Shower gel VS. Bar Soap.

I think the Shower gel would win because it will devour the bar soap. Just Kidding. I used to or I grew up using bar soap in the shower but when I discovered the shower gel I switched. I began using shower gel instead because it creates less soap scum than those from bar soap. I switched because that bar soap is messy and builds up more soap scum that I have to clean. Now, I avoid using bar soap as much as possible as I find it inconvenient.

there's less cleaning after using a shower gel, but a bar of soap is more hygienic. I sell both. the thing is, bacteria breeds much more easily in a liquid, and that's why shower gels need preservatives in them but soaps are usually preservative free. I think it depends what you want to use it for. I enjoy shower gel to wash my hair and body, but I prefer a solid for hand washing, and will also use it for body washes.

usually some kind of a Paraben. bacteria grows more easily in a liquid base than in a solid one. add to that, you need less packaging for a solid soap than a gel. I like both, but soaps are more hygienic and more environmentally friendly.

It depends on the availability and its function. When my aunt buys me a bar soap, then I'll use it. If she buys me a shower gel, I'll also use it. XD. But, I use bar soaps more often since most whitening soaps are bar soaps.

Oh I see. I heard whitening products will cause you harm in the long run.

I saw it from my favorite TV channel though not directly about soaps but creams. I think that whitening products will get your melanin count go down. Melanin is important for your skin as it protects your skin from the UV rays of the sun. Another thing is that melanin regulates your circadian cycle, that is the cycle of sleep. So if you have low melanin because you lowered it your body will not act as normally as it should. here is the clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQgSB2E9S_o

Showergel is the better one due to convinence and so on but dont under estimate soap. There is a type of soap made out of watermelon seeds (yes watermelon) and trust me when i say this, it smells brillant, better than any showergel will.

I use bar soap because it is less expensive. I can buy a ten pack of ivory soap for 2.99, and it lasts me, literally, a year and a half. (I don't write these things down, I just know because I bought a pack brand new when I moved, and when I had to buy soap again I knew that I hadn't had to buy soap since I moved a year and a half previously!) I feel like shower gel was invented so people would spend more money on washing themselves. It's just like shampoo -- almost always you tip more into your hand then you need, or some slips out of your hand and is wasted. Soap does tend to be more drying than body wash, but I find that the value for money with body wash is so bad that I can't justify buying it with what little money we have coming in right now.

I only buy the cheapest one available or the ones that are on sale but compared to the bar soap it really is expensive. The thing about bar soap to me is the soap scum build up plus it gets smaller and smaller but I guess when it comes to those who can only afford bar soap it doesn't really matter.

I grew up using bar soap as well and I hated it after I discovered the magic of shower gel! It was so much nicer on the skin and didn't require continuous lathering and foaming as it did with the bar of soap. Unless I was using the soap wrong. Anyways, the shower gel was pretty much idiot proof. You grab a cloth and squirt some of the shower gel on and then scrub, scrub, scrub away! In all ways the shower gel is so much better! I would rather not shower than use bar soap again if it was my only option.

When I'm out of options it would be my last resort than no to take a shower.

for me, the bar soap is crap because it is unhygienic. all the germs from the previous bath will still be on the bar soap even after bath. i use he shower gel because it is also easier to buy and has more variety of scents than a normal bar soap.it is also easier to store away as it is in a bottle and not as slippery as the bar soap. the only good thin i can say about bar soap is that some are orange which is a great colour and you can actually buy many different bars with different colours and make your bath more interesting by placing them at random and guessing what bar you will pick at random.

That is true and I do have some bar soaps mainly for display not for use.

I don't recall the last time I bought a bar of soap for use in the bath or shower! It's way back,I know that...It just goes with the Idea of having a shower..it's simply more convenient to have the one product to bring in there with You..

I too prefer shower gel over bar soap. It's just easier in more ways than one and more convenient. I haven't used a bar of soap since I was little.. it's been shower gel for many years now.

haha.. i used to use bar soap when I was kid. i started using shower gel after I study in college.. and then i used bar soap again lately, because my friend said that it was a waste of money using shower gel since it is more expensive than the bar soap.. but actually i prefer to use shower gel because i like to use shower puff when shower..it is more clean than just using bar soap..

I have always used shower gel. It is more efficient than bar soap, it takes less time to use. Also there are more "scents" of shower gel than there is of bar soap, and available "scents" for shower gel can smell good.
