My kids love making ginger bread houses this time of year. We do not buy the traditional gingerbread house kits, but make our houses out of graham crackers. We have been doing this for the last seven or eight years, and they really enjoy it. What Christmas activity do you like doing with your kids or Grandkids?

We make cookies. We make the shape ones and the kids decorate them. They ice them and put sprinkles on them and other decorations. We have been doing this since my 13 and 14 year old's were 4 and 5 years old. My 6 year old really loves doing it the most he could decorate the cookies for hours on end. The other two get tired of it after the first hour or so.

My kids love making and decorating cookies too. We do more baking and decorating during the holidays. This year, I even made them aprons for the cooking/baking experiences.

I think that making Christmas decorations for the tree is fun. I have also enjoyed making Christmas cookies with my girls throughout the years. I actually saw some gingerbread house kits and wondered if they would be fun. Is it hard to make them without the kit?

My oldest daughter and I made a gingerbread house one time. We baked gingerbread and trimmed and made it from scratch. It took almost all day, too. What really became a tradition as the younger kids grew up was making the dressing for the turkey together. There is a lot of chopping going on, then mixing and all the kids used to get in on it. My youngest daughter still does when she can. She and I will be making it together tomorrow evening (Christmas Eve).
