Title of a discussion....

Hi everyone…. Hope all of you are fine. Just curious to know about it. Do you think a lot before placing the title of a discussion? I mean, do you think which will be the proper title of your discussion? Or you just put it whatever comes to your mind at that time? Sometimes, a title of a discussion make you obliged to read the entire writings… because lots of suspense are there in the title and you can’t guess what are in inside? So, you have to read and after reading the title… it’s not the matter whether you responding there or just leaving… but you were curious to know the whole after reading the title… There are some titles where you can easily guess the topic and you can skip it or open it without any suspense. It’s too easy to make mylotters understood promptly about your thought. So, what about you? Do you wish to keep mylotters on suspense by the title and make them forced to read or just put it without thinking? Please share. Thanks in advance.

Hi mamu Nothing specific. I have no theory about crafting headlines... whatever comes to my mind I use it. In fact I believe I have even put a headline that had no relation with the discussion... I focus on what the discussion is about and not much about the headline... A bad thing to do but I dont care... I have some great friends who would read whatever title I use and I am blessed to have such great friends

The title of the discussion started by me is coming from my heart and mind. I will never take too much time to put a title. It is automatically fetched from my soul.

With so many discussions being produced in mylot daily, it is almost impossible to attend to each and everyone of them. The only thing that would catch my attention to read a discussion is a catchy title. Likewise, I would create a juicy title to draw's others attention to read what I have written. Good titles cannot be ignored as it is something that could magnetize people to have a peep to the contents of the thread. Whether they want to respond or not is another story. As long as there are people reading then part of the problem is solved. Many complained that they received lukewarm response to their discussions, I think people have written well but did not put extra efforts to create interesting titles.

Hi Zandi... You are right. A attractive title pays our attention where as there are hundreds of discussion everyday. A spicy as HWG and a juicy title like you are enough to magnetize reader to the subject. But sometimes... i have found some titles which are really attractive but totally irrelevant with the theme. Its a technique to pay attention... but boring... And as you have mentioned, there are some good topics but neglected for its clumsy title. Have a nice day.

hio shibham I try to pique the reader's interest and intice him or her to read mydiscussion to see what I am going on about. Like one in which I had the title something like this, "Oh my G Nelda did you see? Yes Oh My is he alive"? then I go on to explain what happened and I did get quite a few answers. this was making a right turn just as a young man was walking his bike across the street. we had to stop as the light turned. She hit the young man so hard he was up in the air, then he came down and limped to the sidewalk and collapsed. I have to say I am afraid he was badly hurt. She was driving one of the biggest SUVs I had ever seen and she hit him as she did not have her lights on and it was dusk and growing darker. I and Nelda were both shaken by seeing this and hoping the young man would not die.

Hi Hatley... Your title is enough to focus the matter. I have no problem there in catching matter just reading the title. But some mylotters tend to post just reading the title.. they dont go with the body. Have a nice day

It depends on how clever and creative I am and if I can think of anything good quickly. I don't like to spend a lot of time thinking about it, because to me, the discussion is the important part, but you are right. Sometimes a good title can make you just have to read the discussion just to see what it's about!

Actually title is one of the general rule for the starter how to attract the reader, get the curiosity of the reader, so from the title itself the ready can create his/her response. see you around

Hi shibham, i think a lot while keeping a title, some times i keep it a surprise , sometimes i reveal out , you know what when i keep it a surprise i got least number of responses , but when i revealed the story in the title mylotters gave quick responses, then i understood here people are there for money so who will have time to read the entire discussion and respond, they give the response just reading one line title, but some important discussions of mine have just not came to limelight, just because of suspense in the title , which made me feel bad at times.

Hi sunny... I am agree with you that most mylotters follow the title and post their comments just reading the title. Here you need to reveal the matter on title... but suspenses also work fine... When you keep some suspenses, then those mylotters who are not here for money rather they wish to entertain themselves by reading and writing... become obliged to read the body. Have a nice day. Me too love suspense.

Hello Shibham, I am thinking much before giving a title to the discussion. I believe that a title can contribute much for the discussion. However, my topic will be related to the discussion only (most of the time). This is my belief and it may be different by others and I think they (other members) are the best people to give an opinion about my topics. I don’t want to confuse the mylotters by reading the topic.

You made me confused again for twice. First I don't get what you are trying to say. Second I thought that I responded to your discussion wrongly (lo) because you have dropped comments every column. But I made sure that by checking the topic, matter and seen Shibham is there so I am not in a wrong position.

I meant - Many a times I try to confuse as many a times my headings dont have anything to do with my posts ... And for this second confusion... Shibham (mamu) is absent right now... so I thought to play around on his discussion

Most of the time when starting a discussion, I just put whatever comes to mind. I might change it after I have started writing because it doesn't really fit the content. It really all depends on what I have to say. If there is a question I want answered, I will put that in the title, but if there is something going on in my life, I will put that in the title. Have a great weekend!!!

Hi daeckardt... It means sometimes you have to erase the first title and have to put a next one... which is more relevant to your topic, right? I never change the title... sometimes i take time for it and sometimes just put it. Its true that according to subject the title is placed. Have a nice day.

Hi shibham, This is undoubtedly important that you put an attractive title to your post if you want to have more traffic on your discussion. Many times, if the discussion is not from within the friends' list we go by the title and among them which over seems relatively attractive we tend to put our response. Besides title I do not like a very very looooooooooong discussion post. It should be precise and to the point. Sometime just so so title of a discussion loses responses, so I go with you and agree that one should be careful enough to put a suitable title.

This is not something that I give a whole lot of though to. I just try and describe roughly the topic that I am talking about and make it as interesting as possible I guess. It is not something that I ponder too long over. Just whatever pops into my head!

Hiya shibs, Not always I don´t write the Title down right away although I have the idea in my Head at that moment. I tend to sort of go back and fill in the Gaps kind of thing (things that I have missed out and were important. If I do miss anything out I try to put it into the responses that come up. Actually in another place where I sometimes write I have no problems for finding titles of the paragraphs and then putting subtitles after I don´t know why that is it comes to me much more easily to write on those pages and to find the Titles for them too. I write on Squidoo when I can that is more my style of writing in that sense.

Yes surely title matters.. It always attracts the users to read it and reading can make them respond. I have seen lots of users (including you) making such titles. which is surely a good idea to have more readers. Personally I don't make more innovative titles but i always try to think about them.

most of the time, the idea is in my mind and i get to type it first on notepad. when i thought i laid all idea, i check back what i have written and find the best title from it. sometimes, i give title to the topic which will give the readers a confusing thought to be interested and so at least, they will read the entire discussion before giving out their comments.

Hi neildc... I seldom do the same... writing on a separate place then copy paste.... Usually i directly write here and post but take some time thinking the title. Confusing title is quiet interesting sometimes. I feel it. Have a nice day.

it is very important to place a good titile for the discussion we make as it is the main source where a person gets attracted to the discussion and makes an attempt to reply it. so we need to mention it carefully, so that most of the people would an attempt and comment on it, this also helps us to reply back to the comment what we get for our discussion and it helps inturn to increase our earnings. yes there are a few discussions where we just cant understand from the title given to it and indeed we need to go through the whole discussion written and this becomes boring when we are in a hurry and dont have time to go through the whole discussion.but even we have discussions where we can understand from the title itself or from the short discussions and there i feel its time saving and helps us write more and more.

Hi there... Very true. There are some mylotters who are always in a hurry and jump to the respond from the title. For them, the title means a lot ... and need to figure out the entire body through the title... but some mylotters are really good readers and they tend to read the whole and for them you may keep some suspense by thew title. Have a nice day.

Hi Shibham, I have not started a discussion since a long time but when i used to post discussions i would always think of what title should i give it because like most here i too wanted that more and more people put their thoughts on my discussions , so not only i get to know the thoughts of more and more people here but also get more popular here. So title is very important.

I don't start all that many discussions, as I do have a hard time thinking of a good title to make the discussion interesting enough that users will want to respond. It does take me awhile to think up one, but then there have been other times, that something would just pop up in my head, so then I would post the discussion immediately before I would lose my train of thought. I am not all that good at coming up with good discussion titles, but at least all the discussions I have started, have got responses, which is far better than none at all. I prefer just to post responses as that is much easier that is for sure. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I am not so rush in placing the title. Have a grreat day and happy mylotting too.
