habit of putting receipts into my wallet and forgetting about them.

I do this a lot in the summer time. I enjoy the way that the clothes smell when they are outside on the line. I also think that it does save a lot of money on the electric bill. I believe that we all need to be a little more frugal these days. I live on a small hobby farm and I am checking into homesteading a lot more now. I hope to become a lot more self sufficient so that I can cut back on a lot of bills.

I think with the thing that you are doing right now, you can definitely save money. I do agree with you that changing certain habits could really help in saving money. I have been using the airconditioner at my room most of the time, plus I ride my care toward work. Well, if ever, I would do some sacrifice, like not using the airconditioner and perhaps ride on public transportation, I would surely save money. But of course, this would entail sacrifice. I like to turn on the airconditioner since its hot in our place and having the airconditioner, would surely make me comfortable after a tiring day of work.. Likewise, driving my car, would save me time on travel... Perhaps there is always a price that we have to pay for those comforts.. but surely a change of those and other things would surely help save money, and of course entails sacrifice.

I'm also trying to be thrifty as much as other people do to save so you can spent it on the most needed things we have to acquire in life. as for me, I try to save by not getting a maid to do all the houseworks. It hurts in the pocket to pay someone to do the job when I can do it on my own. I'm just alone in the house with my 3 children. I patiently teach them to save water, electricity, and don't spend on something they don't really need.

It is amazing how much you can save by hanging out the wash. Even in the winter we hang the wash inside the house. It can be a pain at times and it would be alot easier to just throw it in the dryer but I like the idea of saving that money! What else are you doing to save money?

Yes, saving money is always a good thing! We regularly hang clothes out to dry. We also use a cistern type deal to catch rainwater off the roof so we can use it for watering the garden and other plants instead of drawing on the well pump which costs electricity. I raise some vegetables in my garden instead of buying them constantly at the grocery store. And I have a compost pile that I use for potting soil instead of buying it.

Switching off lights, using a jacket, turning off the tap when brushing teeth - these kinds of things I do to reduce our household bills. I will try to eat out less (try :P ), go out less so I'm less tempted to buy things I don't even need, remind myself I already have everything I NEED, I'll try to only spend on the things I need like shampoo and food and I'll try to eat less but that doesn't work half the time eating just feels tooo good :)
