Photography as hobby

Friends, high quality digital cameras are becoming cheaper day by day; cell phones are now having good cameras too. Photography is my hobby since 1958. I have several cameras; the latest is a 15 megapixel digital. This one is always with me in my bag or pant pocket. I enjoy photographing nature, cloudy sky, sunsets, sun rise, eclipse, birds, insects etc. Sometimes I use my cell phone too. So what hobby you have? Do you use cell phones to take photographs? dear professor, photography is a very expensive hobby before especially during those times when roll of films had to be bought. and then there was the process of developing the film into pictures, you also had to spend doing that. but with the digital cameras nowadays, it has become easier and faster and much more cheaper. my digital cam is about 4 years old, i think, and i spent about 9thousand pesos for it. but now it shows a little sign of deterioration so hopefully one of these days i am able to buy a better one with higher megapixel as well. thank you for this discussion. ann

to photograph, it's still better to use a camera instead of using a cell phone, because the camera is built to capture

I haven't bought a new camera just yet. I'm still using my Nikon L14 which I bought two years ago. Hopefully, I can afford to buy a Nikon DSLR camera. And I also want to buy a Canon G11 camera because it has a really cool feature not available in other DSLR camera.

I am an aspiring (paid) photographer. I've got a Nikon D5000 DSLR with telescopic lens. The flexibility is awesome. The photo programs that are available to fix and manipulate an already awesome photo are awesome as well. But when I want to share what I'm doing when I'm doing it with someone else immediately or want to remember something I love my cell phone!

I too have photography as a hobby and have done it for several years. I also enjoy videography and have had several video cameras. The first one I got was back in 1978-79. It was a huge camera and I had to carry a portable VHS recorder which was very heavy. However, I remained undeterred and often carried it about with me. I then got one of the early camcorders with was CVHS (compact VHS). That too was rather big and in fact I still have it. I also still have the next one which was a Sony Super 8MM which was far ligher and fit in the palm of my hand. Now though I have a digital Sony with records to SD cards - this one is tiny and fits easily into my pocket. Yes, technology has come a long way and I am wondering what next they will invent.. _Derek

sundog - Dawn's cell phone sundog picture
I like taking photos with my digital camera. The cell phone is more like a backup for something I might see if I don't have my camera, though I have gotten a few really interesting ones with the cell phone. Here is a picture of a sundog (ring around the sun) that I took with my cell phone.

When young, I was totally into taking pictures of sceneries (when developing the photos are so expensive). Thus, I gave up taking pictures until my sis got a digital camera and I was back in action. Of course, when camera phone became available, it helped to make taking photo easily (but the picture quality does suffers a lot as compared to digital camera.) Anyway, a friend of mine bought a DSLR camera and we went out to take photo (while I was armed with my sis digital camera) and it was the sound of pressing the DSLR button that makes me totally tempted to own one that I fork out some money for a 2nd hand DSLR. Now, I am still with my first DSLR and going around taking pictures (learning how to use DSLR) and trying to improve my skill.

I've always dream of being a professional photographer and a model too.., But high definition cameras are way too expensive.., so i settled on my cellphone and digital camera with less than 10 megapixel.., i took pictures of myself.., and other scenery that i find beautiful and capture it i nice angles.., i feel that i can be good at it.., and my boyfriend say so too.., how i wish i could get more trainings and afford a camera for professional use someday.. for now.., i'll just keep on dreaming..=)

I'm hoping to have a high quality digital camera. But I still havn't graduated from school so I always take pictures by my cell phone.Through this way we can record the beautiful scenes of some time point. When you sit peaceful in front of your computer and look back on the photographs you took, you're so happy and just like the photos are your children.haha, and singing is also my hobby,i like to hang out with my friend singing in KTV.It's a good way to release your pressure.

No matter how good cell phone cameras can get, they are incomparable when it comes to the quality offered by SLR cameras. The high resolution, HD quality and various other features give them the edge over any other digital camera.

Photography is definitely not my hobby but posting in front of the camera is what I love. LOL! I have a lot of friends who are photographers and their cameras are really expensive too. For me, I only use my digital camera or my cellphone to take in pictures. But if given the chance to learn how to take pictures using high class of camera's why not? It would be an opportunity for me. =)
