India is no doubt a cricket crazy country but sports media here are always overexcited .Its not that media in other countries dont criticize their players but its never blown out of proportion . 3-4 years back when India did beat England in a test series that time i read a local newspaper in which there was big article criticizing english team but they still wrote that they have the ability to bounce back and hence will come back strongly, its not like in UK or ant other country people dont sensationalize the loss or win in cricket but i strongly feel Indian media does it too much.Dhoni has been a bad boy for Indian media always as he ignores or loses his temper at times but he has a reason to do so , its justified or not is a different issue. If some player is big and captain of the country, to target him just to make a breaking news or controversy out of nothing is not correct. He was a national hero when India won the world cup but after-wards when he tried to get some new players in place of legends like Ganguly and Dravid suddenly he was just made villan and it was shown as if he has tiff with every senior player except Sachin .He won IPL he was called best t20 captain , after one week when India lost in t20 world cup there were voices in media that he should quit as captain of India.I think patience is the key here.First media itself makes these guys hero when they win, and when they lose media starts to get personal and try to make stories out of nothing, stories like after loss to NZ by 200 runs Dhoni was spotted with his wife roaming around , so he is here for honeymoon not cricket.I think we all have seen quite stupid news where players are called traitors ,arrogant and much more.Yesterday a news channel was showing news that Indian team is too depressed , they are afraid to talk to media and all that. Now why Dhoni or any other player is ignoring Indian media ? because they are afraid? no , its because it has been a habit of some of the reporters to just ask some questions just to make Dhoni loses temper or make some controversy .If he or some player says we played bad , they will make the new that moral of team is totally down and we have no chance in next match , if they say it was bad umpiring or pitch was not upto expectations , news will come they are making excuses .So its better to avoid and Dhoni and other players are doing exactly that.Even if they lose this useless tournament its not a big deal but calling players traiotrs etc is not correct.Mdeia needs to be responsible and have some patience. Please share your views.

I think our media over does the things here in India. In fact, these days I do not watch the news for facts. I watch it if I am bored just like a soap opera. The views mentioned on it are very convoluted and twisted to create unnecessary controversies. In all the talk shows the mediators job is just to pit one person against the other. But what is the outcome of all these talk shows nothing. None of these really give a solution to the problem but are only loose talk!! It is time that we as viewers start ignoring such programs. Once the TRPs drop, the media will change itself. Cheers! Ram

Well, i can see most of us feel that our media indeed is the real villian. But i could see one more point in the discussion; In India, cricket is a religion, its a passion and its worship in every corner. And I think our so called players also know it pretty clearly. Still they would do things to come to news and media. Lets not forget that every coin has two sides. Let's not compare IPL with T20 world cup. He is a versatile person, no doubt about it. But like a true champion he should also contribute. I have seldom seen Dhoni contribute the way he used to do before being promoted as the captain of indian cricket team. Media will do the things which brings hype and sensation. its not only in india, its everywhere!!!

Hi, INDIA is always a cricket crazy country. There are so many rumors spread by the newspapers .They often target the captain of any team.If the team performance was down, then they will start blaming the captain ,instead of other players. Not only him, there have been many other players ignoring the press conference.DHONI was very much upset on his team's performance. He is also not in a good form. These are the key reasons for his ignorance. So I he was afraid to attend the press meet.He said in his quote that "nothing worked for the team".

Cricket in India is elevated to such status that we worship the cricketers like Gods. Indian cricketers take there place for granted, win a tournament and they think every other game is a cake walk. We can't blame the media in all this, what about in the La Liga where the Spanish media is all equally hyped up about their sport stars? The National team still performs, they've been friggin consistent, and what more they brought the world cup home. Watching Dhoni's side play cricket is frustrating because they're more concerned they have no commitment and it clearly translates in the field.
