Do You Panic When Your Rings Late At Night?

In my opinion,When my phone rings, say after 11:00 PM, I automatically think it's someone calling with bad news and i sort of panic when this happens, even though i have a friend who once in awhile will call me at this hour, just to chat because she can't sleep, i still become frightened until i realize it's her.I feel unless you do know anyone who makes it a habit of calling you late at night, you can't help thinking it may be someone calling with bad news, since "most"of the time calls just to say hello are not made at that hour. interested to know, do you feel the same way? and do you panic if and wqhen this occurs.?

Even if i know it may be someone who usually calls late at night like my friend used to do,i still get nervous if the phone rings after a certain hour.there's just something about hearing that ring that can be very welcoming during the day and yet so ominous at night.BTW,about the girl that calls your son at all hours of the night,(ditto on that evil grin)did he ever tell her to stop doing this?not that she would stop since it sounds like she sounds determined in trying to get back with your son, but can't se do this at a decent hour,? lol

I have caller ID on my phone so, when the phone rings i can check to see who it is.But,i still have to hear it ringing before i see who's calling so late and this is what frightens me. So, the only way you can check if it's the wrong number is by going to the phone and answering it.

I think it is very rude to call others at late hours. If it is not necessary, nobody should make a call so late, unless it is something urgent. If I hear the phone ring at midnight, I will be worried because I am afraid I will hear any bad news. I love China

Yes, it is rude and can be very frightening as well, especially late at night. If it's not important or an emergency, i don't want anyone calling me after midnight.

h jujuinme I am the same way and here the other night I' was called at eleven thirty and I was shaking . It was not even for me. some man on voice mail was trying to tell some jerk who had sent him a letter about some controversial matter he has to write the caller back and explain what the problem was. He then asked this person if he still had and he gave a phone number that was one digit off from my phone number and the most irritating thing was I had no way of telling this older man that he had the wrong phone number. there I stood shivering and it was almost midnight and the call was not even for me. At least it was not bad news for me. ll

Hi Hatley: When someone calls late at night and you find out it's the wrong number, you don't know whether to be angry at the person who called and scared the wits out of you, or be so grateful that at least it wasn't someone you know calling with bad news.i usually feel both emotions, since ths used to happen to me on more than one occasion, so, i know how you must have felt. you think i'd learn to turn the ringer off after hours, but, i never do.

It's freaky, I agree. Nobody will call so late in the night. There was once my mother's friend called after we were asleep and it's so scary. I thought something was going to happen.

I agree it's very weird and that's because most people who just want to say hello or chat with you, don't usually call in the middle of the night, so when someone does, you automatically think they're calling with some bad news and that something terrible must have happened.and it's even worse when your're asleep and the phone wakes you up, very scary.

I think that there are times where my phone has rang late at night and just like you i think the worst, thankfully that has only happened the once.My mother is the person that rings me late at night as that is the best time to get to chat to me as there is noone here and the children are upstairs, so easier to talk to her.

it's always less nerve wracking when there are people in your life who regularly call you late at night, as you mentioned your Mom does so, you're kind of expecting it.But sometimes, even when i know who it might be, it still can jar my nerves a little.it may be because things are usually much more quiet late at night and the ringing of the phone disturbs the quiet time.

It largely depends on what time it is when the phone rings and who it is. In general, the people who call me know that I am a "night owl" and what sort of schedule I keep. I suffer from insomnia caused by a thyroid condition, so it is extremely rare for me to be in bed before 2 a.m. If friends or my sisters call around that time, I don't panic, but if it were someone who doesnt generally call me after say 8,like my dad, then yes, I panic. I have paniced everytime I have received a text message or phone call from a certain person for the last 10 days. His dad(who is my boss) is in the hospital recovering from some heart surgeries, so, I am weary of getting bad news when he calls.

I did mention this in a previous response that when you know anyone who is quite ill, "anytime" the phone rings , your mind immedately tells you it must be the call you were dreading and something tragic has happened and although , like you, i'm also an "night owl," i do tell people not to call me after a certain hour, since, even though i know who it might be on the other end, i'm never 100% until i answer the call, so just hearing the phone ring, makes me quite nervous.

You should tell your friends to stop calling you so late at night. i don't think it's funny to do this to anyone, even if their only playing around.but, if their doing this on a regular basis, maybe you are used to it by now, knowing who it is and not getting upset.

When I was new at my job, that was I felt back then. I know that if my phone rings at that time of the night, it would be work related and I know it is trouble. I work back then as a travel agent. That means some of our clients got stuck somewhere. So that means I have to do something and I have to run to the office in most cases. This went on for years or so. As time passes by when my phone rings at night, panic turns into irritation. I would tell myself I wish no one calls me anymore at night.

Having to be called in to work at an ungodly hour must be just as nerve wracking and irritating as having someone call for no other reason than to say hello or chat with you in the middle of the night when most of the time, people are awakened from their sleep yet, the person calling thinks nothing of it as you are shaking in your boots, believing it just had to be some bad news or else why would anyone be doing this and i agree you do start wishing people would stop calling at al hours of the night, very upsetting.

I too get panic when my phone rings late now. My mind says that I am going to hear a bad news.Sometimes it will be a wrong number, but when it rings unusually at odd time my heart tells that I am going to hear a bad news.
