OK, that's $10 down the hole...

I should have listened to my gut. I've heard of work-at-home scams like this before, i.e. doing data entry from home, when all it's about is finding other unwitting people who're willing to part with their $10 to get a free "training guide" that shows how to practically scam even more folks. Have you ever fallen for such online schemes? How else do you make a living online?

Well there's certainly no easy way. It seems as though the only quick way to make money on the internet is by scamming other people! But you can make some money you just have to work hard in a lot of different places.

Thanks for the comment. I totally agree with you, and that's why I fell for it in the first place - for wanting to try it out. However, I've been trying to earn online for years, so I should have been more guarded. Unfortunately, this was a nameless venture, all I had was an email address to respond to, so I can't really report it to the BBB (assuming they monitor such schemes). I'm also not sure there is an organization out there that regulates Web businesses. Oh well, lesson learned.

Thanks, rpm-, for the comment and tips. If you have any specific ideas in mind, drop me a line, and will look into them. I have lots of leads on stuff that work well in the US, not so much here in Canada.

hi corner don't feel too bad as I got suckered too and also lost my ten dollars the same thing, trying to trick ten dollars out of other poor suckers.I only do mylot and my survey, com and usually make thirty five to forty dollars monthly doing that. That is the height of my online ambition as I do not want to waste more money on schemes.

Hey Hatley - thanks for the sympathy, and the comment. $10 bucks isn't so much, still it's like theft, and such a letdown. I can't spend much time online, so reaching $35-40/monthly on myLot and surveys as such isn't feasible for me. Will definitely be even more guarded when joining online programs.

Sorry to hear that. Mind sharing the name of this site? I've requested to be friends, so you can PM me if you accept it. The reason I ask is, I'd like to know if it's one of those sites I see around the Web. But their charge is definitely more than $2. Did it have a terms of use section, and did you check it before joining? Thanks for your input.

Well I never fall for any of those because I know that they are a waste of time and no good, but their is a decent way to make money online I just don't really know how, but making money online doesn't mean to scam people out of their money. I would never be able to live with myself if I made money by scamming other people because it's just not who I am when I make money online I make it the decent way. Like mylot this is actually what I do to get my money, but at least I am doing it fairly so I love mylot because of this. People should never scam other people because it's not right that should be illegal to scam other people and I think the world would be a much better place if nobody scammed one another and it would be so nice, but we all know that day will never come. It would be nice if it was like that. Anyway don't ever fall for those online scams and always listen to your own gut because most of the time it's right. We always make the wrong choices when we don't choose to go with our gut and we always regret it. Anyway good luck trying to make money online it's not easy, but in due time you will be able to accomplish it.

I don't usually fall for scams, but I chose to try this one out. Good thing it was only for $10. Like I said on an earlier post, I could make that back, and possibly earn even more, if I followed the instructions on the training guide, and do the same thing. But, like you, it won't be on good conscience if I do, so I won't. Perhaps other people do it, either because they don't realize it's a scam, or are too desperate for money. Thanks for the encouragement. I do hope my efforts will pan out, and hopefully soon.

Hi Icorner, Posts like this makes my resolve to treat online money-making schemes more carefully, especially when it comes to paying things you want to work for. The logic or should I say, ill-logic, is there: why, in the first place, would somebody want to collect money when he wanted to pay someone to have something done for him? It only mirrors some employment agencies nowadays that collects huge sums of money for promises of employment at a certain company. Now, that's a lot of ------ht! For me, I still have to collect my first earning online, say, for three years now. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing your experiences. It adds to our information re this scam sites. You should have posted the link here so we may know it.

You're absolutely right, that was illogical. I went against my better judgment & gut in the hope that I could earn more from home. I hoped/thought it would lead me to a site that will provide the work, or at least give me information on where to get this type of work. Others charge way more for membership to a data entry network; maybe these ones are legit, as these show screenshots of payments or the type of data entry you'll be doing. I don't have a link, just an email address. I've seen similar ones around, so now I know these operate the same scam. You'll recognize these by the lack of a company name, and are usually posted as free listings.

I personally haven't fallen for a scam scheme but I do know quite a few people who have it's easy to see why at times with them offering such a sound return of money and when the site looks professional people are easily swayed in the hope of making a good return of money instead losing their investment.

I definitely have never fell for any of those. Most of the research i've done always tell people to not invest even a penny! Most likely the people who do that think that making money online will all of a sudden become easy when in fact it doesnt. It's a trial and error system. you have to find what works best for you!

I've been scammed by data entry online. I think that is a fairly common scam. I found it through clixsense. It was called From Home Data Entry and I paid something like 75 dollars to get a number of assignments. They never paid me for the work I did and didn't respond to my email inquiries either. Also 106 dollars disappeared from my techdoctordeals account and they never responded to my complaints either. I mostly make money through survey companies although I've made some from InboxDollars too which is survey, email, and offers.

Oh my! That's one of the worst I've heard. There must be some way to stop these guys from scamming others. I'm glad to hear you did earn some from survey companies. Same with me. If you're interested in finding other similar ways to earn, let me know and I'll direct you to them. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and for the sympathy. I feel bad that you were not only SCAMMED, but SPAMMED at the same time. You shouldn't believe emails like those, not just because these are spam, but because you knew you hadn't entered a lottery yourself. Also, always check the email address header to see if it's official. I doubt Yahoo's customer support email address was the same. You can send a copy to them too for verification. I've done this before with another company, and was assured the email didn't come from them. The email scam isn't limited to fake "lotteries" alone; others pretend they come from your bank, and ask for your account no. and password. Naturally, you should just delete these after making & sending a copy to your bank.

Oh jeez that's bad. I try to research things on the internet before I hand any money over to anyone! Generally if they want money upfront there's a good chance that it's a scam. Thankfully, I've never been ripped off!
