As most of you know, little Gissi is not to well at all But, yesterday afternoon he just well ..........livened up, but he did things yesterday he has never done before and I mean as long as I have had my little Boy, he has never done these things Lunchtime,................ My Friend Jean (Roxy's Mum, Roxy is Gissi's big Love) came to see us, as she wanted to see how he was doing, while she was here I gave her Buster and Roxy's Presents to take with her ( they are her Dogs) to put under the tree, the Presents have been standing on the Floor all wrapped up in the Bedroom Well, Jean put them on the Floor next to her, next thing we new, Gissi dragged the bag and tried to open it I was shocked and stunned as he has NEVER done this before, he won't even open his own...........well he had problems getting the Celletape of so we did not worry to much, next thing he ripped the back with his paws by digging and he got Busters present out which is a Christmas chewy boot with bits inside, we tried to take it away but he would not have any of it, it was a case of Tug of war, he managed to get the wrapping of that as well, he then got all the bits out of the Boot, chewed each one a bit and then barked and looked at us, I was just so stunned, I could not say anything, Jean was laughing so much that she had tears running down her face lol, he then left it all there, I told Jean I would get Buster a new one, she said, no don't be silly so we put it all back in the boot and the Boot back in its bag of course the Christmas Bag was in shreds, Gissi then laid down on his Cushion all proud By late afternoon he was going downhill again, He just slept and seemed to have no energy, I phoned the Vet and told her what had gone on, she said that it is good news but we have to see how he goes after he comes of the Meds hopefully what ever was wrong will have cleared At 6pm I had to give Gissi his Meds again, at 8pm Karen and Rob came round to make sure as well that I am ok and that Gissi was doing better, Gissi started playing so he was up again and quite happy Half an hour later, Gissi jumped up on me and nipped my Nose, I just looked at him, he was barking at me while jumping about on me, from then on every time I tried to talk to Karen and Rob, Gissi would jump on my chest and either nip my Nose or lick my face It took me a while to tell Karen what I was trying to say to her as Gissi just would not let me talk and we where all laughing as it was just so funny, I then decided to let him out the back thinking he might need to go out, as I got of the Settee after managing to get the little Devil of me, he Nipped my Butt as I got up, well he has never done any of these things, we where all just laughing so much, specially when I turned round to ask him what he was playing at, he sat there with his head to the side and ears up as if to say ....."It wasn't me, Mum" ........... we just could not stop laughing, When I let him out, he stood there looking as if to say "Yeah now what, do you know how cold it is out here, he then went back indoors , I was baffled I came back in, he pulled my Trouser Leg, something else he has never done By 11pm though he went to bed and went all quiet again, just wanted to sleep Basically what the Vet is saying that while he is on the Meds he seems ok, what we need to wait and see is when he has finished them how he reacts and how he is Ok I get all that, but the things he is doing, he has never done, yes he has always been up to mischief and up to his little tricks but all this, no way .......................What has happened to my little Gissi here

I hope he does as well when he is off the meds as that sounds so good to hear he is up to some new tricks. what a character is my little man in the doggie suit. I think he loves to hear you and your friends laugh like maybe it comforts him. I think perhaps he like us humans gets worried about himself when he feels ill.Hope he will be even better when he is off his meds. He must have had a hard life before you found him and rescued him,Maybe our mylot prayers have helped too as I think we have real prayer power when we all get together.give Gissi a ton of hugs from Aunt Hatley and heres ome for you too. loveya both.

It could be that Gissi is scared with all his health problems and he knows you see that he gets medicine to feel better so he wants your full attention all the time. Humans cannot really tell just how scared our pets get when they are ill but they do know who takes care of them.

I can only relate to what happens to humans who are recovering from illness and are on meds. As you rest your body revives and shortly after you take your meds you may feel a lot better, even have a big spurt of energy but as these two things wear off your human body goes back into rest and recovery zones. Gissi is such a little guy that he goes through all these steps much faster. If I were you I would just give him attention when he requests it and let him rest when needed. If you can stop worry and project only good thoughts toward him, your positive energy should protect him like angel wings. This will give him the best chance and also make you feel better. Blessings as always.

Hi Sue He has a Heart Murmur and also an enlarged Heart which I am keeping under control, but as soon as he gets sick he has to go to the Vets because it puts Pressure on his Heart which can turn into a Heart attack or stroke, he also has to have Steroids for the rest of his Life as he has allergies He has to have Tablets for his Heart to but luckily only once a week as his lungs fill with water and I know when to give to him because he starts coughing and has severe Problems breathing, so I have to rub his Lungs till he has calmed down again, then give him his Tablets

Hiya gabs, Oh that is terrible but with the Vets being so good now he will be okay I am sure. He has allergies too. He seems to be very strong though. I have never had a Dog with that Problem it must be quite stressful for you as well to see him like that sometimes. Hope 2011 brings you and him better health always. Have a really nice Christmas both of you and stay well. Hugs. Sue.xxx

I'm guessing the meds are working and soon he'll be back to himself. And because he feels better, don't be surprised at all the things he's going to do. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the meds will "permanently" make him better. What a little show-off... Have a great day, Gabs.

It sounds like his meds are some heavy duty happy pills. I was smiling an chuckling the whole time I read this. Is wonderful to hear Gissi being so lively. He gets so rambuctious it tuckers him out. He gets so worn out he has to have a nap. He sure is something. I do hope the meds help him and he stays well. He has become special to all of us.

I don't either Gaby. Make sure that you keep the vet in the loop on what is going on. They may have to see him again or they will know what is going on and do what is needed for him. Do you think he may be have seizers? I know my Jackie does and he is pitiful when they happen. It breaks my heart. hugs...

Hi gabs, I am very behind with my notifications and I read your previous posts about Gissi but I thought I would respond to your latest one. First of all I am sorry that your little man is sick and I do agree that it is strange that he is behaving so differently but I wonder if it has anything to do with the medication he is on or the fact that he is unusaually inactive for long periods and when he feels a little better he has energy to burn. It does sound like he is seeking a lot of attention which is probably the symptom of feeling so unwell. I will keep Gissi in my prayers for a good recovery. Take care gabs...

Are his meds steroids? I have seen children on steroids get all ornery and have mood and energy swings. I would not be surprised if it affected pets that way as well. Whatever it is, I would bet that the medicine is aggravating his behaviors.

Im starting to think its "CHANGE your M.O. month" for dogs. as my coco has been doing strange funny things also. like "talking" to me like she does my son. which she never done before. jumping at me and barking then laying down, looking at me like shes waiting for me to respond. maybe its some kind of psychological thing with them over all thats going on. you should maybe try putting the meds in a treat type thing. since he was willing to chew those. i could never get meds down coco without wrapping in a peice of cheese and then i have to double check that she didnt spit out the meds and swallow the cheese. which i have to remind her, she gets no more cheese unless she swallows the pill with possibley gissi feels better but dont want to let you know. they are extremely intelligent at times.

Hi Gabs & Gissi! I'm not really sure what to make of Gissi's silliness! It probably has something to do with the medication that he's taking. I just hope our "little man" will be back to "himself" really soon. Me, and his cousins Star & Luna have been so worried about him. They ask me about him all day! They want to know when they can "talk" to Cousin Gissi again. I told them I will speak to his Mum and when he is feeling better we will see what we can do. (I'm going to send you an email in private email later). There are so many of us praying for Gissi and I'm sure he knows how loved he is and so are you my dear sweet Gabs~ Sending you bright blessings, prayers and hugs, Les

What has happened to your little Gissi? He is recovering and he does all his best to let you know that. He only doesn't have so much energy because he suffered these days, and he needs sleep, too. I'm glad he's like this, I hope he'll be back to himself soon. Please give him all my love. Binne salutes him, too.
