Yeah I know I could put this in the "mylot members" category but this is a discussion I really want people to think on. I have come across a member to whom seems to like to annoy people. I have found a discussion wherein they explained why they do the things they do, but I still don't see it as justified. I know there are a few people on here who annoy others but for fun, and it's all in good fun... However this one person just seems to like to see what people's reactions would be? They even said so themself, that they are on mylot to see what other's reactions would be based on what they say on a response or comment. To me that's just abuse, but I wanted the opinions of others... What do you think?

I think there is a great difference bewteen those of us who have fun among friends that we know, allbeit though our posts on here, and those who come here just to be nasty. I have seen posts recently which are so borderline and the user posting them sure has a strange way of getting their fun. Belittling others is not to be done, here or anywhere else and if it turns into abuse then it should be reported.

That was my 'feel' too of late. It seems that there were not many 'right places' to look at Maybe it's the weather, offline tensions or too many earthquakes and volcanos spitting. Soon be Christmas and the spirit will change

I have seen many of these kinds of "borderline" posts on here recently, too. Sometimes I think that they are done to be funny, and other times I am not entirely sure that they are not completely serious. In either case, the mood on here recently has not been very good. I understand that everything can't always be fun and light-hearted, but usually there is a good mix of discussions that will satisfy the mood of just about anybody, but lately there doesn't seem to be as much of a "mix" as there usually is ... although, it might just be me, and I am not looking in the right places.

Maybe we can generate an "earthquake" of our own and turn the tide back towards the good, positive and fun type of discussions ...

I know that a while back there was a person that just seemed to want to be rude and stir up trouble. This person kept saying that they wanted "real" reactions and "real" discussions, but when anyone tried to debate with facts this person just retreated and ignored the people that really were trying to debate rather than just stir up trouble and get everyone arguing. I have not seen this person on here lately, and I believe that they canceled their account. I think that people that just want to be mean and rude for the sake of getting reactions or because they think it is fun should try another "hobby" or "interest". Maybe they could start poking hornets nests with sticks or something to see what their reaction would be ...

I wonder if that person is still around If that's how those types get their kicks I guess they wouldn't give up quite so quickly as that one appears to have done.

Oh there are many of those. Some don't realise that even if they change the clothes the model is still the same and they are so obvious - even more so when they don't want to be noticed

Perhaps that person is just "reincarnated" in another persona on here and up to his (or her) "old" tricks ...

Oh sometimes I make a remark to get a reaction, but generally it's to a person that I know is going to be OK with it. And it's not all I do on here, sometimes I'm very flippant, and other times I'm very serious, and everything in between. But somebody who is always like that would annoy me too!

I have come across many people like that in my time at MyLot. You just have to ignore them. If they annoy you so much, you should block them so that you would never see anything that they'd posted again. Some people actually don't understand that they're annoying people when they post things, and they just so happen to put their opinions to people in different ways than others. Generally, people who are like that on the internet are usually unpopular and shy during real life- and they make themselves feel a lot better by acting like that on the internet.

You can't block someone on here. Once you post a discussion, then it is open for all to respond to, and you can't keep people out of your discussions or response boxes. Similarly, you can view any of the discussions here regardless of who started them. The only way to avoid a person on here is to not have him or her on your friends list, which reduces the possibility that either of you will see discussions started by the other, and by simply ignoring any discussions, comments or responses by the person that is annoying you.

Cowgirl- Why does this not surprise me? I think they exist everywhere from Mylot to Myspace. I'm beginning to truly think, though I hate to commit Ageism, that it's simply teens with nothing better to do. That or they are using this for one of their pysch projects. (Though I sort of doubt that last one). I agree with the others that this person should be reported, especially if they came out and admitted to being contrary just to get a reaction out of people. There are far better ways to debate. Other than that, I suggest simply ignoring them and encouraging others to do the same. I realize there are quite a few who like the "fight", but it's not worth it to feed the trolls. It simply inflates their already inflated egos and hurts those who may not wish to 'fight'. As far as it being abuse, I sincerely agree that it is a form of verbal abuse. Though, I'm not truly sure how one would go about prosecuting someone online for verbal abuse other than to simply print the transcripts, turn them over their local authority, and let the professionals handle it. Just be safe. Never provide information that would allow a person to find you, or your loved ones. Do not make verbal thrats yourself as that could be used against you especially if you threatened harm. (I'm not saying you do, but for sake of discussion). Hopefully, if this person is ignored long enough they will simply leave Mylot and move along. Namaste-Anora

I think that there are alot of people that will try to get other peoples backs up on her, aswell as any where else they can get a reaction, but if you give them any kind of reaction then they just carry on,as they are getting a response.People like that i tend to ignore as much as i can,as that way they tend to get rather bored.

I would have to see the discussions, but believe me, if I thought it was abusive, I would report it, even if I was not the target of the pest. No need for that.

Sounds like a person on my friend list. But I doubt the person I'm thinking of would actually admit it. So I probably don't know who you're talking about. I guess one can only go by a discussion and response basis. If it really does get to be abuse, then reporting it is a good thing to do. I mean everyone doesn't hesitate to report poll discussions, why should they hesitate to report people who are verbally abusive? An please people, bear in mind I don't know who she's talking about, so no lambasting, okay?!

Hi SCG! I am with you and I do not like such users who tease, scare or mock others for 'their fun'. There is very thin line between fun and teasing and here it gets difficult to distinguish between the two, specially, when two users are not good friends and know about each other.

There is one who really used to annoy me but I don't see this member on or this member doesn't answer mine because this member finally got the idea. Then there is another one that used to have one name and this member was deleted or something and have come back with another username. I try very hard not to respond to this member but when I do I am honest and try to use tact which I am not all that good at doing. I do try. Not sure who you are talking about but these are the only two that irritate me.

That Mylot memeber needs to report for abuse to admistration! I think that is the right thing to do! I can't believe there is someone on Mylot who only joined to be a jerk! Unbelievible! That is not good! I have not come across this person but if I did I would report them! Mylot doesn't need people like that on this site! I hope they are thrown off Mylot!

She really cannot name that person in a discussion. It is against the TOS to draw attention to another user. Now, if she were to choose to PM you with a name, that would be different.

I agree. I come on here to answer questions that I know I can give advice to. I also come on here to look for advice. I think that if someone comes on here to annoy others should be banned from here and should not get paid. With the economy being bad and many people looking for ways to help their income people come on here because mylot pays.

I suppose that we all do that to an extent, but not to deliberately annoy or test. There are some sad people about. Then you only have to walk down the street or open a newspaper to realise that.Just have a look at this to realise what people can be like. She cannot be prosecuted, but hopefully that will not matter as she will meet a tiger one night in a dark alley... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1305458/Facebook-protest-woman-cat-wheelie-bin-gets-police-protection.html#ixzz0xYLaqzvY Yet someone CAN be prosecuted for selling a goldfish to someone under 16. Bring back stocks.
