Well, I'm sure that most people know about the Twitter feed on this subject "S hit my dad says," and there is also a new television show by the same name. So, I wondered if there has ever been anything that your parents have said that is really funny but also brutally honest. Mine is from my mother. My husband got home from work one day and said "My dogs are tired." while referring to his feet being sore from spending the day on his feet. Well, my mother responded with "I don't know why they are tired, all they do is sleep all day." while referring to our pets. Please share some funny stories about stuff that your parents have said with me.

My mother in law is too funny sometimes. One time when we were with her she walks up to the counter under a huge TICKETMASTER sign and asks "Do you sell tickets here?" we laughed pretty hard at that one. Then my husband got a jeep so we go to his moms so she can see and she busts out with "is that to hunt the animals" what she meat was he taking it hunting with him but it came out as the other it was just too funny. That one has become this long running joke around her. My dad actually called me to ask when I was going to the mall. I was really confused, well turns out we were talking to the day before and I told him I was painting my kitchen WALL the next day. It was really funny when I figured out what he was talking about.

It really does make things pretty funny when there is someone in the family that hears things wrong. So, when you painted your wall, did it look really nice? I need to paint my kitchen pretty soon, it is depressing right now to look at.

It was only one wall and accent wall my first one in the house I painted it a Dark Blue and I really like it now I just need to tackle the rest of the house. I don't want to rush in to anything we have only been her 9 years after all LOL. My house really needs some color and I think that I am finally ready. For the kitchen I walked into lowes and picked a color and got paint and decided if I didn't like it after 6 month I could repaint but lucky I do like it, otherwise it would probably take me another 9 years to paint over it anyway.

Oh heck I have a whole blog about funny things my dad has said, but I can't get at it right now. My poor mom, when she was pregnant, had to put up with him telling people that he was her fiancee. That was in 1958, mind you, when something like that was terribly shocking.

That kind of sounds similar to something that my dad used to do when my mother was pregnant with me. He would ask people, when she was past her due date (I was born 23 days late) if they thought it was time that the two of them got married.

I don't remember any of my parents..but one funny thing my sister did once...she was newly married and her husband who is veterinary doctor...was out on visits....a man came to their house and told her that tell the doctor that so and so man came and he wants to met you (he gave some name...which included first name and the last name...surname as we call it in India)...now when he went...she remembered 2 famous personalities including those 2 parts of the name...and then she decided that...yes i will remember this man's name by these 2 people ( I wonder why she didn't write it down) ...and when her hubby came home she reversed the 2 names..and gave birth to a new name..which her husband never knew....

That is pretty funny and it also sounds like something that I would do. I am terrible with names at times.

You know I feel so silly. I remember seeing the twitter feed, and I have watched a bit of the show, but I didn't even think about the show being off the twitter feed, of course I forgot about the twitter feed myself. I am not really sure what to say that is silly or funny that my parents or my husband's parents have said.

Well, the Twitter feed is definitely hilarious. Now as for the show, I don't think that it is nearly as funny as it could have been.

As a young girl growing up in britain in the 60's I had decided at one point that I wanted to go to art school. My mother's response was "I'm not having you going off to art school, wearing a shirt and growing a beard!" I was a 16 year old school girl!!!!

That is absolutely hilarious that she said that. I can see why a parent would be afraid of their child going to art school but the fact that your mother mentioned those cliches is just hilarious.

I could not begin to list all the funny, crazy stuff my father said. He was a decent but hilarious human being. I can tell you a couple of things he used to say to us as kids. One thing was that he was going to hit us in the klarn. What's a klarn you ask? That's what I finally asked him. It was a made up word that, to him, meant anywhere you want it to be. The other thing he always told us was to "Freddy Orange". I never knew the real meaning behind it. I knew what he was trying to say ('Get lost') but it wasn't until I was much older that the initials of that name held the real meaning. I don't think I need to elaborate any further.

There is definitely no need for you to elaborate any further. That really is a great one.

Mine would be being brutally honest about someone else. My mother called up wanting to have a frank and honest discussion. It took me a few minutes to realize, she had meant to call my sister! Talk about mistaken identity. lol

My mother in-law used to loose her checkbook every month and insist some one stole it even though she was always able to find it...exactly where she put it. This is especially funny because she lives in a rural area and there is no one around for over a mile. My grandma once tried to tell me that animals didn't have brains or a soul. I damn near bit my tongue off trying to not laugh. I just calmly told her I was pretty sure animals have brains, even though I just straight up KNOW animals have brains lol She is lucky she is such a nice lady. When I was younger, my dad was in a fight. When he got back from the fight me and my brother were asking him and my mom all sorts of questions. He just said he tore the guy's head off and me and my brother seriously believed he had ripped a man's head off for a long time.

Those are all great stories. However, I have to say that the one about your father is my favorite. I could only imagine the terror that a child would have if they really thought that one of their parents had ripped someone's head off.
