I think the gas prices are high and the executives at the main companies should lower gasoline prices-what do you think?

I live in Southern Indiana. Currently gas prices are set between 3.15 and 3.19. This is an increase of .16-.21 in the past week. I agree that the prices are too high. i know someone who used to do fuel purchases for BP. He left due to moral objections. OPEC and the major fuel companies are guilty of price fixing. They say it's so that the industry doesn't burst, but it's all wrong. What we are experiencing is pure greed. The executives are all taking 500,000 - 10,000,000 dollar salaries with massive bonuses. This is an inexcusable gross overcompensation. There is never a reason that someone desperately needs to be paid millions of dollars. Especially at the expense of loss and suffering for an entire global economy. This is a similar situation to what caused our president to ask for the resignation of GM CEO Rick Wagoner. Rick's poor judgement and greed lead to the market collapse and financial strains that GM experienced at the beginning of this whole mess. It's kept out of the media for the most part, but what happened was Rick fired massive amounts of people so that he could give himself and his co-CEOs much much more money. It didn't need to happen. This greed lust is reflected in the cost of our autos and the lack of jobs right now. It's not just GM either. Most industries including our privatized and even not for profit hospitals are the same. For example... i llve here in Bloomington where our hospital was just purchased by the local University. Prior to that it was not for profit. For a not for profit hospital, they sure know how to live a lavished lifestyle. Natural black marble block tiles at all main entrances, with brass and SS inlay. Huge marble columns in the main entrance, and huge 42" plasma TV's in every hallway showing the news, weather and hospital info. This was all 5 years ago. The TV's alone cost around 3,ooo. I've counted around 60 while exploring the halls. This is all what contributes to a .15 cent pack of sutures to stitch a wound costing the patient around $200. Sure they have to pay the Dr and Nurse for the 30 minutes they are working on you, but are they seriously costing that much? I think not. This is gross overcompensation and functioning outside of practical means. I'd rather have sterile white walls and cheap tile in my hospital and pay $50 for my 30 minutes. I'd rather the fuel company CEO's also take a reasonable wage like say $200,000 and I pay 2.00 for a gallon of petro. I'm not saying that their hard climb up the corporate ladder should go unrewarded. i just don't think they should be allowed to screw the world so they can become excessively rich. Capitalism doesn't have to be a bad thing. The people at the top just need to use a little moral objectivity. Sorry for the rant. I'm just sick of all of us getting ripped off.

I live in Mississippi. In my area, as of yesterday, the gas prices for unleaded were in the $2.80s. They actually have come down some recently. They were in the $2.90s just a few days ago. I was glad even just for that little price drop.

I live in Minnesota (specifically in Minneapolis) and it's currently $3.19 a gallon. I preferred it when it was below $3 a gallon - it seems to be creeping up slowly but surely. Too bad, because driving is the one thing I can't afford to skimp out on.

I live in Northern Michigan gas prices are $3.19 a gallon today. I honestly believe gas prices should not be anymore than $2.50 a gallon. Ten years ago..they were only $1.03, and a $2.00 jump is just more than a ridiculous amount! Yes, I believe the executives should do what they can to lower the gas prices.

I live in the central part of Illinois, a state in the US. Gas prices in my town are about $3.15 per gallon, which is really stiff because the surrounding area loses about 100-200 jobs every 60-90 days. I believe that they should definitely be lower... Most people living here are using 4/gal of gas per day just to drive to their jobs that only pay our state's minimum wage. So in essence... They are working 3 hours per day just to pay for the cost of driving to work and to pay taxes. If the gas prices continue to rise, it will have some very negative effects on those living in rural areas.
