Religion makes boundaries.

I think religion separates all of us. It makes us feel as if we are together but only in church and the name of religion that we are in. Religion made people believe that one is right and decides ones free will. Maybe the world is not meant to be united so wars can exist and evil can prevail which will keep religions alive. Will you say that your religion is superior to others? Or are you going to say that you are god fearing and things like these shouldn't be discussed because it's disrespectful because you can't give me an answer?

I think the flaw is intrinsic to human nature, not the religion(s). If it wasn't religion and politics separating, or religion used for politics, it would be something else.. if nothing else it would be hair color or something... we will always find differences to make boundaries from which to criticize others from. Same old, same old. New group always thinks they're offering something new (just a new bigotry) when it's just the same old, same old biggest human fault since the beginning..

Yes, I was right again. The world is not meant to be united. Thanks for your justification there I really appreciate it. Human nature is fun to play with.

Funny though because religion comes from the latin word relegare--meaning to connect or reach out; it is meant to unite us..but idealism today makes religion a club to join in. a sad reality.

No I don't think my religion is superior. Nor Do I fear G-d! He can and does whatever He wants to me and for me. Why fear? I never understood that.my religion is Very , very personal. It helps make me Sarah. True at times I can't do what others can but that is ok . But I have Never , ever have separated myself because of a person isn't of my religion. But I have lost contact with people who are not tolerant of religions that are different from their own. That pi$$es me off and I break it off.

If wanting Everyone to be able to choose their path and be respected for it means I'm selfish, then so be it.

I think the other way around. Religions have one thing in common. It makes it believer be a good person. Every religion in the world teaches its members how to be a good follower, and be a better human.

I think that will power of a person is superior to anything else in this world. it depends on us whether we think that religion must be given importance or a person's nature. and these days as science and technology is developing I do understand that people are coming out of their beliefs and trying to mingle with everyone as much as they can. when hearts unite, what role does religion really play?

When people started to doubt god because their crops are not receiving enough rain, they will eventually start to think a more logical approach to solve the problem, like using irrigation, then fertilizers and so on.

My dear Friend I am afraid you have forgotten the actual meaning of religion. Religion doesn't create boundaries. Neither it separate us. Actually religion show us a path through which we can get peace. Many monks and nuns had called it as a path to worship ur god whom you believe to bring peace in your life. All people have their own right to choose religion. Same as individuals choose different roads that leads to ultimate destination. All religions are same as the believers are same they are all humans.

Boundaries are made as a way to respect each and everyone. But people step on those causing conflicts keeping us further away from each other. It's a wall.

I will say that it does. I think that humanity would be far better off without religion. I think that religions ignite wars and that they tear people apart. I think that without religions, this world would probably be a far better place.

Organized Religion is the biggest Sin that was ever perpetrated on mankind. It has caused countless wars, and murdered millions in the last 20 centuries. Also its generated countless Billions of Dollars for the organizers. (Christian Churches) Christianity is the richest most Powerful business in the world, and this money does very little for the good of humanity, except to placate those who were raped and abused by the Religious Hierarchy.Nothing positive has been done to stop these dreadful acts, and they continue even as we speak!

I would love to answer this question friend as i feel what you feel too... people just somehow creates boundaries byt their own religion. I have argued one of my colleagues for classfying that they are Christians, and how about me? Am I not Christian, i believe in Jesus Christ, why they tend to classify themselves as only Christians... sometimes, religion can create separation, that is why it is far to achieve the unity we always dream... because many of us have different outlooks, different principles, and it seemed that we have different Gods... me, if you would ask me? It's up to you, religion, I don't mind with that! I am looking into faith though, as we could only be saved through our faith!

If I were to explain how religions develop in a very simple way I might says... God is a river. The river goes through the place of the rock and the people there say "my God is the God of the rock." The river goes through the sandy area with the bullrushes and the people there say, my God is the God of the bullrushes." The river goes up into the wooded areas and the people there say, "My God is the God of the tree." As the river moves through the different areas of the world, those who live there lay claim to God and try to make God their own. Everyone claims the river as his or her own. That is the nature of man to desire to stake out his own territory.Religion is the desire to lay claim to God, to have a feeling of connection with God and also a feeling of community with others. The move to form communities is the basic need that people have. The need to worship is, believe it or not, also a biological need hardwired in the DNA of those who worship. It is fine to have a religion and a religious tradition that one follows. I see nothing wrong with that. I think that religious communities can be a good thing and can support families and others in their life journeys. I do not think that religions have to be opposed to one another. I think that there have been some moves towards inter-faith dialogue and sharing of faith does occur. The problem comes not because there is religion, the problem comes when people want everyone else to believe as they do and when they attempt to convince others to switch their loyalties and belief systems to match their own. The fear that forces people to have the idea of needing conformity is the problem not the religion. Those who are athest are no less guilty of this. It is not religion but fear that is the dividing line. Love embraces. Fear fragments. It causes anger against those who do not conform and against those who are seen as the Other. Those who are mystics have no real boundaries. But those who follow their pathways with fear and uncertainty have a lot of need for imposing boundaries and have a lot of anger. Stomp out the fear and the anger. Increase the love and nothing, not religion, not politics, not science, not wealth, not race, not anything will be enough to cause the seperation you mention.

I think the fault lies in human and human nature. It is not about religion or technology and such, it is human nature that is evil.Simple technology like car, can be misuse for robbery kidnap and such, good clean energy that last for years like nuclear reactor can be converted to nuclear bom. Nuclear energy is less environment impact if compare with coal mining for energy and such.Personally i believe it is human who is at fault that twist religion to give birth to fanatics.

I also feel that religion separates people. History shows that many wars were fought on the basis on religion. why/ because people feel that their religion is superior to other religions which is wrong. No particular religion is superior other religions. When we study the basics of all religions we find that all religions preach tolerance and mutual respect. It is said than followed. I feel that the culprits are religious heads but I may be wrong. We all breath the same air and drink same water eat similar food but why feeling of hatred.I do not understand. There are no separate Gods for each religion. There is only on God.Like religion language is also a dividing factor.Every body thinks his or her religion and language are superior to others.Religious topics have also become very sensitive and delicate to be discussed in public. I feel respect for other religions should be taught from childhood and in schools and colleges so that when they grow up to be adults they can live a happy life.

Nice proposal, that will work if it was implemented but it probably be a long time before everyone becomes a more sensible person, and more knowledgeable to differences so they can avoid conflicts.

religion makes boundaries because of the beliefs, cultures, and the like. we should just respect for whatever they believe, we all have our free will right? There is no religion that is superior than the other, some says their religion is superior than the others because of this and that, but what about their leaders or higher ranking religious leaders? like the pope, does the pope say that their religion is superior than the others? i don't think so. those kind of believers are just fanatics of their religion, or they are just disrespectful trouble makers. we should just respect each others religions to live a no-religion based boundaries.

All of us have free will but it is highly influenced by our religion. The pope decides many things that affect people. Like the Humanae Vitae.

Yes sometimes religion makes boundary.. but i am a person who believes in every religions and also gave respect to their feelings.. I think sometimes it try to made some boundary when somebody loves to another religions person.. yes mostly time i saw.. when 2 different religions persons loves each other truly.. and when their religions person comes to know that .. then they try to kill both persons.. what is this.. i think this is a 18th century cultures.. now we are lives in 21st century.. and it doesn't matter which religions person you are.. but you are a human beings.. so we should think about it..that we adopted modern things or not..
