We have so many people who have never needed food stamps before who need them now. I have never had them, but I have watched others trying to handle all the choices that come with that program. Only certian products are covered. Now it appears the state has made it even more of a hassle. They have coupons and have to figure which food fit which coupons. I do understand the state wanting to do this, that way the people can only buy so much of any given item. They can't buy 20 boxes of crackers, because they only have a coupon for 3. And I know the state is trying to make these people eat better food, but it makes for a big hassle at the check out and many people are already upset that they find themselves haveing to use this service. There should be a better way to handle this and leave the people with a sense of pride.

It can't be done. Whenever a strong person is forced to take charity there can be no pride. That's why we aren't all on food stamps! I know what you mean, though. I woman ahead of me in the grocery store was buying some baby food and its size didn't conform with the requirements. It was off by an ounce or two. The store didn't have the proper size so in the end the cashier just rang it up to conform with the requirements. I thought that was ridiculous, requiring a certain size. What if the bigger size lasted longer and was cheaper?! The government is a power hungry, controlling insane monster.

We don’t have food stamps in Australia. What we do have is coupons for some to approach local charities and obtain certain foods. I am not familiar with the system in your country but it does sound like a hassle and one that is difficult to manage.

I wish I could get food stamps in my home. I make too much money and I struggle everday to feed my family.

I think that is on the verge of taking things too far. Now, I had both WIC and food stamps when my daughter was very small because I wasn't married at the time and I was able to get them. I knew that I would be paying taxes that would cover these things for the rest of my life, so I may as well accept the help while I was able to do it. That said, the WIC vouchers did tell us exactly what we were to buy, but there are more people in our state that are eligible for that than for food stamps, but there were never any guidelines on what we were able to buy with our EBT card. I think telling people what they have to eat is the wrong way to go about things.
