A good leader does not tell what to do, he shows how to do it. And a good leader is a good follower.

This is true too, one must be able to follow, before they able to lead.

A good leader leads for the benefit of the company, never putting themselves first, but leading with a pure heart. I think a good leader leads by example and doesn't have to bully anyone into doing something they don't want to do. If you see something you like an employee is doing, make sure you compliment them on it. All to often employers focus on the negative, which in my opion only breeds negativity, but if you are positive and praising the good things then you will get more work from your employee as well as their trust. A good leader leads by example and never asks the employees to do something that they are not willing to do themselves. It is not "down-playing" the leadership role, but getting the work out of the employee that needs to be done here. A great leader appreciates the work of the employee.

Yes, the complimenting part is a very good thing. Also leading by example. Good answer.

I think a good leader should have both confidence and humility. They have to know they're part of a group. An egotistical leader is not a good leader. But, they still need to believe that they are good at what they do. They have to be able to make tough decisions. They should be good listeners and be willing to take the advice of the people who work for them. But, they should be discerning enough to know when advice is good. A good leader should be strong but fair. They should be willing to both reprimand someone under them when they're wrong, but also go to the bat for them when the situation warrants it. A leader shouldn't accept insubordination from their followers, but they should know they aren't perfect, and so should be willing to accept respectful criticism from their followers. A leader should be able to bring out the best in others and motivate them to work together. And, a leader should never take advantage of their position.

First you need integrity, like a bank. You need to be honest, like Wall Street. You also have to figure out how not to get caught, like Madoff.

Oh ya, and you need some great connections, like with the government, to bail ya out!
