I hate all the prices of things that we need going up all the time

What with the increase of vat on things as well as all the other bills like heating and electric amongst other things it is getting beyond a joke trying to keep up[ with all the things that we all require to survive. They never put up the wages that we get to match the increase of things in life.

You are so right on all counts. I remember back about thirty something years ago when we would get an increase in our wages for "cost of living raise increase." I do remember working back then and getting 3 raises in one year. It was great. Now adays you never hear of anyone getting this. Meanwhile everything is going up from food, electric, gas, water, stamps etc......! I don't understand how the government thinks this is ok and how long this can go on for everyone who is finding it difficult to survive.

Same here in the Philippines. Prices are getting higher everyday and it annoys me because I cannot buy the usual things I wanted to buy now. I have to save and buy only the necessary ones.

I do agree with you. It seems like this problem is occurring everywhere. We have been always complaining prices for everything go up, except for our salaries. Petrol price goes up, government tax goes up, and eventually everything we consume will goes up too. Just the beginning of the year, and we are started to consume more expensive things.

funny you say that because all the left wing nuts in the USA want to start a vat tax in the name of global warming. i say it's a bad thing. governments keep thinking this way and we're all going to end up like cuba where the rich get richer and the poor stay poor forever. i don't know about you, but i'd rather have the chance at success and freedom than a lifetime of subpar jobs and "guaranteed" work doing whatever the government wants me to do. That is right where the world is headed if we don't stop these damn globalists.

Well then, there's a few ways you can work on this to benefit you & others in the long & short term. No need to blame the government, the market situation or your employer; you just end up in a negative, downward spiral. 1. Ask for a pay rise. Don't make it just a "gimme more money" type of announcement, but research on all the big job sites for exactly how to go about this & make sure you state your case clearly. There's also people you can email on these websites if you get really stuck. Be prepared to demonstrate to your employer everything you have done above your normal tasks to make the company better & better over the years. Make detailed reports & proposals & submit them to the right people at the right time. 2. Earn more online (preferably outside of business / work hours). My Lot has a few good sections full of ways to earn more online. 3. Take back the power by taking matters into your own hands. Live to the ground. That does not mean "live in poverty", just live sustainably. Grow your own fruit & vegetables, go vegan, give up expensive, destructive old habits & save money. Generate your own electricity for free by building any of a huge number of free energy devices (for nearly no cost) that have been around since the 1800's - some before then. These have also been discussed on My Lot. Build your own heating devices that do not need electricity to run. This way, you are in control, you call the shots regarding commodity prices & if more people did this, we wouldn't have these sort of problems.

I feel the same way. We've cut out almost everything but the basics and we're not sure where to go from there. Sadly, I know more people in this situation than the reverse. I think somewhere it's all gotta give and I don't know what's going to happen when it does.

That the way it has been for years and years. I feel that a good paying job comes from education....college, etc. You have to put work into it.... It would be sooo nice if everyone lives comfortably....in in this world, sadly it isn't true.

I have to agree. Certainly the last ten years have been awful as far as prices go. I remember paying $1.03 a gallon for gas back in 1998. I was making more back then, than what I am now. The cost of living gets higher, and we just have to learn to be more frugal. It is also difficult to make a two income marriage work let alone one, but the more diligent we are the more successes we will have.

hello joy, for every increase in price there should always be a matching increase in salary. but it seems that government cannot just afford it. could this be due to the corruption in the previous government? now all are suffering from high prices and low salary. too sad. ann

You are right and our family is really struggling right now because of the fact that things are so expensive. Our water bill has been the thing that we've really been struggling with through this last few months. We knew that there was a rate increase that was coming. However, what we didn't realize was that the rate increase was equal to 3x what we were used to paying. Actually, what has happened is they haven't been checking our meter and still expect us to pay the assumed amount with the rate increase, which is in essence paying our bill a month ahead of time and we don't have the money to do that.

I'm too. Every times I go to the market to buy for our living, I realize that the price is increased a bit. I don't know why? I feel wast money however I only buy the most necessary things.

To be honest, I didn't expect the VAT increase to make much difference because the prices seem to be sneaking up on everything anyway! Considering how high our tax is (UK) compared to other countries, you'd have thought we'd be able to see where it's going and yet there are so many backwards moves where money gets wasted on nonsense that we wonder why we pay it at all. It does force us to be a bit more money and consumer savvy though, finding other ways to earn and save money too, which is a good thing in my opinion. At least there are one or two good points to come from us being crippled financially...

hi joystick I also am fed up with the cost of living and we oldsters on social security and ssi have not had a cost of living raise since 2008 and they keep saying it has not gone up well dumbies go buy groceries an see for yourselves, the cost has gone up you yoyo jerks.I would like to see the seventy and eighty year old men in congress have to live on our money, they would scream bloody murder and may be vote in some raises in social security and ssi too.I am here in California in the U S and our state and maybe New York state have the highest cost of living here, retn and house payments are sky high. no wonder a lot of people have actually had to move to a state that is not so expensive to live in.

I agree totally....They cut our raises from 4% to 2% every since the economy got bad. Now I get 25 cents for a raise which comes out to $2 more a day....what a joke when my bus pass went up $20 and my rent went up $10

It is almost criminal how the merchants are robbing the consumers in a critical time in our society when people are out of work or not make very much. The prices in all products, including gasoline for our vehicles are out of control and no one seems to be doing very much about this shameful burden. We, the consumers need to take back our control and stop supporting this behavior by not buying high priced products that we don't need. Something are necessary to have such as food, water, lights, and some clothings, but we are still buying whatever we want, no matter the cost, so the merchants just keep increasing the price because they know that we are addicted to spending and we will continue to buy.

I totally agree with you. Here the final prices are so big that people need to work on two places if it's possible, to pay all of their expenses. Today i understood one interesting fact and it's that we will have to pay tax if we win our national lottery. It was not like that 1 year ago, if you win the lottery here, it's free of taxes, but out last government we chose 2 years ago accepted tax for winning the lottery and it's 10% of all earned money. At the same time our salaries stay the same and we have no other chances than surviving. I just don't know how worst it can be, because now we live on the lowest line of surviving.

It seems like prices of things are always going up where we live yet the government seems to be living in an alternate universe. We got a letter stating that there is going to be no cost-of-living increase because the cost of living hasn't gone up. I guess nobody told my pocketbook that. The prices at stores around here have increased and gas here was up to $3.14 a gallon here today. The government plain and simply doesn't care about the people who depend on SSI and SSD to live. All they are looking for is ways to cut funding and have more money for them.

This is the main consideration of everyone now. What can we do with this price increase? If the price increase is in textiles or other things, we can bear it.but the daily food prices are peaking! what can be done to contain this? The govt has to work on this. the food prices r rising, but the salary of common man remains the same, thatz the problem! thatz the reason y work from home sites are gaining popularity in India.
