Two easy steps to lose weight

I read an article today that suggested that you can lose 3-4 lbs per month by adding 500 steps per day to your exercise routine and by cutting 100 calories from one of your meals. Sounds too easy doesn't it. One of my tips is to leave 3 generous bites on your plate. What do you think? Can this work? Do you have any simple changes that we could make to lose weight?

The best I've found it to leave the top bread off a sandwich or a burger. I also will cut my food in half and either throw it away or let my dogs have it. Works. I've lost 18 lbs. !

Congratulations on the weight loss. I sometimes substitute lettuce for the bun on a burger. For those of us on a tight budget, we could cut our food in half and freeze it. We can lose weight and have another meal already cooked to enjoy on another day. Great ideas

I went on a diet on June 2nd, 2009. I lost 50 lbs by New Years, but I haven't lost any more. I haven't been as good on the diet as I should, but I'm eating less than I did before the diet. Also, I was just over the level considered healthy on cholesterol, and I got that down by Sept. Starting around Thanksgiving last year I started walking more around my client's apartment complex, and since walking for no reason doesn't appeal to me, I started looking for cans. One of the things I did was give up sodas mostly, and I was already drinking diet sodas, but I started drinking more water, granted with Crystal Light in it, but better than sodas... So, now that we've had a cool spell, I'm going to try and start walking even more than I have been.

The roomie came home after the surgery and started being bad - so I haven't been as good as I should be, but I am trying (I'm very trying, but that's another story) and while she's gone this week I'm going to try and be better about the food...

Wow! Congrats on your progress. It may be that you need to reduce your calories a little bit more and try walking a little bit more. I read an article a week ago that said that people who have kept their weight off fo 5 years or more walk 11,000-12,000 steps per day and continue to track their food intake. Best of lucj to you.

okay my whole response just went bye bye grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr so starting over. I found that in sticking to my 8 to `10 glasses a day a nd in this hot spell adding about five more just helped me to lose 25 pounds now I am at 200 so have fifty more to go but I had been cutting the heavy carb servings in half and leaving half on my plate and drinking more water. I have now lost 25 pounds and did it painlessly too. I never felt starved and I also kept my blood glucose levels where they belonged. In fact as a diabetic I cannot go to the 1000 diet or 800 diets as they promote low b lood sugar which is just as bad as having high blood sugar. So I stick to around 1500 calories a day and try to get in a half hour or forty five minutes of some type of exercise to raise your heart rate.

My response just went byb bye as well. I applaud your progress. You have been a source of support and encouragement to me and I look forward to the day that I hear that you no longer need insulin because you've gotten everything in check. We will be visiting SoCal sometime next year and perhaps we can stop by for a chat. Stay strong. We can both do this good thing. Are you a member of Eons? If so, please join Cheaper Than Lipo. I am a moderator here as we all encourage each other in our weight loss goals. Best of luck.

ya I completely agree with you as walking is an amazing exercise it help's you to stay fit and it reduces your excessive weight its good for your legs too...some people cannot get thin because its in their hormones that they become fat its like when we eat its digested normally but when some people eat there body produces an enzyme which makes them fat they can only cut their weight by dieting....

I think this is a good way to lost weight, most importantly a HEALTY way. It's the original more excerise, less calories. I believe all the other ways are rubbish you will either gain it all back, or it is very un healthy. I just wish everyone would have the strength to do it the healthy way, I can't even talk, cuz i know i don't.

After more years of dieting than I care to mention, I have finally realized that permanent weight loss requires a lifestyle change. I think that I am finally at the place where I want to make that change and weight loss is jst a bonus. If it takes me a year to lose the weight who cares, this is my diet for the rest of my life.
