It is a rare opportunity to be away from full-time work. It is luckier for one to be spending days in another country. It would be a rare chance for one who never ever dreamt of it and who feels he can never do it again because of budget constraints. You know you have a fear of heights. And you know you won't be able to get another chance to be in that place again. Would you dare to experience things which you are afraid of doing to make the holiday memorable for you?

I think i will, I would not be enjoying my stay in another country if i wont try. Besides, it is an opportunity to experience something new in another country and i would not want to miss it.

Hi Triplejazzm51, Indeed it was a rare opportunity to be in another country. It was a less-expensive opportunity to travel as we stayed in a relative's living quarters. The trip was mainly for vacation, sightseeing and experiencing something that are not in our country. Like you, I wouldn't want to miss something or taking the cable ride and we took it. We had fun but it wasn't fun with rides which involved so much speed. I guess it has something to do with age, lol.

Heights don't bother me, but speed does and being out of my element. I think I'd like to go there or do that but don't, because I wouldn't know how to behave.

Hi Bellis716, Taking the cable ride was no problem for me. It was moving at a speed that one can fully enjoy the scenery below. Speed poses a problem for me, too. I had long confirmed about this when I took a ferris wheel ride when my children were younger. But still, to make the most of my trip and forgetting about how speed affected me, I took a mini roller coaster ride during our recent vacation. I would never take that kind of ride again as I felt so sick afterwards. I was thankful it halted when I was still whole, lol.

]HI Moneymakingtoday I may experience something I'm afraid of once if its not dangerous but anything to do with heights is out of the question I'm just to much of a scaredy cat! I would like to be able to go on an African safari but only with a lot of other people and plenty of sharp shooter and guides to make sure we are all protected .

Hi Cherryd41, Once in our lifetime, we experience dangerous circumstances, intentional or not. I would like to experience the thrill of doing some things which may become memorable for me. This is especially so if it is not readily available in your own country. It would surely make your holiday more satisfying and worth remembering. But when safety of life and limbs are put into risk, of course, I wouldn't dare do it.

I used to never have a fear of heights ... but the older I get, it seems some fear of heights has invaded my body!! Yet - I do know that I HAVE lived through many experiences where great heights were involved . . . and I HAVE survived them all - and many of them are wonderful memories!! So a big part of me knows there's really nothing to fear. You posted a photo of a cable car ride . . . is that what you're afraid of? It's really cool being in one of those - I say go for it!!

Hi Much2say, So like me, lol. I used to never have a fear of heights until getting older, lol. I still remember climbing very tall fruit trees in the neighborhood, especially during school vacations. I had the chance to take a ferris wheel ride in my teenage years but when I again took one ride with my own children, I was really afraid and wanted to go down even just as it was starting to turn around, lol. Yes, taking a cable car ride was cool. I never entertained fear as I was thrilled taking the ride even by watching it. It was a rare opportunity I wouldn't want to miss because we were in another country on holiday.
