I need food suggestions.

Because of my asthma my doctor has banned eggs, chicken, tuna, sardines, pineapples and mangoes from my diet. She also told me to stay away from tofu and nuts. This makes food choices very limited. So rather than become a rabbit, I wonder what I can do in order to make my food choices wider. I also need some suggestions for my pack lunch at work. I went grocery shopping today and I was a little sad because I could not pick up the stuff I usually buy when I go grocery shopping.

hi anne25penn. i also have asthma and it could kill me when i have attacks.i just want to know if those food triggers your attack? coz i was banned from those also but i still eat those.except for shrimps, crabs and any other shellfish coz it can trigger attacks very fast(but hose are my favorite so i still eat .hehehe). if you want to take the doctors advice you will have to bare with what you think is better for you. you can eat chicken but not the skin and if possible grilled chicken , less fat. almond that are roasted, peanuts can trigger asthma.tofu is good for the body specially for women, you can take also but moderately. ...oh , fish that has no scale, yeah, that is tuna, not good.mango? i like it a lot you can still eat mango ,it's a good source of vitamin C even the pineapple. i suggest less stress also food that are high in cholesterol. i think it also has something to do with attacks.good day.

I have many allergies, so its possible to eat by just changing how you shop in the grocery store. I can't have dairy, nuts, eggs and coconut. I'm suggesting starting in the produce section getting a few items, then buy some items to bake. I like making muffins using applesauce instead of oil to keep the calories down. They are easy to pack for lunches. Also you might make a homemade soup with vegetables and I use turkey. My work has a refrigerator and a microwave.

Can you eat salmon? Canned salmon is a good substitute for tuna and if you buy the bigger cans, it isn't too expensive. If you can't eat a whole can at one time, it can be frozen for later. Of course there's beef, pork and lamb for meat choices and lots of fruits besides pineapples and mangoes. It may be a matter of retraining your taste buds. I am allergic to pork, some nuts and a few other things, so it's sometimes hard, but for the most part, I'd rather do without some of my used-to-be favorite foods than suffer the consequences.

Hi Most experts agree that there is very little evidence supporting a direct link between food and asthma. However, there is a lot of evidence showing that a well-balanced diet contributes to overall good health as well maintaining body weight. As the prevalence of obesity continues to rise, so to does the incidence of asthma. Some of the foods that may cause an allergic reaction which can aggravate asthmatic attack include: -Dairy products -Eggs -Peanuts -Seafood -Soy foods -Wheat These are the foods to be avoided. But remember that dairy foods contribute large quantities of calcium, riboflavin, protein and vitamins A and B12 to a diet. Restricting or cutting them out, without medical advice, may lead to nutritional deficiencies, particularly in young children or people with a chronic illness like asthma. So take your doctors advice regarding which dairy product to avoid and which one to have in moderation. There is no special ‘asthma’ diet and it is important to remember that no foods either cause or prevent asthma. Like anyone else, people with asthma should eat a healthy, balanced diet that includes plenty of fresh and unprocessed foods.

and those are all good sources of protein. are you allowed dairy products, beans and soya? if you are there are plenty of balanced meals you can make for lunches. hummus is good for sandwiches and most of the vegetarian burgers and sausages are made from soya. they taste pretty much like the real thing. you can also have salads with cheese or beans in them.

Avocados have all sorts of health benefits and would provide some sort of variety to your limited diet. Its rich taste adds a lot of flavor and texture to your dishes too!
