Usman Khwaja could be the next big thing in Australian cricket. The way he negated the England's attack and also made a valuable contribution in the form of 37 runs is quite good. He could the future of the ageing middle order of the Australian team.

I have to disagree with most the views expressed in this post. Usman Khwaja, looked surprisingly composed & confident for someone playing his first match. But due to his grip he seems handicapped to play straight. I feel that soon bowlers will devise a game plan against him. I would love to see him succeed but am doubtful about that.

Actually I liked what I saw of him there. Most batsmen at this level have talent, it is more about how confident they are to execute their talent at this level. He seemed to ooze confidence. That initial pull had all the arrogance of Ricky Ponting and that is good to see it in youngsters. You do not want them to play in their shells but come out and play their strokes and he definitely seemed to do that. Let's see how he progresses from here on. Cheers! Ram

I agree with you abhishek, Usman Kwaja is a great prospect for Australian cricket in the years to come. With Ponting, Hussey and even Clark due for retirement in near future, Kwaja could be replacement for one of them. The very fact that an unfamiliar name kwaja is called up in Australian line up shows his immense potential as a cricketer. The way he has faced the present English attack and scored fluent 37 is testimony to that. He is definitely going to make big name in near future.
