Do you clearance shop after the holidays?

So for the past few years, I will get up early and head to the stores to check out their holiday clearance. This is always a good time to pick up wrapping paper and such for gifts for the next year. Sometimes, you can also stock up gifts for the next Holiday Season. Do you go clearance shopping? Or do you just wait until the beginning of the next Holiday season to purchase gifts and such?

I shop clearance all year round...especially based on the holidays for decorations and food specific to that holiday. Deco's for next year and the food for now, but couldn't afford it prior! I was just at couple stores today and they have all their christmas stuff on sale...come monday it will be marked down even more so I will go back then. I can't remember the last time I paid full price for something! I especially made sure I found some "santa" christmas stationery for next year. This year, I thought i had enough for the letters from Santa that I do for my grand kids, but ended up one sheet short and of course, it was the letter to my oldest who is teetering on growing out of Santa stage... I literally searched this city for one sheet of paper with a christmas theme and couldn't find anything! Well, I had one sheet from last year and just did it on that hoping against hope that she wouldn't remember (she has a great memory) and thankfully she didn't. And I found a pack of 25 really cute santa theme sheets for 99cents. I am ready for next year!

That is really great that you write Christmas letters to your grandchildren. I bet when they do find out it was you. They will cherish them always. You make me laugh. I am trying to think how many times, I have now paid full price for things. Then again, I don't think I have been as careful as I could be. I need to dig back deeper into my frugal shopping and such. I do however, make a lot of Christmas presents for the family during the year. I typically will do that finding supplies at several different second hand shops in the area.

I am all stocked up for next year! I love the after Christmas sales, and getting all the goodies on sale for half price! Well, I am stocked up on paper, bags and tape. I plan to start earlier on my gift making this year. I already have a few things in mind that will make cute cute gifts next year.

That's great. One thing that I do that I find helpful through out the year. I try to find a plain stripped paper so that I can wrap birthday gifts in it. Really helps when you can do that as well. I also have several gift ideas in mind for the next holiday season.

I am always looking at clearance racks and buying things to store away for certain things like birthdays and holidays. After Christmas I wait a month or so when all the Christmas clearance is 90% off and then I get some things like wrapping paper and decorations etc. Last year I hadent done it so this year when it was time to wrap presents at Christmas time I had to buy wrapping paper. I think that was the first time I ever had to do that since I usually stock up after Christmas is over.

One of my fall backs for wrapping paper, is the dollar store. They have some really cute wrappings that work great in a snap. True you don't get that big of a bang for the buck, but it does still work in a pinch.

I don't stock up for the next Christmas season..But I do like to buy myself some sale-stuff after Christmas. There was a 50% off sale at the local consignment shop and I got a bunch of cute sweaters for like $3 a piece. It was pretty amazing.

That is amazing. Right now, there are still a lot of stores, that are now cutting prices even more, some as much as by 90 percent on products. I about tripped over my own two feet when I saw that around here even.

I bought 10 rolls of wrapping papper and some gift bags for next year and hopefully i wont run out next year LOL. Well i probably wont be running out since i wont be at home for shopping and will be in TN to stay at the house there for christmas this year. I do this every year tho because i feel i am saving money but i didnt by tags that i needed or bows but not a big deal at all those things are cheap at least when at walgreens and they have abig sale going on so im not to worried about it. I was able to get christmas decorations as well for ahouse that i hope to buy this year. I have a lot of little chrristmas decorations as i have bought some for the last three years hoping to have a house one day and not live with my parents. Well Happy New Year and have a great day.

Hopefully you will be good to go for the next year. That is a lot of paper. I tend to do more gift bags and then after everyone is done, grab up the ones that are left behind, same with the tissue paper. When I purchase paper and stuff, I also try to buy generic wrap that can be used any time of the year. There is always that roll of solid red that works perfect with any color ribbon and for any age group.

I shop clearance racks all year round!! It doesnt matter if it is just after the holidays or not!! I never understood why people pay full price for things all of the time! Just today, I went clearance shopping. I was at Kohl's and they are having TONS of good sales!! Many of the Christmas items are marked down 70%! I also noticed a lot of the items that they got in just to sell as Christmas gifts are also already on clearance!! I was able to buy a pair of flannel pants for a gift for my brother-in-law, some butterfly kitchen towels, and a full sized bath towel and a fingertip towel that were winter themed all for less than $23. To make it even better, I had $20 in 'Kohls cash' to spend. We had tons of good deals before Christmas and got $20 in free money to spend this week! So for less than $3 I got a few more amazing gifts. I always get super excited when I find these good deals on anything! I hope you found some good items this year as well.

I have to admit, that it makes me scratch my head as well that people pay so much for things. I also tend to shop at the local thrift stores, not only are we helping out a charity but, we are reducing what could possibly end up in our landfills. That is wonderful that you can find such great deals. I know I also tend to hit the clearance racks through out the year as well. It is amazing what you can find.

Although this discussion is 11 months old, I think this is very timely, as I do clearance shop after holidays too. Last year, just after halloween and just after Christmas, I bought some decorations which were on clearance racks. I've already used a blown up witch decor this year which I bought for $10 (regular at $30) last year. And I will open up the Christmas decors after the Halloween.
