McDonald's Oatmeal Delight

I, like everyone else, have a love-hate relationship with McDonald's. I'm convinced their fries have crack in them because there is no reason french fries should taste that good. Not to mention the delectable personal favorite of mine, the Big Mac. *fanning myself* That sandwich basically defined the company when it started. Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame bun? Come on! But we all know that although the Golden Arches make our mouths water and our tummies happy, it is hell on the waistline....until now. McDonald's recently debuted the fruit and maple oatmeal cup. It is one cup of oatmeal, sweetened with brown sugar and topped with fruits (apples, yellow raisins and regular raisins). I'm not a big oatmeal fan but I do know it's quite healthy for you, especially if dieting. My mom, who has never eaten oatmeal until yesterday, called me screaming in the phone about how good this was. I decided to give it a try today. OMG!!! This was so good. It's quite simple to make on your own too. What I love more than anything is that this dish is only 290 calories (if you order it without the sugar it's 260). Not bad, eh? It filled me up (although I do long for more) and tantalized my taste buds. I definitely give Mickey D's.

Although I don't really think that an oatmeal cup goes well with the image of the golden arches, I am glad that they are getting in with the times by introducing healthier options. Except for their coffee, I personally don't like their breakfast menu. So, it's great that there is something to pick if I do wander to Mickey D's before 10:30am.

Right. McDonald's is trying hard to keep up with the times and give the consumer what we need. Obesity is a huge problem in America. Bonus on the oatmeal is it is available whenever McDs is open.

I saw that they had oatmeal cups now. They are actually trying to add more healthy food choices to their menu. Along with a little variety. They have smoothies at the McDonalds in my area and they aren't half bad. The new salads that they are offering are pretty good too. I'll have to stop in and try the oatmeal cup if it's that good..lol..

Believe me the oatmeal cups are as good as I say. Only one problem, not nearly enough.

I was at mcdonalds buying my son a hamburger today and saw the fruit & maple oatmeal that they had for display on the sign. It looked good but I dont think it is something that I would like. It looks like something very healthy for kids though and my kids love oatmeal. Its hard to find healthy food choices for vegetarians at mcdonalds so this would be a good option for my daughter. My son ate two bites of the hamburger and that was it lol. I can only imagine how messy he would have gotten if he had gotten the oatmeal though.

That's a great idea! Although I prefer to make my own for just pennies. I like raisins, dates and walnuts in mine with some Sugar Twin brown sugar. It's good that McD's is offering healthier stuff but I would not buy it. After all, if I want to eat healthy I'll stay home! I go to restaurants in order to get a treat, something "bad" for me. I don't go often and I don't order much but the whole idea is to get something different from what I can make at home. However, for people on the road that need something healthy and can't get home cooking, this oatmeal is a grand idea!

I've never been crazy about oatmeal, but again, you've got me wanting to try it. But it can't come close to Mickey D's fries. Sometimes I stop only to buy fries...to heck with the hamburger...

Like you oatmeal was never a favorite. With the new year, it is good to find healthy things to eat for a change. A bonus they sell the oatmeal at all hours.

I have avoided oatmeal till now, inspite of knowing that it's good. After this discussion, I am giving second thoughts about it. If I can find a tasty recipe for the healthy oatmeal, that will be great.

Just start with the oatmeal, no recipe is needed. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Sorry, there is no delight in eating anything from McDonalds in my opinion. I think the place should be avoided at all costs! The only good thing about them being everywhere now is that when I need to go to the toilet while driving, there is always a fast food restaurant somewhere close by! I know someone else who does this and always has with their young child. The child even asked one day why there were people eating in the toilet as she associates McDonalds with the toilet!

Yes the oatmeal is the thing that made me crazy when i read it.If you see on the back of the board in mcdonalds how much calories you receive from the fast food, you have gotta be headbummer not to understand that it is bad for a person to consume so many calories. It's really a bummer, and besides this most of the people do not look the oatmeal and do not care about the consequences.
