Done what? you ask. Well, he did the TRICK! What trick? ask the newcomers... Pong jumped in my ARMS today! - I'm so PROUD of my Pong-ster! I love Pong, but I've never considered him the clever one - that was always Ping, but Pong did the TRICK! Needless to say, I made a big deal out of him! I was talking to the roommate when Pong came inside from the porch. He went around the little table and jumped on the floor and went over and looked at the roomie, then he turned around and looked up at me. I knew he wanted a pet, and I thought he might stand up on his back legs and reach up, but instead he gathered himself and LAUNCHED! He made it ALMOST as high as Rygel, at LEAST as high as Oliver and I made a lots of praise and pets for him! Now I know, he's not really dumb, and if he wants a pet bad enough, he'll jump up and GET it too! I'm so proud of him. Just to remind folks, last summer we had to have Pong's teeth pulled, so obviously no hard feelings there! Any new stuff from you neck of the woods? (or net for that matter)

Poor KitKat is not too happy with me, I'm giving her antibiotics twice a day, bad scratch on her nose. Ironically, it happened AFTER all the cats had their claws trimmed. I had a cat, Little Bit, who used to launch himself into my arms. Now that cat knew how to shmuse!!!

poor baby (that was our Kit's real name BTW) and they do seem to inflict worst wounds on each other when the nails are trimmed! Rygel's been doing it for a while and Oliver at least a year - but now Pong - I may have flying cats by the time they all figure it out!

Hurrah for Pong! We've had workmen in and out of the house all week. Our cat, Sleepy, has been very good. For the most part, he has stayed out of their way and has never even offered to go outside. FYI: The shower door on the bath in the master bedroom was broken, and we also had a terrible time with mildew there. That bathroom had to be completely redone. After the old shower was torn out, we found out that the reason that we had mildew was because there was a leak in the drain. Everything in that bathroom will be new, but the bathroom that I use only gets a new paint job.

of course your bath only gets a paint job, but at least you could live in the house while the work was being done - I had to find another place to live while my house was being done - not only didn't I have a bathroom or kitchen, but not a lot of anything else either - and still needed a place for my 6 cats! one of whom HATED all the rest!

most of the remodel I could put the one in a room that the other 5 weren't in - but on a few times, I had to put them together, the other 5 were pretty disinterested in her and she had them all keeping their distance!

How did you resolve the problem of the cat who didn't like other cats? I didn't tell you about last night when my husband slept on a pallet on the living room floor because the entrance to the master bedroom was being tiled. I already had the small bed in the computer room. I thought he would sleep in his recliner. He sleeps so well there during the day.

I have enough Siamese mix that will talk when they feel like it - Rygel (the white eared cat in my avatar) was doing that last night, it was like: "Mow" "What?" "Mow" "What?" "Rwow" "WHAT?"

hi elicBxn good for Pong so he is smart too, and just wanted a big petting like Ping. You have such fun with all your cats and I could have one but I would be charged an extra hundred 'dollars a month on the rent. If I had that much I would do it of course. Nothing new or exciting here today. we played bingo but we do that a lot. But there's no bad news either'and I just mailed my two bills, so now I only have twelve dollars left but I am not in debt. lol lol lol.

some of them do, some are just happy cats and some just love their "meowmies" Ping and Pong and their sister were found in a box dumped out on the side of a road as babies, I'm sure they don't remember it, but I do, and Pong has been very clingy since he was sick last year...

Good for Pong! My new Tuxedo kitten learned today that he can launch himself from the counter onto my head (I am only 5 feet tall). Since I had my back to him at the time, I was kind of startled, to say the least. Not sure how I feel about this trick, especially since he landed with his claws digging into my scalp. Well, it beats his last trick--climbing up your back while you are sitting down. This one is particularly pleasant when you are only wearing a bathing suit. . .!

yeah, if I hadn't caught him, he had his claws in my shirt, so it wouldn't have been fun - but I was watching him, and its getting so I'm afraid to not look at the cats because I might suddenly have one jumping at me!

I'm happy to say, that while Timus will jump from counters or chairs, he doesn't jump DOWN on me! my mom had a cat named Suki

I know what you mean--my other kitten, Sookie, likes to pounce from her favorite perch--the top of the refrigerator!

I can just picture this happening. I guess this is the origin of the word "copy cat"? He could be copying a lot worse things.

The other day and once before, several months ago, Banjo jumped up at me and used his claws to hang on above my waist. It seemed to me to be an act of aggression, either that or desperation to go outside but both times, he was several hours off his going outside time which is nightfall. Usually if he wants something it's when I'm sitting at the computer and he comes and rolls around in front of me and sprawls out for a cuddle but he sometimes he wants more food. These jumping episodes have taken me by surprise both times...what are your thoughts? He used to sit in my lap quite happily and was happy for me to hold him till one day a neighbour was visiting. We sat out on the front patio having coffee and Ben picked Banjo up and Banjo struggled to get away and Ben held on more tightly. Ever since then Banjo has not wanted to be held. I'm a bit at a loss as to what to make of this behaviour. When he's jumped at me, his eyes have been wide open and he has meowed loudly as he jumps...does he want me to catch him? Why else would he do this, any clues??

He's let me hold him briefly a couple of times and I try to put him down before he struggles, so he knows there's no need to be anxious or feisty at all. That's had a 50% success rate. If I have to go get him in the morning when it's time to come in, he will let me carry him home and it can be quite a distance...he acts like Lord Muck! The wild look he gets in his eyes I thought meant he was desperate to go potty but he doesn't go. I then shut him into my room and he goes to sleep for the next few hours till it's time to go out. He used to use the kitty litter quite happily and now he only uses it when he absolutely has to. He's quite good at communicating his needs/wants but this one has me stumped.

sounds like he does want to be caught - I would start watching for the signs he is going to do it and try catching him. If he does, and you do, give him lots of praise and pets, but, because this friend held him against his will, let him down as soon as he asks. I had a cat, The Doctor, who hated to be held, so while I would pick him up, I would always let him down instantly when he wanted down, it meant that soon he'd decide that being held didn't mean being grabbed and held against his will.

Harmony's taken up flying... to the top of the refrigerator! As if it isn't hot enough outside! For a while there she would sit on the back of the vacuum cleaner (like those hallowe'en witches cats do on their brooms). I told her it wasn't going anywhere. I just don't know what I'm going to do with that girl.

oh, I think I normally have a cat on top of a fridge or freezer, they do take short cuts tho, counters, tables, lawnmower box....

Clever Pong! I wish my Hewy would do that! He stays in my arms when I pick him up in the evenings and we watch TV together but he will not jump on my lap when I’m sitting down let alone when I’m on my feet! My other cat had a couple of breakthroughs this year. She was an abused cat when we rescued her and consequently has been very timid. Lately she has been approaching me and let me pat her and she no longer hides when the door bell rings!

I had one of those, run when the doorbell rings or even OPENED! but I came in enough he stopped and made sure it was me first, now he doesn't run at all... Yeah, there are times when I wish I had a few fewer cats wanting to be held...

Congratulations on getting Pong to do the trick! I never had a cat that would jump up, but I did have one that would climb up. Luckily, I never wore dresses and rarely shorts. That would have hurt quite a bit if I had. When he got older an heavier he quit climbing . Then he would just stand on his back legs and I would pick him up. He did that quite often as he never thought he was getting enough attention.

I wish I knew how Rygel learned to do it, but obviously Oliver and Pong learned it from him!
