Encouraging Beggars????

In my daily life i come across many beggars in my daily life, around temples or many eateries. As i pass beggars(especially children) gather around me expecting me to give some money, which i do give sometimes. I do feel pity on them and always ask god why this difference. Though i never got the answer, i always feel that i should give them some money. If you come across them sometimes, What do you do? do you give them the money and watch the other beggars gathering around you or do you just pass silently. Do you think giving them the money encourage them???

I use to so casually give and whether or not the small donations I made went to good or bad I did not care. I felt I was helping someone else and if they did not help themselves well there would not be many like me. Unfortunately though I have been hit with some really bad financial times and I cannot afford to give anymore as sometimes I do not have even for me. I feel really bad that I have to look the other way, but God knows I just do not have to give. So if anytime I come across some lucky earning or unexpected few dollars I will make sure I share a bit with the people who need it. Hopefully someday I can go back to sharing as I use to as I was very proud of helping others and I know one particular person I use to help and have no longer been able to do so.

I'm also very sad, if I saw a beggar around me. But giving money to them, did not seem appropriate action. If I find a beggar, I asked him, you ask for money for what? if he responded to eat, I'll buy him groceries. I do not know whether my action was right, but if given the money seems to be in vain.

So far, i have not given any money to beggars. I'm kinda heartless to them.. haha =D Even if they are handicapped or bringing a small kid around, i will ignore them, or look at them, taking out some coins, but keeping it in the other pocket of mine again!! lol =D I admit i'm bad to be treating them like that, but too bad, some fake beggars around are giving them the bad name, of pretenders, or want some easy money.

Yes, I do pity beggars but not all. I used to give them money before, but when I saw a child after receiving the money I saw him gambling with the other street children, that came into my mind that giving money is not useful. From then on, I better give them something in kind like food. I also give to disabled beggars but not those I assumed just taking advantage to some people like us to feel pity for them. And yes, sometimes, we are the one encourage those beggars,so instead of giving money, better to give them something in kind.

I do not encourage begging. However, if the world in unfair, there will be beggars. so, I do not begrudge them begging. The authorities must take them in and try to take care of them. If not, then let them go into the streets to fend for themselves. What I dislike are professional beggars which are syndicated. They are con beggars!

I do give a few dimes to beggars.., and my mother used to scold me for being so generous.., she told me that i will have to assess the beggars who are deserving for each hard earned penny i hand to them.., i shouldn't be giving a single dime to those beggars who look healthy enough to find a job..., so i ended up giving only to those who are paralyzed and blind and those very old beggars..i don't give to those beggars who tags along their babies just to gain sympathy..i hate them.., and i pity their babies who are used as props just to earn a few coins..=(

hi sunnyblogs I am not in India but am an American from C alifornia and we do not have the type of beggars you do as its against the law here to beg money from people. If I see a street person who wants money I will take them and feed them at the nearest cafe or restaurant.I would not give money to beggars if I was in India as I belive they only take it to some one else in charge of t hem. Professional begging is out for me.

When I pass a beggar and I have some money to spare I will give the beggar money but I don't like giving money to children because they should be taken care of in orphanages. When I don't have money I always feel guilty for ignoring the beggars I come across. Some countries provide unemployed persons with an allowance that make it unnecessary to beg, I believe this is so in England, but very few countries have this system in place or can not afford this system so the unemployed have no where to go to get assistance. I am myself presently unemployed and can not find any work because there is no work to be found. I have some money left from when I had had work so I am tryig to make a living from the internet. But not everybody is so lucky and have no choice but to beg. It is true that there are syndicates that basically employee people to beg for them but all beggars are not part of these syndicates. So do you ignore all beggars because some may be part of a syndicate? Well I guess we all make our choice according to our experience, but I will always give when I have.

The problem of beggars is a social evil and an affront on the national prestige of our country. The Government should take immediate steps to eradicate it.

me, i give food instead of money, because, i think that if i give them money, they might use it for bad, and they might be asking for the rest of their lives knowing that others would provide them with one, so i give them something consumable like food instead,,, ^^
