I want to find out a message in my inbox of gmail which was sent to me in the month of October, 2010. Is there any way to go directly to that particular date or have I to go back day by day by pressing the ‘older’ button until that particular date is reached, thus causing wastage of my valuable time? Can you suggest any remedy?

In the search box in your email, type: after:2010/09/30 before:2010/11/01 label:inbox For more search options, look at: http://programmersjournal.blogspot.com/2010/10/gmail-advanced-search-options.html Is that what you are looking for?

I think you have to go back through your messagess until you reach the one you want. But I have never done this.

But it is very time-consuming. Is there no short cut to it?

You can use the search button in your gmail. If you can remember the subject, just type it there, or the sender, or the date. Everything that has that data will be shown. even a keyword will help....

Gosh, I don't know if you can search a message within your mail box by using any search engine type of function in your mailbox though. I never thought about it, but it could be work. I hope that someone else here can tell you a method.

Gmail is one of my favorite mailing list. You can find any email by search option. there are two boxes saying "search mail" and "search web"..Select search mail and you will get results but if your mail is in spam folder then it may get deleted because in gmail, spam mails get automatically deleted after some months.

Just use the search facility. It'll search all your messages to find the right one.

Can you cntl 'F' for it? I don't know. On Yahoo there is a 'mail search' and you can put whatever is in the 'subject' line of the email. Any word in it. Rather than that I don't know what you could do. I don't know of any other mail besides Yahoo that has this option. You might be out of luck.
