Have you dreamed to live another life ?

I always wanted to be a normal middle-class man and I have lamentably failed in that regard. I have done my best to be Mr Nobody : I dislike sports and I took season tickets for my local soccer team ; I enjoy Brahms and I saw the Who in concert ; I wanted to marry a hairdresser or a dressmaker and I lived 15 years with a curator ; my closest friends have at least a PhD, some two or three, not counting the "honoris causa", and they put my name and pictures in bibliographic dictionaries. My life is a definitive failure. At least I can still do something for my internet life. Yesterday, I canceled my Facebook -- I was inactive since 2 years --, and created a fake Facebook account : I am now born in a suburbs, have left studies after high school and I am a train driver. I made 40 friends requests among the pupils of my "new" high school, and 15 have been agreed in less than 24 hours. Just to make a test, I went to Microworkers and submitted 3 small Facebook tasks : 1 is already agreed. You know what : I am happy. Have you dreamed to live another life ? I read that 40% of accounts created at Facebook are fake. I did not realized that so many people were fake on internet. Have you created a fake Facebook profile ? Do you want to create one ? A word about your dream life, please.

Mine is not fake. I just want to be independently wealthy so that I can (within legal limits) do whatever the heck I want to!

Not a bad program. I think that many will sign : maybe can you start it as a pyramid scheme ? Aaaahh ! Too bad ! You would be out of legal limits !

I have never faked my virtual world existence. Even in my fb am using my real pictures. I am only a dust in the desert and that won't appeal to anybody who might have undesirable motives in the cyberworld.

All of us are only electrons in the cyberworld, included the most powerful in this planet. And whatever we are we will be only dust in a near future. Is this a sufficient reason to give my personal information to a complete stranger dust, owner of Facebook ? not for me. But I can give a fake profile with no regret. Human nature is weird.

Yes, I guess all of us had at a time dreamed to live another kind of life. But all in all, I am just glad that this is my life. I don't say that this is a middle class, upper class or lower class, just the way I would want to live. Sometimes I wish I could be better in this life, but If not then I cannot.

Hello Jennyze, I am bored with the life I have today. I am not living the way I wanted to live : it is exactly the contrary than you, and you are a happy woman. I believe that many human beings are like this : we want to experience something else. I had fun creating this fake Facebook, though I am not sure it will be more active than the previous, that I was not using since two years. @chenyang: I believe that those with great success envy those with less stress . We envy what we have not. Both of you in this box have probably a good approach : living in the present and being satisfied with what we have are probably two keys for happiness.

@Chenyang, yes, we should not envy others for whatever they have. As what seems perfect does not always so in reality. Whether we are successful or living hard to get food on the table, we all have our own strength and weakness, our own satisfaction and longing. It goes to you too Topffer. If you are so successful in life than you should be grateful and tried to have fun with all of your success as long as it is not on others' expense. You could one day walk on a street and look at a little girl selling flower and buy all her flowers - that makes her happy and hopefully will make you content and happy too.

I rarely envy others because I think the one with great success must have the high level of stress,I just want to be happy,to live in the present. As one saying goes,if you have something to do,someone to love you,and some dreams to look forward to,you must be happy.

I am still dreaming dear! Unfortunately I wake everyday and while brushing my teeth I am forced to see in the mirror, that it is still me. I have LIVED a life that absolutely no one should ever have to live, not even my worst enemy. So after my first cup of coffee along with my morning prayer I am simply am ready to take on what the day brings me. Sure sometimes I wish/want/dream about what it would be like to return back, oh 2 years would be just about right but then the night falls and this cycle of going to bed and waking up again remind me that it was all just a dream. As for facebook, I have two accounts one which I hardly frequent has 365 direct friends and family set to private mode; gee it is so private I rarely view it anymore. The second one I specifically have for marketing my articles, payment proofs and online sites. That one has about 3 myLot members who sought me but we have never even interacted on their so I have no idea why they were compelled to friend me, I suppose mystery for some people is intriguing but I am incognito there except of course for the legitimacy of my online earnings. Hmm so what was the question again darling?

Hey GF of course, on the lighter side - "I wake everyday and while brushing my teeth I am forced to see in the mirror, that it is still me" - if that is a problem I tried solving it twice and was successful in the second attempt - Attempt One - I did not brush ...in front of the mirror and when that didn't work, I removed the only two mirrors from the house(attempt 2)... now there is one only for my wife when she uses the dressing table...

It is you, in the mirror, but it can also be another you. Sorry to read that you had a bad life. I never said that my life was or is bad : I had some bad moments, but nothing like you. We are rarely completely satisfied of what we are doing : some people are envying my life, and sometimes I envy their life too... I never remember my dreams, so I dream when I am not sleeping. I deleted my old FB yesterday -- it was not active since 2 years -- and I had some fun creating a fake profile. I wanted one for online activities, and at least I had a good laugh. I was surprised also to be accepted in 24 hours by 15 "friends" from a school that I never saw. Now it will be easier to get some more : friends of my friends can be my friends more easily, and tasks are better paid if you have many. Will you create a fake profile, dear ?

hmm the marketing one I have is kind of fake because it is not my picture there that I have up that so many admire. lol, although I never said to anyone it was. lol Would not want to shocked them with my REAL beauty. In fact my user name on their is not my name it is a cut off blend of my user name here. Amazing on how I get requests for friendship on it though.

Your life is not a failure. Your life is what you made out of it. It seems that you made a wrong step somewhere when you were young. Back in highschool and at the University all my teachers foresaw a bright future for me. But I knew when to stop. I was (and I still am) too individualistic to devote my life to sience. I wanted a simple life and this is what I have. When everybody pushed me to apply for a Ph.D. in engineering I said no. I run away when a research institute was looking for me. I hid in a small provincial town. Even so I feel like I don't have enough time for myself, can you imagine how busy my life had been if I would have followed others advice? I know I disappointed many of the people who cared about me, but I also know I choose the best path for me. As for the Facebook profile, I created one with my real name last year but I have never used it. I still receive notifications in my e-mail, telling me that x or y wants to be my friend on Facebook but I don't even remember my password. To create a fake profile I would need a lot of spare time, which I don't have. You should be so very bored that you had time to become a train driver over night! Why a train driver?

Hello Inu, I have not made only one wrong step, but many. My main problem is that is difficult for me to say "No". If somebody insists, I cannot say "No", and I envy you. I am living today in a small town, but it is too late to hid myself : my phone was stolen 3 weeks ago, and some people have already managed to get my main email address. I am really bored. I am also individualistic -- you will earn the bonus for this word -- and somewhere proud of my past life, but I want to turn a page, and I cannot. I spent two hours -- maybe more, but I do not count time, when I have some fun -- Saturday at Facebook to create a fake profile and do some friends' requests. I used a disposable email, so I will not see any improbable friend request, and I am not sure to keep this one active, except for small tasks. Why a train driver ? I had two dreams when I was a child : to be Superman or a train driver. I have sadly developed no super-power, so I have chosen the train driver for my "Fakebook". I think it is more credible.

Hi topffler, Loved reading the post. Fate or fortune or destiny never go the same direction for all people. When the set target is not achieved we tend to become lackadaisical about life. We take up a different mode of life - fully antithetical to what you had cherished. What happened to your hope and expectations have not happened to me and I am not thinking of living another life. Since my school I wanted to be college professor and after my post graduation applied for my kind of job and applied at a few places. And accordingly I sat before the panel of experts and was interviewed. I was luck I guess that I topped the chart and now I am asst, professor. Happy becoming what I wished to become.

Hiya tops, Great imagination you put into this. I don´t know what to say really. I do like the Facebook Account thing you have done there though. What a sense of humour you have been hiding away there have´nt you? Me I don´t think you are a failure no is ever a failure not for me anyway. We can´t all be famous and rich but we can be ourselves can´t we? Or can´t we. Well I won´t go on here but all in all yes I have wanted to be a Ballet Dancer, an Ice Skater like Irina Slutskaya and so on an Actress like some of them on the Television. Have I created another Imaginary life not yet because I thought I was quite happy with the one I have got at the moment. But for those that invent them I think that´s great and yes I knew a lot of Facebook Accounts were like that as well but it bothers me not. Hope you enjoy living this imaginary life of yours a lot.xxx

Hello loviangelsinstead, I am not sure that it is compatible with my new FB train driver profile, but if you create your ballet dancer profile, I would be pleased to testify how you are good in Giselle's "pas de deux". At least you confess that you can someday create a fake account. What I find funny in this discussion, is that quite all responders are saying that they will never do it... even those who have already done it. In fact I am sure that FB is perfectly aware about the large number of fake accounts. I also created this profile to use it with some task sites : I would never have done this with a personal account. Have a nice day.

Hi topffer I was deleting my FB account right a few moments ago and here I find you mentioning your train driver account... Hmmm I believe I should now create one where I portray myself as a TTE (I am not sure why they call the Ticket Checking guys as TTEs here) and join the team I have never created a fake account recently though when I was young on the Internet, I did have a few that went by the names - Pirate,(because I am scared of water) Alien (because I always wanted to be out in the space). Right now, I have just one dream... (be healthy and) spread happiness and smiles around.

Hi topffer, because of my erratic internet connection today, I could not respond to your discussion. Weellll, I could, but I kind of lost it while the connection comes on intermittently. So, Train Driver, huh?? Is that your secret dream? Or your dream as a kid? Do I get a concession fare when I get on your train then? Wait....may be we went to school together....come to think of it, I vaguely remember a geeky kid in my class. That was you?? Small world, huh?? Remember that gay teacher we had??? If you can lie, so can I. Frankly, I don't know what I would do with a fake FB account. Oops...run out of emoticons....

I perfectly remember you zralte, and you are already among my new friends -- now, you will have a doubt -- : I made requests only among people who went in my school. well, apparently the reason why i share everything about my self is the fact i'm annonymous, and I hate my life at this moment. My facebook account is kinda public but I only use it to post pictures of my self. Do i dream of another life..... well I think i was born too early. i should have been born in an era were technology is science fictiony awesome, a future were humans figured out to save the planet earth. I also wish i was super handsome and doesnt look like a criminal, i would have been a star touring around the world making the panties of women drop to their pants.

The interest of myLot is that we are anonymous. I read your discussion about your job. Actually I do not hate my life but I am bored. I always had a very low interest in Facebook and I do not like the idea to give personal informations to complete strangers : I know nobody at Facebook and I wanted to cancel my account since I saw The Social Network. I read that 40% of accounts were fake at Facebook and I created mine Saturday. With the new nuclear accident in Japan, I am not sure that the earth has really a future : it is the 3rd in 30 years, just too much and we can see a very serious one for the future of this planet tomorrow, so, do not wait : you can create a fake superstar today on Facebook.

My life is the humanization of the word boring, its a routine, Thank goodness there are videogames and I would have been insane. I have a girlfriend but she is kinda not my dream girl is but I do love her but we are like the generic boring couple. This is not the life I dreamed of for sure. Hello Mrs Hatley, Have you tried to send your manuscripts to some publishers/editors ? If you keep them for you, they have no chance to be printed. Publishers are reading what you send to them : make a list of those that you think able to publish you and send them a copy of your writings. I wish you to be soon a published author.

There are a lot of fake Facebook accounts most especially those of celebrities'. They just wanna have a lot of friends that's why they're doing that in my opinion. I don't get how Facebook will ever maintain this identity theft conflict. With my life right now I can't ask for more. I wouldn't wanna live another life.

Hello,I found it's very interseting to discuss something here ,I m a new mylotter. I just thought about my life this morning,so I like your topic very much. Yesterday I took an exam of English Interpretation,I m a chinese girl, once very shy to talk to my foreign teacher, but later I take great interest in learning English. What I thought today is that why I want to learn it,I remember someone said"Learning English, you'll know a bigger world."I think it's the very reason. Actually,I m keen on learning more about the world,I want to visit different places ,to know different people, maybe as a volunteer. But very often,I m just not brave enough to change my life,I have to find a job,to earn money,to smile to the people I don't like. I will graduate ,so before I take a job,i will try my best to do the things I like first.
