Hello guys, i'm reminding myself my childhood now, because of some old friends in facebook. I retell my boyfriend how i lived before, when i was a child. I was so happy to have my friends. We shared so funny time together with games and it was one saved time, when our parents were calm that nothing bad can happen with us, even if we play on the street together until it gets late. One of the signs of my childhood for me was the Coca Cola, 1 liter in a glass bother. We didn't have this plastic bottles in Bulgaria. Then we had to buy yogurt in glass jars, oil in glass bottles and people had to wait so long before they could buy such stuff. Every time we went to the store, there was around 10 people, who were there earlier than us, waiting... Other sign on my childhood was the ice cream Delta, it was so delicious. All the kids loved that ice cream, the first one made by milk in my country. When we were kids here we collected notes with different smells and pictures. It was hobby for us, we had special albums where we put some special page, because we could exchange different pages with our friends. Other thing, which were really popular here was the Ninja Turtles, we had snacks with stickers with different faces from the children movie and we collected them too. Now i have nothing left from my childhood, i don't know where all this stuff went, but i wish i could have something to look and something to remind me what a happy kid was I. It was so cool time, so carefree, when our parents were happy, when we had guests at home all the time, doing stuff with our parents, without any troubles and problems. So now i want to ask you, what are the signs of your childhood? I would be really interested to know how you lived before 20 years, even if you were not a child, but grown up. How the life was looking in your eyes?

My dad just passed away on Dec. 7th so we have been reliving a lot of memories. I remember living the life of no worries, actual mail, pop in glass bottles (man it tasted so much better than plastic), when calculators were frowned upon in school, and no one had a cell phone. Back in those days you actually had to do your school work and show your work, not just the answers. If you got cough with a calculator you got sent to detention. You sent a letter and got an answer back in a week, delivered by a person not a bling in the computer speakers , lol! If you wanted to call home to check in you had to have a quarter in your pocket to put into the payphone. The computer, no one knew what that was since if you were lucky you might have a Commadore Vic20 that had a cassette tape for storage, lol!! That was high tech! The game system, if you had one was the very basic Atari or maybe the Arcadia if you were rich. Christmas, we were happy with whatever we got, not complain if it was a last year model. Lots of stuff, wonderful stuff, all the memories!! Have a great day!!

Thank you for the condolences and the loss is fine as my Dad was in pain all the time towards the end, he had post polio syndrome and now there is no more pain nor suffering for him as he is in a better place. I miss him dearly but I am glad that he has moved on into his rewards, so there is no need for sadness he was 77years old and had lived a very good life full of love. It is so weird looking at all of the photos and such from the past as it seems in my mind that it was just yesterday. I forgot about the TV, for one there was no remote as we had to get up and turn the dial to change the channel. A-Team, Dukes Of Hazard, Bugs Bunny & Road Runner, and then came the Ninja Turtles and such. Hell I remember the days before cable TV when you had to turn your antenna towards the station to get the channel, Dad put the antenna next to the front door so we did not have to go too far into the cold to turn it, lol!! The telephone was tethered by a long curly cord and there was no push button only rotary. Popcorn was loose and made on the stove in a pan rather than put into the microwave in a convenient little bag, Jiffy pop was a luxury. I remember when my daughter seen loose popcorn for the first time, when she was 15 (lol), she asked me what it was and when I told her she asked how to make it. Halloween, oh man you got all sorts of stuff and did not have to worry about someone trying to kill or hurt you by tampering with candy, and there was no "Healthy" stuff, it was ALL CANDY!! God there was sooo much back then and life was so much better and simpler, man I wish I had a Time Machine!! Once again thank you and have a great day!!

It could be really amazing if we had time machine. One day, when i have kids and when i see them spending lots of time on the computers or in the coffee shops, or in gossip with their friends, i would show them what made me happy as a child. It would be really happiness for me.

Oh gosh. Not that I don't love being an "adult" of 20 years old or anything..But I totally miss my childhood! There were so many little things that take me back. Whenever I go on a road trip out into the country, it reminds me of the trips my parents would take me and my sister to up north to our old cabin (now, nonexistant). It was a blast. I spent most of my childhood drinking Shastas, eating Now & Laters for lunch and my mom's Hamburger Helper for dinner.. I had a good childhood! I don't distinctly remember Coke ever being in glass bottles, though, because I just don't remember ever having any.. But then again, I was born in 1990, so maybe that was a little before my time. who knows. lol!

Oh I am old, and I have come to terms with it, lol!! I do not take it personal as it was a learning experience and I like to talk smack. But the scary thing is that I am the Baby in my family of 6, lol!! I am a Dad and a Grandpa of two thus far, lol! I would love for my kids and grand kids to have the care free childhood that I had, but it will never be, but as you said, I still have the memories.

We can actually still get those Coca Colas in glass bottles but it just isn't the same as when we had them when I was a kid. I really do miss my childhood days. Things were easy, we were all happy and carefree without having to deal with all these responsibilities. I remember chasing after the ice cream truck with my friends. We'd also go bike riding around our neighborhood. It was great back in the days, us kids could go running around all over the place without having to worry about getting kidnapped or attacked or anything like that. I also remember playing touch football. My house was located in a court so it was an ideal location. On the weekends we'd usually have these get togethers at my house so there would be at least 20 kids running around. We'd all go out front and play football and do other fun things. But the best part about my childhood was during the summers. We hardly ever spent a day at home. Our family and friends would all go to places like the park or the zoo and we'd pack picnics for the entire day.

I know the sentiment about being a kid and wanting to do so many different things. I wanted to participate in the summer program at my school but was never allowed to. But I'm not complaining because my summers were great.

It's so amazing that you had such kind of childhood, i still remember mine with the same feelings as you share right now. And yes, we were carefree, our parents were healthy and in good situation, so no worries at all. I never played sports, but i so much wanted to start playing martial arts ... My parents didn't allow me, but it was so nice to want it

Once in a while Coke comes out with these promotional items which are small 8 oz bottles. I went to the Coke store in Vegas a few weeks ago, and again I saw these bottles. That's one of the things that remind me of my childhood. These days, at Christmas time, me and some neighbor friends used to do some Christamas carolling for money. I don't see kids doing these anymore. Just another thing I lost in my childhood.

Nowadays a lot of things changed, Bounce. I ... kind of miss my own childhood and specially all the stuff we were able to do. Just now i read one text about the present days, it's wrote from american... I'll try to paste a part of it, just to translate it, because it's on bulgarian language. "The paradox of the present days is that we have high buildings, but low tolerance, wide highways, but tight points of view. We spend a lot of money, but we have little money, we buy more, but we enjoy less. We have big houses and little families, more comfort, but less time. We have more education, but less understanding, more knowledge, but worse assessment." and so on ... it's written by George Carlin and the text is so true.... I just loved reading it earlier. It reminded me a lot about the time when for us was more important to have little, but appreciated than more, but to take everything usual and as we 100% deserve it without any hard working.

We watched Ninja Turtles as well, Power Rangers were really popular, and so was Saved by the Bell. My favourite thing was my bike, a few of us would go out on our bikes on most days, and the best day in school was a thursday when we had our safe cycling lesson, so we were allowed to take our bikes to school and then we would ride them home instead of taking the school bus. On weekends my parents would sometimes take us out for day trips to different places, we would always take a pile of sandwiches, little bottles of lemonaid and packets of crisps, and at some point myself and my sister would argue, we fought like cat and dog growing up but we are a lot closer now. The ice-cream van used to come to my street in summer, so as soon as we could hear the music played all the kids used to run out of their houses. We also used to make tree swings, and I ripped lots of clothes due to these rope swings, as my clothes would always get caught on a branch or something while on the swing. Anyway those are some of my favourite memories from my childhood.

Thanks for sharing friend, Power Rangers were popular here too, also the Captain Planet, where few teens had their own rings for water, fire, land and wind, it was so amazing... We had special tv program in the weekends with kids movies.

Coke bottle - Just about visible - the coke bottle!!
Actually my daughter had a glass bottle of coke only last week.It was a special red Christmas bottle but the traditional shape. She took a picture of her snowman cake (sad I know!!) and on it you can just see her coke bottle in the background. Picture included.

Why is it sad friend? Your daughter wants to keep her memories collected and that's so so great. I wish my mom was saving all my collections as a child - smelling pictured lists of little notebooks, pictures of child movies characters, it would be great .... For my own life, i would say that when i grow up, these things with the smelling lists and the pictures from snacks were so unimportant, but now i appreciate my childhood and it could be really wonderful if i had pictures or even the albums with my child collections. This could be our time machine, don't you think so?

It certainly could. How I wish I had known the things I know now when I was younger - there are lots of things I would have kept!!

Oh, hun, believe me, i would kept lots of stuff too, but it's great idea to do it with my children one day, everything which will be for short use or will be on the market for short time will be photographed and we will keep it in album for the future

I do remember the times when I could buy Coca Cola in a glass bottle. I believe there was a difference in taste coming from a glass bottle as oppossed to it coming in a plastic bottle later.

Hello friend, i was little girl when we could buy that glass bottle, so i don't remember the taste, but i know that the plastic change the taste for sure, if the same bottle is used too long. Thanks for sharing.

Of course I remember the Glass Bottle Coca-Cola. That time I remeber how the commercial of coca-cola is. And I think that is the best version of Coca-Cola. I usually drink the 250ml. I still remember the 150ml glass bottle soda in the wooden crate. Every festive season we always buy that and what funny is we queue for our turn to take a bottle each from our parents. No such thing as I will take it whenever I feel I want to drink. No permission no drink. that how discipline children that time. There are a lot of things which I cannot remeber now but I do wish food are that cheap nowadays.
