Car and global warming.

Have you any car of your own? Do you use it regularly? Do you know that it is adding fuel to the fire by increasing the already existing pollution which consequently leads to increased global warming?

I do own a five door small car and it runs on unleaded petrol. I use it for local trips to my disabled son's playgroup and nursery, supermarkets for my family's shopping and my son's medical appointments. My son is unable to walk so he is a wheelchair user. Before I passed my practical driving test I struggled on trains and buses. This was extremely challenging and my life is so very much easier now that I can drive. For years I rode my bike to work every day and not driven a car. I care about the environment. I saw an advert for car that doesn't pollute and it was up for £24,000 so it wasn't affordable for me. It is a shame about global warming. I care about the world, people and animals. I have a vegan diet, do recycling and use a rubbish bin. The thing that do that is worse for the environment is fly on a plane because I am very keen on traveling to different countries and many of these are far away.

While global "warming" itself still questionable. I mean north part of the world get colder winter now. But I using fuel is unavoidable. We just need to choose the one that use the least. Hell, even electric car use fuel. What do you think supply the electric? Our power company still use diesel engine mostly.

That's why Climate Change is the more appropriate word, I think. I wish solar car would be made more popular. Even if the car is bulky that would be preferable. Of solar car is available, but I think it should be made in such a way that even on rainy day it could run. Instead of doing more research of producing bigger bombs scientist should research on solar car. Alas! the more educated ones use their brain on how to kill more people effectively!

I own a car. But I don't use regularly. Since I have a small son whenever we have to go out as family I take the car. But I take public transport often. I also go to office on a bicycle. I know it's not the way in our class conscious Indian society. But I thought why I should go by what people think about me. After all going on a bicycle makes me healthy too.

People tend to be lazy and therefore drive everywhere. A big shock I know. There are people who drive like a block, which rather mortifies me to say the very least. Imagine hundreds upon hundreds of people driving distances that they could easily walk. That has to deal with a good chunk of the problems that come with global warming. Not all of it, but a good enough chunk of it to say the very least. So I drive my car only when needed. When the weather permits or when it is not that far of a distance, I tend to walk. I think that there are times where I have walked a lot where most people would never do. There are really two benefits. You help the environment, which is the most obvious when you think about it. You also are going to get some exercise, something that many of us need, so walking is an easy way to get it.

I am just seeing the car only. I have a dream to travel in my own costly car(approxiamately 10crores). But it must be a environment friendly car.... Because we have to save the world, and to give a pure nature to the next generation....

I don't have a car. But If I have enough money, I'll buy ones. I like to use it when I must go far from my house. But If I travel in the city, I like motorbike or bicycle.

The global warming is happening that is for sure. I have no other option than to utilize the car I have. I keep it maintained so it isn't that bad. I see cars nearly every day that have bad fumes and wonder what their deal is why they haven't had to have their immissions tested. There are many of them out there.

We do own a very large bus and a van and because of choices my husband whas made which I don't agree with, we have been very bad contributors to the global warming/ air pollution problem. I try to get him to see it, but he is very hard to see or understand anything. Thankfully, right now they are both broken down so we are using public transportation but my hope is to get something small and very thrify on gas which I would only use for nescessary trips when public transportation would not be practical.

I use my car everyday to go back and forth to work, To my boyfriends house and even do the store if i have to go. We dont have sidewalks here only through neighborhoods and some on some big streets but not on the HWY os US1 to were i can use my bike. I work in a different county and city to were i live. My boyfriend lives 20 iuntes away from me when im driving so it would probably take along time to bike or walk to his house and then the store isnt very far but would be hassle tryig to bring things back to my house. Of course the electric cars are becoming a big thing now a days and hte hybrid cars are the thing to get but my gosh they are expensive. SO of course we still drive what we can afford.

Yes, i know that vehicles can lead to global warming and pollution. but i think most of us will agree with me that vehicle is something that we need nowadays. Its impossible to stop using car, or bus and etc. But there are something that we can do to reduce the pollution and global warming. For example, i notice some of the people like to let the engine on when they are waiting for somebody. I think this is not healthy to do that. So, i will off my engine when i am waiting for someone. If everyone is doing that, i believe it will help in reducing the pollution.

We do own a car, and we drive it when necessary to go anywhere. I have my own feelings about global warming, mainly that it is mostly a theorical finding at this time. Looking at history, warming and freezing periods come every few thousand years, and I believe that is what's happening now. After all, we used to have dinosaurs until the ice age moved in. It has happened before, and it will happen again. History repeats itself.

I used to own a car many years back when globa warming was not a issue. Now I do not have one. I spend my time travelling comuter buses. However, I see that car carbon emissions are the most single contributor to the depleting of o zone layer. The second would be factories and other industry emissions. In my country, we have nearly 90% of our forest intact, it is claimed to have second forest density behind amazon. What the country is doing now is to trade carbon for cash. Define certain forest areas and trade for money where forest will remain. In other words, you earn by leaving the forest alone. It is very lazy way of earning money but it is going to become a reality as global warming is theatening us all regardless of where we are in the world.

It's so good that my husband had sold our old car! Now we are not longer a contributor to this global warming and pollution. My husband is still planning to have a big bike for him to use for his commuting , I guess with this he'll be a lesser guilty.

Yes. I'm worried a bit more about petrol and where it comes from and how it was obtained. Just to throw in a few words: Iraq, Deepwater Horizon, destruction of the environment, corruption, injustice ... maybe global warming is just the answer to that

I think most of us car owners are aware of that. But for a lot of us, cars are a necessity. We need them to earn a living and feed our family. There are a lot of responsible car owners who consciously find ways to minimize their vehicles' contribution to the already polluted air. They ride mass transportation once in a while. They do car pooling. They keep their car's engine in tip-top condition to lessen CO2 emissions. Personally, I blame the car manufacturers. They have the technology to create eco-friendly cars. Although they have started making cars that run on electricity, production is few, and they continuously produce CO2 emitting vehicles. Car owners have little alternatives at the moment.

We seldom use our car, most of the time we just use it to take the children to and back from school. I avoid using it if I can, we also use it if we go on an excursion with my family and sometimes for representation, cause in my country people most of the time do not want to deal if you have no car, cause they will say " you can't afford to buy a car then how do you expect to pay us" hahaha but that's just the way it is here. Well I hope they find a cheap alternative to gas powered vehicles soon, this is one aspect that gives me a little guilt on environmental issues since my company is engaged in recycling, BTW I also have a truck

I dont have a car of my own because im too young, but i will be getting one soon... Im pretty sure that most people realise the environmental effects that cars have, but honestly... its convenient so most people really arent that bothered! Its harsh, but its true. They're aware but i doubt that anyone will make much of an effort to change their habits just for that.
