I could care less about the Oscars

I won't be watching I just have no interest. I don't even watch movies any more so I just don't even care about it. It seems like they've been talking about it for months. Are you going to watch? Who do you want to win?

I don't think I will be. Even if I do, it will be just for 5 minutes to see how they have decorated the place, not because I am interested in who will be getting the awards. I have not watched the movies, and I am not familiar at all with the stars.

I guess I'm getting old because on the rare occasion I watch movies it's old ones online. Movies in theaters are just too expensive.

That is one of the biggest waste of time and money ever created! And have you noticed...no matter the state of the country, high prices going even higher, bankrupt cities, states, foreclosures, people drowning in debt and all the other money related hardships....the Oscars, Emmys and all the rest, go on without a hitch! They wear their ugly and outrageously priced garments, and the cost just to do it is astronomical... but no matter... they still do it. I'm not for sitting and wollowing in depression and worries etc, but still....why not just slap us in the face while they all say "we got it and you don't, nanner, nanner, nanner!" Besides Celebs these days are about nothing but themselves. THey can't keep a marriage going, they can't keep a family going, they can't go do anything by themselves and they are still paid grossly adnormal, high salaries for doing next to nothing. I am sorry, but there isn't a single person on the face of this earth that deserves millions of dollars for what they do on a half hour sitcom. OR even a 1,1/2 movie...no one is that great that they deserve to get paid that much.

I'm not hating. They have plenty of money to do it good for them. I don't pay $15 to see a movie I'd rather watch them for free online or get free codes from Redbox. My money isn't going to pay their over inflated salaries. I can't afford to go to the movies.

I like Nicholas Cage I didn't even know he has a new movie out that's how much I pay attention to them. I do think the quality of these big Hollywood movies have gone down it's like we just want to crank out crap and shove it down people's throats to make as much as we can no matter if it's crap they'll eat it up. I really like watching foreign movies they are really refreshing and you get to see a different perspective.

I haven't been to a movie in years. I'd much rather rent it and watch in the comfort of my own home with. And have the opportunity to watch it multiple times if I want to instead of just the one time! But I did notice this week as it was on the news that Nickolas Cage violent show..."something Anger" or something like that only earned $5 mil this weekend, while a cartoon style movie (forget the name) made like $45 mil...something huge like that. I have to wonder if FINALLY people are starting to stop liking all the violance in movies and are more enjoying the fun kind of movie. Might be the signal that actors better watch their dollars a little bit now!

I've gotten plenty of responses to my discussions from myLotters who just HAD to tell me how boring, irrelevant or stupid my topic was but I think you may be the first poster I've seen start a discussion on something on which they "just have no interest"...lol! Don't get you wrong, I'm not being sarcastic or snarky, I'm just having a little fun with you...hope you don't mind! It's now the next day and yes, I watched it. I love movies and I love going to the movies, but I don't go much these days since it's so expensive plus for it's at least $10 worth of gas on top of the cost of admission. I might add that it's humanly impossible to sit in a theater with the scent of freshly popped buttered popcorn and not have some, so I might as well add the outrageous price for popcorn to the cost of admission. Of course, it's hard to eat popcorn without a drink, so add some overpriced soda and now you're talking about $40 altogether! Therefore I watch most of my movies on TV, either on one of the premium cable channels or renting them, which is also kind of rare for me. I haven't seen a single one of the highly-awarded movies so I'm not really sure if I agree about the winners or not! I know I LIKE Natalie Portman, Colin Firth and Melissa Leo so I'm pleased that they won but I can't compare their performances to any of the other nominees', many of whom I also like a lot! Basically, there wasn't really much that could have made me upset or angry, unlike some years. Annie

Yes movies are too expensive and have been for years. Thank goodness for RedBox. I used to only go to dollar movies then they raised the price to $1.25 then they finally closed a few years ago Now I only rent through Redbox.

I'm a film student so it's practically required that I watch... but honestly I don't care very much. I don't pay attention to the types of films they typically love (except for that one year where Return of the King swept 11 Oscars. lol). I like family-friendly, childrens, or fantasy movies and I don't see a whole lot of that going on at the Oscars. I will be watching tonight, but I don't know how thrilled I'll be about the ones that win.

Yes it seems like only certain types of movies ever get any kind of recognition.

Yeah it's not like it's a real surprise. The same people they said would win won anyway.

I love watching movies, but I haven't been watching the Oscars for a long time. I think the last that I watched the Oscars was when Titanic won.

Personally these award shows are something I have no real interest with as well. I think a lot of times they are a waste of time and money, but I guess this helps keep more people informed on what is out there to watch, and talk about later as well. I just wonder how they can continue to afford to do shows and such like this with so many real people out here continuing to loose jobs, homes and stuggling as well.

Hollywood is a fantasy world anyway so they just want to keep perpetuating the fantasy of their lives.
