So how's the weather for you?

After a shocking day of wind and rain yesterday I never left the house, but on nipping out to town this morning I got a real shock to see that the low Bowland hills (about 8 miles away from where I live) were covered in a sheet of snow! After last year's awful winter (I was actually marooned in my house for a week in early January) I am hoping that this is not the sign of another harsh winter for us! Are you suffering from any bad weather where you are - and do you experience snow or is it something that you only see on Christmas cards??

Where I am, it is still very hot, which I honestly do not really like for this time of year. So yes, I think the weather here is bad at the moment, but I am sure there are others out there who would love to trade with me (it is over 30 degrees celcius and sunny)

Well I for one would swap you for a couple of weeks - if you like constant rain, high winds and low temperatures that is!!

I am down in Tennessee. It is a bright sunny day down here today, and has been for the past few days. It has been getting cold at night and is a bit chilly in the morning, but the sun is hot, warming everything up quickly. We do see a bit of snow where I am at, but that is because I am on the mountain. Down in the valley they rarely get snow. I was raised up north so I have definitely had my fill of snow. The only time I really miss the snow is at Christmas time. On Christmas about 5 years ago, the kids were all wearing shorts on Christmas day. Nothing like what I was used to growing up in the north.

No actually I don't. Like I was saying about the kids wearing shorts on Christmas Day...about 2 weeks prior to that we went to cut down our Christmas tree. This has been a tradition since I was a small child. We used to go up to Wisconsin and cut a tree down each and every year. We used to walk for ever to find the "perfect" tree. It was freezing cold and there was always snow on the ground. Well years later here we all are in shorts cutting down a tree...it really just didn't even seem right. I don't miss the cold, but I do miss the snow on Christmas, even if it was just a light dusting on the ground...it makes it so pretty.

I have been to the northeast last week. It was chilly and damp. I think we saw a spit of snow. That is 1600 miles away from where we live. When we arrived home yesterday it was a very sunny, almost summery fall day. It will be nice again today as well. We did have snow last year, and probably will this year. it just varies by how much. My home is right in the middle of the US, if you look at a map. We were up very near Canada and the Great Lakes, and a little more north east, visiting family.

Yes, you have to consider, round trip it was more than 3,000 miles. I started a discussion due to a car problem, and now I will start another one. Always an adventure. Our usual visits are to my family and that is just a little over 225 miles away, or three and a half hours drive.

It seems so amazing for someone coming from our small nation to imagine travelling 1600miles in your own country!!!!!!

Well, we had some unusual November weather on some of the days in last few days, here in and around Delhi. It rained and there was almost no sunshine during the last few days. However, it has gotten warmer today and we have a good amount of sunshine.

Oh a good amount of sunshine would be good. In fact ANY sunshine would be good for us at the moment"!"!

It's windy and cold here in Taunton. I hate the cold.

it seems so long since our 'summer' doesn't it!! I'm not really a winter person at all, I love to be tottering about in my garden or in the pool not shivering and turning the heating up!!

Unfortunately, snow is but a dream for a person like me who lives in a tropical country. I would actually love to experience winter at least once in my life. :)) The weather in my country hasn't been good recently. It's constantly raining but when it doesn't rain, it's really warm. Usually around this time of the month, it would be relatively cooler (meaning not as warm as summer) but now it's almost the same temperature as summer. And there are reports of typhoons entering our area of responsibility continuously until the year ends.

True enough! I generally like the weather in my country; I can go to the beach and stuff like that even in December. BUT I would like to experience other seasons aside from rainy and sunny. LOL It's just this year, the weather is out of whack. It's raining even if it shouldn't be. It's too warm even if it should be a bit colder...:))

I know just where this year has gone I do not know - seems like it was only yesterday we were preparing for last Christmas! Or is that just a sign of me getting old??

I think we might be heading for a harsh winter given the behaviour of the birds at the moment. Here the past few days have been wet and very windy (lazy wind) which is starting to drive me nuts as it curtails a lot of outdoor activity. We even had a bit of sleet this afternoon (I know, I was out in it!). I don't mind the odd freeze because it kills off a lot of bugs in the soil but I do get worried that the new thing seems to be freezing one day and warm enough to walk around in a t-shirt the next!
@oldchem1 (8132)

Long time since I heard the expression 'lazy wind' my Mum used to say it saying that the wind would rather go through you than round you!! The hills like me have quite a bit of snow on them, think I'll get my spade in the car now!!

The last week or two has been really cold temperatures at night. Frost and all that lovely stuff. Forcing me to turn the heater on and it being a pain to walk outside during the day. If it was forty degrees during the day, then it would considered to be rather warm on those days. It looked like winter was coming a bit early, all we needed was snow and ice to complicate the situation. However, today it is nice. So nice that we could turn off the heater and throw the windows open. Sixty degree days, which is shocking for this time of the year. I went outside for a while and went for a walk earlier this morning. Best enjoy this weather while it lasts. It is supposed to cool back down during the weekend and it will be more of the same that one might expect during this time of the year. Still very nice and surprising tune of events to say the very least.

Snow is rare but not unknown on the south coast. It usually turns to brown slush in next to no time. I could do with a break in the rain right now: I've dug the feature pond in the front garden, but cannot line it because it's perpetually full.

Hi! Today we have a blue, cloudless sky with a light breeze and a temp of not quite 70 degrees! Can't ask for much better than that! But yes, we do on occassion see snow. Seldom more than an inch or two and it rarely stays for more than a day or so. But as far as I'm concerned snow can stay on the xmas cards.

Well, interesting you asked this question because it is my first snow day here in the city! I recently located here from another state that rarely ever experienced snow and this was my first time ever seeing it fall down from the sky. I must say, they picture it way more beautifully in movies. Nonetheless, it is such a beautiful thing to experience. It wasn't too harsh today so I don't know how the few months to come will hold up. I actually want to experience a real snow storm to know what it feels like! And many people have told me to go out and buy boots, even though I'm not a boot person. Well, hoping for the best in this snowy weather!

Once in a great while, we'll see snow, generally in February. On the whole, tho, we only see snow at Christmas on Christmas cards. We've had some cold days, but that's cold for TEXAS, we haven't gotten below freezing yet in town.

To be honest we rarely have snow at Christmas either! This snow is very early this year - that's what's worrying me!

Well this morning it was really hot in Angeles City Pampanga, so it was a terrible day for me because I'm schedule to watch over our mini sari-sari store. It's really hot and I'm sweating big time, eventhough I have a electric fan it didn't help abit. Hope that the weather will be abit colder as Christmas is near approching

Here in our place now since beginning of the year never taste any single drop of rain, most probably before end of the year, so hot season always here but starting September up to February a little bit cold specially in the early morning but the rest totally hot and sandstorm sometimes. By the way I'm here in Jeddah Saudi Arabia... no snow here like in the Christmas card... thanks see you around
