I can't believe how many people actually believe this is true but it's not. There is absolutely NO scientific evidence to prove that looking at a computer monitor for a long period of time has any adverse affect on your eyesight whatsoever. If you look at anything for a very long time, you may start getting tired, or become somewhat mesmerized which could cause your vision to blur momentarily, but this can also happen while you're reading a book. Any student that has put in long hours studying for an exam can attest to that. This is not any kind of permanent damage and can be remedied by doing something else for a while and/or getting some rest. Whether you're looking at a book or a computer screen makes absolutely no difference. There is nothing about a computer screen that can harm you. Tell your mom not to worry.

Its true, I also experience the same may be because your sleepy. And the computer releases lot of radiation that may affect to our eyes. Too much of everything is not good. Enough is enough.

your mom is absolutely right ..... even if you take few breaks after 20 min ... it wont work ...... it depends on how many hrs you sit in front of computer screen .... you are actually concentrating the small letters on net which harms your eyes...

Believed her as mother's know best. Using computer is not good for our eyes, especially we are in front of monitor about 6-10 inches. Not like the TV that we can watch 3 meters away. Taking 20 mins can help but still it can cause out eye problem later on. You will not see the effect now but later you will.
