People have various sleeping postures. After my accident, in which I broke my hip bone and was bed ridden for 8 months, wearing a plaster cast from neck to toe, I can’t sleep well, if I lie in bed with my back ; so I sleep one sided. More over as per ‘Vastu’ rules I keep my head towards east and legs to west. My PEMF machine, (pulsed electro-magnetic-field therapy machine) on which I sleep for 4 hours at night, for my diabetes problems is also kept in east-west direction. I never sleep with my body ‘north-south’, the earth’s magnetic field acts in this direction. We Hindu’s put the body of a person after death in ‘north-south’ position. So how you sleep normally? Do you use a mattress and pillows and blankets? I use a 4” think high density foam mattress, over which a cotton sheet is placed. Use 2 pillows, I don’t need any blanket even in winter, a thick sheet of pure cotton is enough. Professor

Well, I don't know what direction my head and feet point in when I am sleeping because we have recently moved our bed around in the room and I also don't have a compass to be able to tell it. That said, I sleep on one of my two sides almost 100 percent of the time. I keep two comforters and a sheet on the bed in addition to having an extra blanket in case I get cold. I love having the weight of the blankets over me while I am sleeping.

No need of compass dorann The direction in which sun rises is east, if you face that direction than your right hand points to south.. Thank you so much for response. Professor. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead. God bless you. Welcome always.

I always start sleeping on my right side and sleep that way for most of the night. Sometimes I will switch to my left for awhile. If I'm having a hard time sleeping I will sleep on my stomach as for some reason I find that soothing and I often fall asleep. But the problem with that is I usually end up with back pain. When I do this I try to remember to put a pillow underneath my stomach to prevent my back from sinking in and it helps to some degree. I usually try to avoid sleeping in this position if I can. I always sleep with a sheet and comforter all year around unless it's really chilly I will add a thick blanket. I'm in Canada so sometimes it can get quite cold but most of the time where I am the temps. are decent.

I really feel the cold so at the moment we've got two duvets and an electric blanket! I have to sleep on my back with a big pillow under my knees to help with my knee and back pain. It often keeps me up unfortunately.

hi professor I have to sleep on my left side to get any sleep and am not sure why this is.I have a lot of allergies that keep me awake although I use benadryl ever night. lately I sleep til 3;30 am then wake up and have a hard time getting back to sleep. This morning I just finally gave up and got up. Now I am sleepy and expect company so cannot really count on getting any naps in today.Sometimes one cannot seem to win in getting really good sleep at night when you really should be sleeping. em]thumbup[/em]

I am not blessed with good sleep. my husband comes home after midnight from his work. He wants me to serve dinner for him. After going to bed my children call me in the middle of the sleep. So my sleep is always disturbed by my husband and my children. As I don't have enough sleep I don't bother about the directions. But all of the beds in my house are facing east west direction.

Hello Professor2010! I sleep flat on my back when I am trying to get sleep but sometimes when I wake up, I find myself lying on the left side. I am not really very particular with my sleep position, as long as my bed is comfortable, it would be enough, I use a comforter as well. I can't sleep without it, it gets too cold at night so I have to cover myself before I freeze. Cheers!
