Why don't more mylotters comment on the news?

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen too many discussions flowing from the news articles posted on mylot, and I am often the only one who comments on the few news articles that I pick out to chat about. Why don't more people start discussions/comment on the news? Is it because they think we don't get paid for those posts? Or because they don't know that we can discuss them? Or is it the content of the news itself? What do you think?

Hi there. Hmm good discussiob. I myself wasn't aware of its existance until you brough it out! Guess I am going to check on that after this. Another reason could be maybe people are less boring with it. I not sure but that's what I think. People are more interested in earning money and minor things that we could change for the better. Just my two cents!

I tend to discuss the news with people i work with and with my husband. I prefer to talk about other things when i am on here. if it is an article or topic that i feel deeply about, i will respond, and add my 2 cents.

Yes, sometimes I prefer talking about the news and writing about other things. Really, the important thing is to follow the news, so we all stay informed.

I guess the reason why I don't really comment on the news here is because I usually forget that it's there most of the time. Usually I just come on, check my balance then go straight to the discussions.

I am not able to speak for everyone, but most of the time I don't even really pay attention to the news pieces that I can see on the homepage. I am more interested in having discussions with people and the few times that I have commented on the news here, there is nothing more than a comment left there but there is no discussion about it. I like being able to interact with other people and that is the reason that I tend to stick to discussions started by other members.

God point--I have never really had a discussion get started over any of the news articles I have commented on, but I do like to read them to keep (somewhat) informed on what's going on out there...

I don't really comment on the news ever since I joined mylot 8 months ago, I usually do not have enough time to comment on those news where I need to respond to all my friends' discussion. I remembered I only posted one comment on one of the news. And that was around last month. The reason why I do not post comment on the news is because those news are normally are written so lengthy and that will consume me some time to finish read it. So, to save time for others, I prefer not to post comment on news.

Reading the news will help strengthen your English, and help you build up confidence enough to comment on the news, too.

I'm too busy just trying to stay up with the notifications that I get from my friends and what I've started to look at the news!

hi Suzieqmom I think its with me just a matter of forgetting the bnew is there as most of the time I work right out of my email responding gto notifications and then deleting as I go so I am not often on the home page really. but occasionally I will respond to an interesting new item.I know we all should use them much more often but as I said I work from myt email account mostly.

That can be a problem for me, too. I'm trying to break that habit--maybe the best way is to turn off the notifications for a week and see if that frees up some time to look at other stuff.

I know half of the time, I forget it is there. Therefore, it is really just something that I am going to take a look at and look over it. That actually reminds me to look over there and see if there are any news that I can comment on. Then again, it could be just like my normal policy with the news. I avoid it, due to the fact it makes me depressed and cynical as well.

I normally comment on a great deal of the articles, but I must admit that for around 2 -3 weeks I have not. Normally I do after midnight as this is when I clear out my entire in box and find that I have a little more time to head over and read about the news. Thanks for the reminder as I kinda been too buys lately.

I know what you mean. . it took me two days just to respond to all of the people who posted comments here! This time of year, it's especially hard to find extra time. . .sometimes I don't even have time to read the news, much less comment on it.

i think there may be some reasons, we can not specify what the exactly reason is, because every person has different reason, as far as me is concerned, when i read my e-mail i got some comments and new discussion, then i get in commenting the discussion or responding and we could not have time to read news at my lot. I read news and watch news channels through internet, that's why i feel it is better to discuss some thing new which is related to us.

Not commenting on the news denotes a degree of apathy for important social issues. However social awareness is not based on whether people can comment or not on news. Perhaps the news is on their mind but they do not yet have a well defined opinion or view about it.

welcome you to start opening the new type of discussions for news. i also like that, maybe people care about the daily life more than the news regarding the country or around the world. i will support you if you going on...

They didnt know that news and blogs actually pays money too, commenting in news and blogs and pictures, are actually being paid because its considered as a participation. If people only knew what works. Many people thought discussions is the only way to earn here in mylot. Its a good section but people were ignoring it.They didnt know those sections pays.

You may be right, for some people at least. Either they don't know that you get paid for it, or they don't even know they can comment on it.

Hiya Suzie, No idea either why People don´t want to comment on the News either. Me like myself I don´t have much time to mess around so I go to discussions I can answer right away if I can and easy going ones make it much easier for me and everyone else I think too. Maybe they don´t like that line of discussion everyone has likes and dislikes. If I find a discussion too heavy going I have to leave it as I just don´t have the time to think it over properly and answer it properly. So at the moment I just answer my Friends all I can and that´s it.
