That was disappointing!

I had a call at the beginning of the week. Supposedly the job would be for 3 days this week and 5 days next week. I would be trying out voting machines in an undisclosed (means I can't tell you where) secure facility. After 2 1/2 days, we had most of the machines tested. They don't need us extra people next week. So instead of 8 days, just those 2 1/2. Usually my temporary jobs go for longer than for shorter than they tell me. This is my second undisclosed secure facility. I worked for a jewelry place without the name on the door or anything, just a number. So have you ever worked less than you originally thought? More? Have you worked for a company that was in an undisclosed secure facility?

When I worked for AT&T I volunteered to work on some film they were sorting and putting in files. Back before computers. It was supposed to be for about threee months. Everything with AT&T was in undisclosed secure facilities. Back before the devestiture and all when everything was hush hush.

Was it for 3 months? More? Less? I wonder why they were undisclosed? The jewelry place alledgedly had quite a bit of $ in jewelry. If person came in and stole it, it could have been like robbing Fort Knox. But it also had alarms and other security features. The poling machines, obviously, many things must be put in place to keep people from sabotaging the elections. What was AT&T worried about? Since 9/11, I bet there are more undisclosed secure facilities, don't you think?

I worked for AT&T back in the 70's. I would think so.

I've never worked in an undisclosed secure facility. However, I once worked for a company labeling pictures for them to sell. They told me I could do a certain number of packages. You got paid per package. Then, they brought in more people. So, I got far less than promised. They called me back about a month later telling me these people did a bad job and would I like to redo their work. I lied and said I was busy.

I had a friend that was stuck redoing a bunch of work. Cutting off tags and redoing them to the correct tags. Another time, she had to put her hand in and check boots for nails sticking up. Tedious work. Sounds like they had a deadline, so they hired more people. Sounds like the people they hired after you weren't as good as you are. I don't think there are a lot of undisclosed facilities. Once you pass background checks, you're more likely to get them.

When I did the census, I worked less than I expected. It was not undisclosed though. It was interesting to read your post. You have gotten some interesting assignments.

The testing of voting machines was interesting for the first couple of days. A lot to it. The jewelry place, I can't delicately wrap stuff quickly in tissue paper without tearing it. Very frustrating.
