Our works restaurant is currently displaying flyers promoting a "4 coarse" Christmas lunch... I suppose thats logical really given the usual quality of the food - it is pretty rough

Sounds like it is a high fiber menu, perhaps.

You made me laugh out loud. Maybe they'll have "mashed" potatoes, quote marks because they aren't mashed well. That would be pretty coarse, right?

Oh, yes... I really hate lumpy mash. I think you must have visited this restaurant and sampled the cuisine to give you the inspiration for your username

Probably a distinct lack of gravy or sauce...

I find myself proofing things like that all the time. In my head, anyway....

Quite often, I wont mention them because I dont want to come across as 'picky' or pedantic but there are plenty of "oversights" in memos from 'above'

Hiya Wizz, Cheer up maybe that was just a pun they put in there to make everyone smile a bit and make comments about it. Could be that the Food will turn out to be surprising to say the least. It might be really good. Someone´s spelling mistake does´nt mean that the Christmas Dinner will turn out that way at least I hope not just for you and your workmate´s sake. When I read the "coarse" bit I thought of something dry and rubbery then I thought of Sandpaper but those are only associations that I make with the adjective that´s all. Like the time I was looking for Christmas Carols Cds in Spain and it read on the outside cover of the Cd. "Jungle Bells" instead of Jingle Bells way to go. But me and a mate was splitting ourselves laughing about the idea of Jungle Bells.

It wont make any difference to me what the foods like as I'm not going to be eating it. We are going to a local carvery in the evening for our Christmas meal... we dont have time to eat a 4-course meal during our 30minute lunch break. Ha! I like the Jungle Bells

Hiya Wizzy, What an Indigestion that would give you to try and eat a Four Course Meal in thirty Minutes yuk. You would not have time to enjoy anything at all. It could make you feel quite queasy too I would say depending on the "coarse" Menu they have put together. Never mind you have the Carvery to look forward to and be able to enjoy your Christmas Meal in peace and quiet and no one treading on your toes to hurry up and finish eh? Hope you enjoy it I really do.
