Hello Lotters, Yesterday my mom was doing a lot of digging in her closet. i thought she was cleaning her room again, then she mentioned that she needs to find her Girl Scout uniform. but i asked her what for, because she already retired from being teacher. she said, she's going to be a speaker on another Inaugural Ceremony for the NEW Star Scouts. then, she asked me to give few information about it so that she can make a speech for them. Unbelievable, till this day she still needed. SHe is also a member of HandMaid of the Lord, Participant of Lord of Pardon and Newest member of Women Christians League. although she didn't want it but i think it really give her something to do now that she is retired. I am so proud of her, wish i could be more like her but I am kinda different now. Still, she's the best mom there is.

How sweet of you to feel so proud and well deserved for her. It is great that she maintains her self useful and active to others. This must give her a sense of pride to be needed and wanted. Congrats to your mother for being the best mom and woman to the people she assists.

Hello Hardworkinggurl, But i am so sad that i didn't have this active thing with her. i am usually quiet and shy, besides, organizations like these you need to have financial stability to cover you're own expense.she's one of the best mom that i know, she got friends and most people missed her a lot. as of now, she's visited by my elder cousins wife to let know how is she doing

It doesn't mean that once retired life comes to a standstill. Your mom should be a good example to other retirees to spend their time in a worth-while way. We read of retired people undergoing a lot of stress and tension. No doubt there are many retirees who spend their time doing something beneficial to society. However, there are others who seem to have nothing to do and are leading an aimless life. Though I am a self declared pensioner as I opt to resign from active employment prematurely I find anything to keep myself busy mentally and physically. I have more time now indulging in my passion in baking, reading and traveling. Every retiree should lead a happy meaningful life.

Hello zandi, In the Philippines, old people tend to either travel by walking, exercise or gamble like playing bingo and cards.wow, you like baking? those grandchildren of yours will be lucky enough to eat you're pastries and cakes. men, i envy them, every retiree is actually supposed to be just relaxing and having fun, like mylotting

Your mom was a Girl Scout Leader? I was an assistant leader for 12 years and those were some of the best times in my life to be able to do so many things with my daughter and the troop. :) I think it's cool your mom still even has a uniform, I never had one and if I did, I'd probably couldn't fit into it anymore..lol

Hello carmel, she was active too in the girl scout but she's a lot more known as the best teacher in the school, she got awards during the 90's. she just look for it in her closet, but she got it cleaned. also she jut recently got a uniform for her CHristian Womans League. well, am sure it's there if you go for a general cleaning

That’s wonderful, my mom is also socially active, the society ladies always approach her for any complain and take her to the senior society member. When ever she goes out every one has something to share with her. That why she is busy whole day. I love her, She understand me and supports me in any condition like a true friend.

hi Letran I am proud of you ar the love and appreciation you show towards your mom, and proud of her too. Yes in our older years we want to feel needed and hsve something worthwhile to do with our selves. Of course she is needed as she has the expertise and willingness to take on being speaker for inaugural Ceremony for New Star Scouts.
