May I rant about thing that annoy me about myself?

Once in a while, and sometimes more than once, I get caught giving my ideas in the wrong place. It happens in my family and it also happens here at mylot. Sometimes I wonder how it is that I have a nice star here instead of a very small number.
Should I keep my big mouth shut, I ask myself? But, what if the discussion is about something that really interests me?
When people answer my posts with ideas against my own, I never give them a minus sign for that. I ponder about their ways of thinking and many times id enlightens me on the subject. It happens a lot here as there are people from all around the world.
As an example, I never thought before it could be better an arranged marriage than to marry the person you liked. But I discovered that it is my culture and not a universal truth.
But then I get involved in posts where I discover AFTER I submited my answer, that I should have kept quiet.
Do you have those problems too? How do you solve them? Is there away to solve them without making a false comment later saying that you don´t think what you think? (I would not do that for a million bucks).

oh don't worry about it marguicha~ i personally learned a lot from your responses. maybe the fact that you have that blue star beside your name indicates that you're doing a great job in giving your personal views and that people aren't holding any of them against you.:)

Hi Margy, the beauty of life is that it really is ok if we change our mind about something.
We may be convinced about a subject and stand by our opinion for years then one day, someone comes along with a totally different perspective that makes much better sense than your own outlook...so you change your mind.
To me, changing how we think about things is part of growing and learning...no crime or shame, that's for sure.

I believe in honesty and I will always speak the truth when I am asked for an opinion. It is not appropriate to neg rate anyone who disagrees with you but unfortunately there are those who have a habit of doing this either because they don’t understand how the rating system works or because they are nasty. I admit that I have had to choose my words very carefully when responding to certain posts. If I feel that my opinion may offend I avoid responding altogether.

I agree with you, paula. But in real life I have learned to stay away from people who will not accept any thought different from theirs. It´s more difficult here, as we don´t see the people we are talking with.

Well, I think we should be born free. And when you have the urge to express, you should express. But respectfully ( and I'm sure you are). But there are 'consequences' of being free... and that is others sometimes don't want to hear it. Some people are probably just taking things too personal. You don't have to be annoyed of yourself being expressive, I think it is a beautiful thing... you should just let the others deal with it.

I dont think its a problem. When I start a discussion, I want to know what other myloters are thinking...their honest opinion and I always give a "plus" to everybody. Life is hard and we all need help to make ends meet.
So if ever you answer one of my discussions, dont be afraid, let yourself go and tell me what you REALLY think. It'll make me happy!!

well i think it happens to all of us at mylot. look at all the times people have complained , like you are, about small minded people. 
to me i love some different opinions as long as they dont get nasty about it. its great that everyone is different. it would be a very boring world if we were all like robots and just alike

It is harmful only to open your mouth and allow something hurtful to come out. If you just plain have a difference of opinion then it is best to judge if now is the time to state such idea or maybe wait for a better time. If you are on mylot and express an opinion that does not agree with others in the discussion then I don't think you should be rated down. But rating is open to each of us and it also is just an opinion. Myself, I love to hear different opinions, after all I could talk to myself in the mirror if I only wanted to hear from those that agree with me. Hang in there and always remember this is a virtual world here on mylot.

It´s true that we (at least I) would not want a mirror conversation. It would be very dull and boring. But once in a while I get the feeling that I should have kept my mouth shut. I am very interested in politics and religion but I hardly answer those posts because I feel as if I were walking in quick sand.

Like most have said don´t let it worry you too much. If it´s something you think that you cannot answer properly then leave it. I do if I see that it is not my place to give an opinion there I back out after reading it a bit.

I don't know what exactly you are talking about here, but if you believe what you believe, you don't have be bothered by other people. You can still do your own thing, and you still are you own. You just do what you gotta do.

Yes and no. I don´t like to get into a discusion about politics or religion with people who will not respect my right to think different. When I bite the hook, I am sorry later. Not because my ideas are not important to me, but because I should not have spoken about them there.

Firstly I would like to say that placing negative should never be done even if the comment is a difference of opinion. The guidelines say no one should do this as an opposite opinion makes for a great discussion. Something many members are abusing on here.
When I reply to discussions, I do not think long and hard at all, as I am one that responds from the heart and well nothing fake and or untruthful in mine. So for anyone to belieeve that perhaps I am sadly posting merely due to misunderstandings, well let us just say I sleep with me and wheh I lay at night I sleep well, knowing that I did my best and the best is all that can be expected.
So when if ever a debate my friend I simply reply with thanks for you response and please be well. I have enough cr@p in my off-line life and it is just not going to happen on-line where someone thinks they can push my buttons and think that my character will ever change. So in answer to your discussion, do not avoid and or think to hard when it comes to discussions be yourself and have fun and the rest comes naturally.

Yes,we all have this problemes but is something natural. Is normal to be confused sometimes.
