They are both very good brands. Will this be your first SLR? I would go for the camera that feels most comfortable to you. I've spent hours researching DSLR cameras and prices and playing with display models at local electronics stores. I started out looking at Nikon models because every other digital camera I've owned has been a Nikon. I tried out a couple of the Canon DSLRs, and they all felt awkward to me. I think I'm going to end up purchasing a Nikon D90 when the time comes. That's the model I feel most comfortable with.

I have not used nikon so far. I have been using a canon camera for many years. I have taken many many pictures with a canon of places I visited in my country and also in countries in different parts of the world I traveled to. Very beautiful pictures. I've got albums of those pictures, all taken with a canon camera.

It is a matter of personal choice. I perfer the Canon line. I have had very good results with my Canons ofere the years. I woulod suggest that you try to borrow each model and try it out. Many Camera Shops will rent you one for a day so that you can get the feel of the camera. You can't go wrong with either brand.

Lucky you. I was going to take the plunge and grab a slr this Christmas/Boxing day but have decided to wait until next year. For me it is canon all the way. Just personal preference. Always have had and have used canon camera over anything else. Canon is a brand that I trust. For your own information however, why not check out the following reviewed regarding canon vs Nikon and see what you think? Canon versus Nikon http://photo.net/equipment/35mm/canon-v-nikon Canon vs. Nikon Digital SLR Cameras http://www.digital-slr-guide.com/canon-vs-nikon.html Have fun with your new camera regardless of the brand that you decide to go with!
