Could you gauge what age bracket a person is, by not seeing her in person, but only the information of what type of music she likes? In my opinion, we cannot . My daughter likes classical songs specially soul songs. But she’s still so young . But as for me I like rap, R & B , soft metal rock music , the latest modern ones and those from the oldies also. So, would you say I am younger or older without looking at my profile picture?

I think it's possible in the general sense, but like most generalizing you're going to get a lot of people wrong. I would guess you're in your late 20s-30s... but not by your music taste... but because you said you had a daughter who liked classical music. That's probably cheating. And chances are I'm wrong too... right? I like classical music, contemporary Christian music, and some electronic dance. How old would you say I am?

lol, that's good! You should be proud. Nope. I'm younger, 19 going on 20 in about three months. Most people guess that I'm older than I really am though. I'm not sure whether I should be worried about that or not.

So you see, music doesn't tell the age bracket. I based my guess on your liking contemporary Christian music. It's nice to know that at that early age, you already like Christian songs. Am proud of you.

I don't think it tells someone's physical age, but instead I think it says something about the age of your soul. I think someone who appreciates classical music has been around this world a few times. Enough to see the beauty of classical tunes. They may be reincarnated young, but I think their souls are old and wise.

I agreed on you. Music is not the basis of how old or young you are. I like also rap and rock music while my sister likes classical and sentimental songs. It really depends on the likes of individual. Rock your world!!!!!

I guess, it's obvious that music doesn't tell one's age. Thank for your thoughts.

hello simplyD! I doubt if we would be able to tell a person's age just by his/her preference for a particular type of music. Nowadays, adults as old as 50 likes to listen to Justin Beiber's "Baby" song while some teenagers would rather like to listen to standard songs and music by Beegees, Beetles and Yani's orchestra music. Judging by your own choice of music, noone would guess you're already a mother as it is. Good for you to still be "in" with the young, with your choice of music. Me? i go for contemporary music and some instrumental ones too.

I would have to say no. Music really has evolved since it started. I would have to say I agree with you. The evolution of music I think will never stop. There will always be something new sooner or later just like the people of today. They are just so unpredictable these days. You would expect young people to like what is in right now but there are some you would want to hear classics. But maybe, just maybe, anyone likes whatever music they would hear as long as they can comprehend to what it is trying to say. In my case, I do not like some of what I hear before but as I listen to it now that I'm a bit matured, I now am a fan. Understanding the song I think is the first thing that a listener should do first. As you try to understand its message, you might like it or not but in some way it would make you think.

And may i add, that the music of before has better lyrics, so meaningful . Today's music has lyrics which are sometimes like just purely rantings! have a nice day!

That too. Before, song writers give so much thought to the materials they produce. Now, much of them just keep on repeating the same words over and over again without much meaning to it. I say they are a bit more particular about how the song would sound. The melody is given more attention. Some even just make up words that nobody really understands. Music videos has also played a major role to the changes in the industry. As long as the artists look good, they will be highly rated just basing on how they look.

No because i listen to some rap music and my uncles, ants, dad, mom, grandpa, grandma absolutely HATE rap music, But my GREAT grandpa and grandpa absolutely LOVE rap so it would be kinda hard to tell if a person listening to rap could be like 16 or like 91-109 in age.

wE REALLY CAN NOT TELL HOW OLD OR HOW YOUNG A PERSON IS JUST BY KNOWING THE KIND OF MUSIC HE/SHE LISTENS TO. We develop the love for a certain genre of music base on our exposure to it. I was a toddler when I learned to love Abba's songs. It was my Aunt's favorite band. Now, I still do listen to it but I prefer to listen jazz and R & B . Also some classical musics but this doesn't make me an oldie. I just love these genre because of what they make me feel whenever I'm listening to them. My daughter who is 3 loves Bruno Mars and Celine Dion and Santana. So, no. Music has nothing to do with age.:)

Correct! Sometimes though, the music we would like to hear depends on our mood, don't you think so?

Yes, music preference do not tell our age. We have individual choices when it comes to music.

I think we can do that some people. But like your daughter's age, I have some friends who love songs that were recorded before they were even born. I also listen to classical music and songs before I was born - i listen to anything. So you can't really predict a person's age by knowing what songs he or she likes..

It is only an aspect of the criterion to determine what age bracket a person is.We can only guess at the result without looking at one's profile picture.Just like you and your daughter,If we gauge the age bracket by the information of what type of music you likes. We'll make a mistake about it.It is really a thorn problem. So,I think we should judge what age bracket a person is not only by the information of one's musical proclivities, but also some other proclivities. What do you think,SIMPLYD?

Yes, you can never tell the age bracket of a person unless you see her in person. Specially , when she looks old and she likes old music then, you can gauge that she is old already, but we think of it that way though . . .silently to ourself!
