Guns in a child's bedroom

Not long ago, a tragedy happened in a neighboring county. A ten year old boy shot and killed his mom because he was mad at her for asking him to bring in firewood. As the details of the story unfolded it has many shaking their heads. There were ten guns with ammunition nearby that were being kept in the boy's bedroom. It was known that the boy has anger issues. I feel that this might never have happened if it wasn't for negligence. There is no way that a child that age or any child should be allowed around a gun by themselves. It is such a sad thing.

Hi Linda, So I am assuming the parents were charged for allowing the weapons to be in a place where the boy could get to them? That is beyond dumb!! Who would store any sort of weapon in a childs room. I could be wrong on this but I believe there are laws about this sort of thing even though there shouldn't have to be...it's just common sense. Sad sad story. That kid is going to be messed up for life. Can you even imagine the guilt he will feel once it hits him what he did in a fit of rage? He's just a baby still.

hi oh yes thats really negligence for sure. there should never be weapons of any kind where a child no matter what age or mental condition can reach them as thats asking for big trouble. At ten he still'has not got real discretion although by then he should know right from wrong.

Yes I agree Hatley a child of 10 should know right from wrong...but when you are confronted with a child that have anger management problems... then you have an absolutely different situation...the child would throw at you any thing in sight and feel no remorse at the time...this type of behavior can be seen today on almost any class room...and sadly enough in childcare as well! at the end of the day through negligence[ and not caring] we are creating young criminals out of our own kiddos!

You right, my friend. That is due to negligence in the part of the parents and irresponsible treatment of their kids.
