Many times I have been given help here and I know other people have received it too from their online friends. Thatñs what mylot is, that´s why it istarts with my A couple of days ago I was watering my plants (it´s Summer here), gave a tug with the hose to one of my tomato plants and two green tomatoes fell off. I made a post here. I had only eaten until now red ripe tomatoes. I received many answers with many ideas. I am going to place here the picture I took of the idea MsDianit gave me. I made my interpretation on what she told me today but took a picture of it before eating it. At the other post I´ll comment with a picture the several mylotters from the south of the US who suggested green fried tomatoes (awesome!). To the indian friends who talked about chutneys and relishes, they will have to wait until another tomato fall or until the Fall when tomatoes don´t have enough sun to rippen. I also have a wonderful recipe (that one with all the ingredients) that a friend from Bulgaria sent me PM. I feel as if we were at the United Nations! Do you have the same feeling when your world is widdened by the feedback you get from people all aroung the world? Here comes MsDianit´s pepperonata. I placed it over a steamed zuchinni from my garden with a small steak of pork.

This story is amazing! A few green tomatoes caused one of the most simple recipes to cross the oceans and get itself a place on a table on the other side of the globe! I shall think of you every time I prepare it from now on marguicha!

Thanks Di. And how about the dish I named after you? I bet many mylotters will think twice when buying tomatoes at the market. I used to just don´t look at the green ones. Not that I don´t like the red ones. Today I´ll have a tomato salad with those red sweet tomatoes that you pick when they are red.

@mysdianait That was when I know how to post pictures. I think I took the pictures with my digital camera. Now I use the cellpone, only I don´t know how to get the pictures out

That looks delicious, marguicha! I bet it was. I plan to grow, among other things, zucchini, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and garlic this coming season, weather permitting, so I should have everything I'll need to make this. (Last season was a total loss with the worst drought and highest temperatures on record... I lost everything. ) I think myLot is awesome, too, because we learn so much from each other which makes the world seem like not such a big place. It helps me to appreciate what I have and sad to think of how far we have yet to go. Hopefully, more and more bridges will be built and crossed. Aren't people awesome?

I see you are a pro! I´m just a beginer and this year some hateful snails ate all my bean plants. So next year I´ll have ready a snal house and a lantern and I´ll go at night to pick them . I have checked how to use them as food. I have eaten snails but never done it myself.

this is a story i seldom read anywhere. i like the way you shared the story. i guess a substantial number of mylotters have similar stories of being helped or virtually being there to pass off an important tip or trick. i am glad you took a picture to show to the world of your experience. nice one.

I´m glad you liked my story. Thanks a lot. I´m a writer in my own language but I always find lots of faults when I write or speak in a different language. I was very proud with my dish and I wanted to show it to Dysdianait (the mylotters who gave me the idea).

I only just discovered mylot - but I am so pleased I have :-) I never liked or used facebook much - it just didn't grab me. Mylot has its such a great idea. It takes computing to what it should be. I love connecting to people around the world. Even just reading the discussions gives you some many different views on things. The world is a diverse place sites like mylot helps me appreciate and understand different views, cultures and ideas. It also highlights that despite these differences we are all basically the same with the same likes, desires, interests etc. Yes I love mylot and hope to be an active user for many years to come - just a bit sorry I didn't find it sooner. I like your comment about the united nations - but in fact we are better than that - we actually listen to each other and give honest answers - THe world could be a better place if the UN took some lessons from many of the mylotters :-)

Welcome to mylot, Trav! I am sure you will have fun here. Don´t expect perfection though: remember that mylot is made of human beings. But you can find friends and learn a lot without much effort or intending to. When I began posting, many countries were just names for me. Then I started to find them in maps and later on I needed to learn more about my friends´ cultures. I love to travel but there are many places where I will never go because of my age or because it´s too expensive. But here one can fly and discover, as you say, that we are basically the same. I live in Chile, in the south of South America. And the friend who gave me the recipe in the picture is living in Italy. Don´t be sorry for the past: be happy that you found us Take care!

hi marguicha I am glad your fried green tomatoes turned out so great.that pepperonata even looks pretty and I bet it was really yummy too. I was just thinking I wonder if sliced thin eggplant wpuld go good in that recipe as eggplant and onions and green' peppers and tomato make a wonderful ratatouille that is utterly delicious.Yes thats a great way to put it United Nations, its so lovely to get to know my mylotter friends from all over the 'world and share all our various cultures too. wow.

I do a lot of things with eggplants. In fact I fry ripe sliced eggplants to go with rice and a small amount of meat. I have never put batter though. I could try that. I also make a sort of pickled diced eggplant and zuchinni. I do try zuchinni in exchange of every eggplant recipe and viceversa. Those are good and inexpensive veggies in my country and make a dish look bigger and more colorful.

I get a lot of enjoyment from just reading other peoples comments on this site. On subjects where i don't feel like posting a response, I'll just take a look at what everyone else has to say. Sometimes(not always, but there are times when this does happen,) They end up altering my point of view. I'm able to look at a subject with an open mind after deciphering other's thoughts and trying to see where they are coming from. I mean, i like reading views that are close to the way I feel, but differing views do help you understand a lot more.
