I have cut down on my books alot over the last twenty years. When a person who loves books goes to move he either needs big huge men or a fork lift. I used to have more books than my daughter and I together had personal posessions. Boxes and boxes. Some I didn't even unpack because I just didn't have room for them all. Now you have the Kindle and audio tapes and alot of people just don't save books like they may have in the past. I have cut down alot on my reference books. I will save a book if I really enjoyed the story line or there was something unique about it or if I know it will be hard to find and replace if I ever want to read it or find it for a friend. I still have self help, herbal and holistic tonic, actors' and actresses' auto and biographies, and historical romances. I have a true love of books. I use to have a sort of a fantasy of having a big room ,like my office or some such, with me in the middle and stack after stack of books. I would love it! And I dream of a huge victorian library in my future. Do you love books? To what degree? Do you save them? What types?

I love books as well, and my husband and I are on our way to collecting a bunch of them. I hope to have a room for my books one day too, if not a finished attic or basement I can go to retrieve a book. I don't like the idea of the e-reader's or kindle's, they just aren't that appealing to me. Especially after coming online to earn, I'd much rather read a book I can hold in my hands.

I don't think I've seen all of the movie, but I've seen the book somewhere. I've heard it's a really good book, so I am sure I will eventually pick it up or read part of it online through amazon to see if I would read it.

E-readers and Kindles aren't that appealing to me either. I would rather read a real book also. Have you ever seen the movie Farenheit 451? Great book. You might enjoy it. Ray Bradbury.

I love books, too, but we're having to sell everything we can to pay housing taxes. My husband would like to have a library, like the one you describe, one day, too. Right now, we're just going from week to week trying to get through the month. So we have cut way down on buying books and we're going to have to sell many this weekend.

Well, I am sorry to hear you feel a need to sell your books. I wish I was closer. I could buy some of them and by the time you could afford them again I would probably be alittle tired of them. Maybe we could time share books or something.

That's very sweet of you. A friend of mine bought my bows and arrows, then sold them back to me the last time I was in a fix. I cried, it meant so much to me. Thank you very much for the thought.

I do too Celtic eagle and most all of my many books are in storage now when we were evicted after my son lost his job and we became homeless. then out of need and I was r eally physically unable'to 'stand up to the walkng around all day so we could stay in a homeless shelter. so now I live here at Gold Crest. one mylotter made a nasty dig insisting that I just got free room and board., how ridiculus as they take almost all of my S ocial security 'and ssi checks for monthly room and board Also she asked if my internet cable was free? I told her rather sharply no you do not get cable internet free.thats why I mylot a lot so I can be on the net.I read both fiction, and non fiction, and a couyple of of books from my University days.

Hi, Have you gone through the historical romance by William Shakespeare? And his Sonnets? Earlier I too used to buy books and references more than I needed but now I have become more choosy and pick up those which I think are more academic. I have read a lot of novels by American authors both new and old. But the number ha ceased dramatically over the past few years. do not you think our reading of books has been to a large extent hampered by computer and Internet?

Books are a necessary must to an avid reader! You don't realize the amount of books you can obtain over they years. There is so much knowledge and nformation that we get from books. Some of that is hard to part with no matter what.

So true! I know about obtaining books over the years. And books are so much better than the movies they make too. I would always rather read the movie than see it if you get my drift there. So much more detail. I love books!! I keep the really good ones. Have one (Where the Red Fern Grows) that was written by a man that came to my school when I was in grade school and talked to us kids. Had his manuscript with him. I will never forget that. I love the book too. If you haven't read it you really should. It would be a great one to share with your students too! Enjoy!

Oh dear, I know the feeling. I adore books. I've always wanted my own personal library as well. Just looking at stacks upon stacks of books would be wonderful. I collect tons of books also. I have considered buying one of those ebook readers, but I feel that it would not be the same. There's just something about holding a physical book that gives you that lovely feeling; ebook readers just can't replace an actual book. I love collecting children's fairy tales with lovely illustrations, poetry, plays, reference books, novels, and many others. I usually buy a hardback to preserve the book and a paperback so that I can read as much as I want without feeling guilty of damaging it.

I do! I read every day, and buy way too many books, but I really enjoy reading and also I justify these purchases by telling myself that reading makes you smarter, hehe! I keep most of my books, I have only thrown out books once in my entire life! But I am sure I will do it again at some point.

Oh, yes! Wasn't Animal Farm fun?! I enjoy the classics too. My mother loved books too, especially the classics, and she would read to me when I was quite young. Those were very special times and I think they instilled this love I have for books. I thank my mother and a good friend for this.
