As you are aware I have to move because of the Landlord not paying his Mortgage http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2410602.aspx?p=1 Well yesterday this is what occurred Landlords Wife rings me Her.... I assume you have paid the rent in Me ..... No I haven't, as I am aware that you have not paid the Mortgage and that the Place might be repossessed Her ..... We have sorted it yesterday thinking you are paying the rent today, we are not in court Me ..... Load of rubbish and I will be phoning the Company to check on it I am still moving as I would never be sure if this would happen again, I am not paying this Month rent to make sure I have my Deposit back Her..... you are nothing but a Liar, you said you would pay it Me........ Excuse me if anyone has been lying here, it is you and your Husband No work and repairs has been done in the Flat, I have no heating, I have decorated myself with MY Money, and all you 2 have been doing is telling me lie after lie, you ignore my calls, my Emails, my Messages Her............ I wish they would repossess the Place, but you are nothing but a liar and I got legal advise about the Heating Me ..........I hope you remembered to ask that it is still ok to overcharge rent when I did not get what was advertised, just empty promises that I was fool enough to believe Her....... You took the Flat as seen Me........ Yeah with the promises that over the first 4 Months it will all be sorted, I have been there 6 month and apart from being ignored by both of you you have done nothing, you have fooled me even though you knew about my Illness, which I hope you mentioned to your Legal adviser, you led me to believe it will be repaired Her........ You are a Liar, you said you where paying the Rent Me .......... Well I was till I got this letter about it being repossessed and I have to get legal advise on it because I will have to move out don't call me a Liar, also I will make you aware that the previous Tenant is willing to stand up and tell how they have been treated goodbye I put the Phone down as she just kept saying I am a Liar I phoned up the Company which sent me the Letter and as I thought she lied to me as they are still in Court for possible repossession I got a Phone call from the Landlord to and well I basically told him straight to also followed it up by Email. I also let him know that I still have the Email which promoted the Flat to me , as he threatened to phone the Council and tell them that I am not paying rent on time I told him that is fine as I have my receipts and also that I can only pay when I get the Money, I told him that the Council is already aware of the Situation so he is welcome to ring them and that I have all my Paperwork ready, also that I phoned the Company who told me he IS STILL IN COURT so he is to tell his Wife to look at herself before she starts calling me or others for that Matter a Liar So that is the update for now anyway Would you have let them bully you ?????

You did well, sweetie. I am proud of you. I don't think they will try that one again. I won't let anyone talk to me that way. I would have gone to their flat and teach both of them some manners. I get that little lapses sometimes, you know. Keep us up to date, okay. TATA.

I am very Proud of you Gabs for standing up for your self Babe ! These people need to learn you cannot bully other people and keep getting away with it. There are so very many people that do that I think more of us should stand up for our selves more often . If there were promises made about work being done on the flat then they should have kept their promises . Huggles ~~Jodi

Good for you, you kept everything for proof and stood up to this lady. Actually if I was in your shoes, yes I would do as you did, but since my husband is the primary one to pays bills, it's on him to talk to people like that...

gabs8513, These are really bad times for everybody and your landlord is just downright despicable to add to these bad times. I just do not know what to say here accept that you had done the right thing for not accepting anything verbal from them. I mean how could you when they cannot even fulfill their end of the bargain and that the place could be repossessed anytime. I really hope that you'd be getting legal counsel and get these despicable characters to task. Most of all, I am also hoping that you'd be able to get a new place soon before this place become a disaster for you. I just cannot imagine you getting stranded at this time of the year. All the best and hope to have a brighter update soon. Take care.

hi gabs good for you. You countered every accusation with the truth and she sounds like a right bully to me,I am glad that you stood up for yourself as she sounds like someone who usually out talks the other person.I agree you should hold onto the rent until you know what is really going to happen. If they are in repossession that will be a real legal mess. I sure would not have let them bully me either. Hope this soon gets straightened out as this is 'the last thing you needed what with your own health and Gissi's tpo. good luck God bless hugs from Hatley

I would have probably hung up on them the first time she called me a liar. I think they hoped to use your rent to bail themselves out of the foreclosure. I am so glad you have saved all of your data regarding this place and that you can prove how they have abused you all along. I think it is a good thing you will be getting out of there before the really cold winter sets in.

Hi Gerty They might have thought this but sorry no way as I do not believe it would have been enough Well if he is keeping the Place he had better find a new Tenant and fast to as he can obviously not afford to pay the Mortgage

There is no way I would let them push me around. NOt only that they need to pay you for all of the repairs and work you have done to the place since you have been there. They promised to do things and they never did so you did some of it yourself. Just the hassle they have put you through is enough to cause a headache or more. All they wanted was the money and blaming you for it going back to the bank is not right because you are a couple of days late paying your rent. They knew when you moved in when your check comes in and they were fine with that, then. Them not paying their payments on the place for months on end is why they are losing the place and has nothing to do with you. They will most likely lose it and they want any money they can get from it in the mean time. I'd get them for harasment and anything else I could get them for. I'm not for suing people but these people deserve it!

At least the mortgage company apologized to you. You are right it's the landlord that should do this. But they are sorry, low down, money grabbing, snots that are interested in fattening their wallets and nothing else.

I can not believe all this is happening to you! How can people like that sleep at night? I think you did a great job standing up for yourself and I think I would have been a little more meaner but that's just me. I tend to curse and I know you are not that type. Have you had any luck finding another place? And yes by all means make copies upon copies and try to get as much proof as you can so these people don't get away with anything.

I am mostly on FB now have thought about returning to Yuwie but not sure about that one.

No, do not let anyone bully you or talk to you in that manner, I would never let it happen. That could possibly be called harrassment also. You do need to get legal advice though gabs, on how to handle this situation. Then you can go ahead and do what is necessary, and they will let you know what is allowed and not allowed. What is with the heat? You mean you have no heat at all? That is totally illegal and a good case for court. Plus all the repairs that they were suppose to do. But still get advice please. Just keep hanging up on them until you find out what your rights are in this case. I hope you find a sweet little place for you and Gissi, that you can be happy in, WITH HEAT!

I think that you did very well to stand up to her. If her only defence is that YOU are a liar than that demonstrates how thin the ice is where they stand. However, just a note of caution. If you signed a contract then that is binding in law even if you do not live in the property now. What that means is that if you don't pay your rent then you might be regarded by a court as being in breach of the contract. Conversely, if the contract sets out the landlord's obligations then make sure that they cover those things that you have asked the Landlord to do and that he hasn't done. He is then also in breach of contract. Have a look at the Shelter website: http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/renting_and_leasehold/rights_and_responsibilities/landlords_responsibilities You might also consider visiting your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They are usually pretty good on these things. I'm thinking of you. XX

Hi there my dear Friend I know I might be in breach of contract, I am just securing my Deposit, as I know what he did to the previous Tenant I know her well and she is willing to stand in court if it comes to it He is also in breach of Contract as he has done nothing to place P1ke I put money in there to decorate it, The only Place I did not manage in the end was the bedroom, I have no heating apart from the Living room where there is a Gas Fire that has not been serviced in Years, there is no Gas safety certificate that he refused to get, I was 2 weeks without hot water, he then had an emergen Heater fitted the Switch gets hot after an hour of being on and after about 5 hours the Water is luke warm He has never committed himself in writing it has always been by Text Messages I will send you the Email I wrote him and you will see what has been going on I will be going to Citizen Advise with all the Emails, receipts and the false Agency Document Thank you for the Lnk I will look at it now Big Hugs

I would not let someone bully me like that. You did the right thing. I don't think I would have been paying the rent even without the repossession going on. They need to fix the heat and haven't. Especially if you have health problems, you definitely need heat. I am not sure where you live, but I know in the US they have laws about apartment living and rules and regulations for the landloads. Slum landloads are not tolerated in most states (if not all). You have rights as a tenant and you deserve to live in a livable environment. I would definitely seek legal advise on this matter. If you are on a limited income, there are free attorneys you can seek advise from. Good luck to you.

Hi Margery Well I have had enough for 6 months I have had hardness and bullying of them, reducing me to tears, and all because I was a couple of Days behind because of either the rent money being a couple of Days late or because I was to ill to go to the bank or because I got ripped of by the Bank which I can prove as I received a Letter with a cheque from them Well I will fight this out but I am going to need to get some help I have an appointment with the Council on Friday to look at my options, the only thing is I want to stay in that Area, as I have made a good Friend who pops in to see me that I am ok, helps with things I can't do and takes Gissi out when I can't
