So I'm a cashier and I am tired of all the rude and stupid people I have to put up with everyday. Today I got one, who supposedly lost her receipt to something she bought in November. Typical.. But she wasn't trying to return something without a receipt, she just wanted the receipt and demanded I reprint it for her which is completely impossible unless she JUST bought it, and she didn't. She bought it in Novemver she said. Do people not realize.. If you could just walk into a store and demand that they print you a receipt.. Then you could just go grab the item off the shelf and return it for money, when you DID NOT EVEN BUY IT. Geez!

Ahh the life of retail! I hated it and vowed I would never go back.. so far I have been that lucky! Some people expect miracles while others are trying to distract you so that their peeps can rob the store blind! Sorry you had a bad day!

Yes, when the thieves take their children with them it is pathetic... I guess they are teaching them the trade! I find it disgusting! I know someone (distant member of the family by marriage) that recently got put in jail for robbing the local Walmart. This woman had been stealing from them for months now. She would literally walk out of the store with her cart slam full of stuff... well she did this last month and got caught. Apparently the side door that she would always go out of recently had camera's installed. She was hauled off to jail right then and there... I do not know how it is going to turn out for her. It really is a sad situation and I hope that it is not going to have a bad effect on her kids when the final verdict is brought down.

Haha, the thieves, now they definitely make retail interesting I must say! Before I was a cashier I would have never thought. I've seen mother's stealing with their children. Last week we had someone take something then when they caught him he asked to go to the bathroom. When he came out he took a swing at our security guard and ran. Wasn't long before 5 employees tackled him down and knocked down an entire shelve.

Dealing with the public is quite difficult at times as the ole modo of customer is always right really wants to be enforced. I can bet so many getting on your last nerve. Sometimes they want to make it seem like you as the cashier owns the place and want to hold you responsible for their actions. How can someone expect any store to print up a receipt from last November that is odd that any customer would think that.

Yes they do act as if the cashiers own the store. I had a customer threaten me saying she was going to go to our city's newspaper if I wouldn't let her return an item without a receipt. As I don't own the store I really don't mind if the newspaper gives it a bad rep, meh.

Oh man, the wonderful life of being a cashier! Brings back memories. There is so much that I learned from being a cashier that I used to take for granted just being a shopper.

It's a common job when you're starting out. But very true you learn a lot and look at things a different way as a shopper. Though that comes along with some good memories, some bad..

Dealing with customers is hard, a lot of times. Especially the ones who are really "different" and those who are "difficult". But, as they say, it's always the customer with the upper hand. So, you have to deal with them carefully. And if you can't, then ask help from your supervisor.

Hi, I've never been a cashier but I've worked with customers for a short period in my life. I'll never forget this time. I still remember this man wearing glasses with thin golden rims who made me nuts. Maybe if you go through a lot of similar experience you could become a misanthrope.
