Anyone familiar with this word? I heard this every time I'm out, in facebook posts and many others, sometimes, I also use this as an expression. Like, I am major major in love today, I am major major mad. . The usage of the word is incorrect but sounds funny when we used to substitute the word "over" "super" "too much" or any other exaggerated words to "major major"

It came from Venus Raj who admitted that she meant to say the Tagalog translation of Bonggang Bongga. I think she was thinking in Tagalog while speaking in English back then and it resulted in this phenomenon. It's now being used almost all over the country and it's a big hit.

It becomes popular when Miss Philippines Venus Raj uttered it in the Miss Universe question and answer portion. I never used it though, I find it ridiculous and lack real expression of "super" meaning, so I stick to the old humorous term "super dooper", "as in to the max", "grabe as in super", hahahaha, these terms are more funny and entertaining than the major major thing, besides it's not hilarious anymore since we all know that it is part of Miss Philippines' blunder (if we call it that way).

This world is already used by Filipinos all over the world despite the wrongness of the grammar. I don't understand though, why would people use something that they already knew what is wrong. Funny, that applies to real life too. I hope this "major major" madness these people have would stop soon... Blame it to the media who keeps on using that two extreme words! Happy MyLotting!

I did not see it, but I've heard people talk about it after the Ms. Universe Pageant. I think this was a response that might have caused Ms. Philippines the crown. Like everything else, it's just a fad. And knowing the Philippines, a movie about this might be coming in the horizon. Major, major welcome to myLot!

Hi ftrazona! Hi! Welcome to myLot. That 'major major' issue was born last august 23, 2010 ( miss universe 2010 ). This issue came from Miss Philippines Venus Raj. She didn't answer confidently the question by the judges about 'what is her biggest mistake in her life'. She answered that she don't have any 'major major' problems in her life. That was the answer that became a major issue on different social networking sites and here at philippines. :)

All because of Venus Raj. :) I use that expression also. In fairness to Venus, she's gone nervous. But that's okay. As long as she's happy and we're happy. :)

I haven't heard this, but it sounds like a typical teenage Internet fad. The duplication doesn't make sense at all... I suppose they are trying to over-emphasize what they are major major whatever about!
