Sometimes I get myself confused on what I really want in life. And maybe that's one reason why I can't achieve anything. Sometimes I will start on something but never end up finishing them because of some uncertainty. Some say that if you know what you really want in life, you'll do anything to make it happen. How about you? Do you know what you really want in life? Please share how you determined that that's the one and how you fulfilled it, Thanks!

hello wheng, That's true,if you really know what you want to do with your life, there is not way you can't achieve it. You have/need/must and should focus on one particular thing you want to achieved. Take one step at a time and be specific. Don't keep starting one and leave unfinished. You will feel satisfaction once you've done or achieved something. You will feel proud of yourself either. just try to finish and achieved one of your goals and you will understand how proud you will be

I know what I want in life. I want family. My own family has abandoned me and stripped me of everything I had achieved in life thus far. Now, I'm starting over and I would like to have a family of my own and do things right by them. I think that achieving that goal will be a life long journey for me. Because even when I do get to the point where I might have a child... there is still raising of the child and being there for them through all that I can. I'm also fighting for custody of my oldest child right now (another thing my family ripped out of my hands) so that's another goal of mine.

I think we have the same problem.I wanted too much in life that I cannot focus on a single goal. I tend to be interested with a lot of things and change my mind everytime. Like I wanted to go back to school but I cannot because I'm confused which one to take up. So there, one thing you should first think about is what is best thing you like out of all the things your areinterested with. this willamkeiteasir for you to take steps towards getting whatyou like in life. I also tend to start doing things without finishing them. We have a lot of things in common lol. Are you a Gemini?

Hi! Nope, I'm not a Gemini, but I'm one confused Virgo, lol! Thanks, that's a good one. I understand the feeling of getting too excited to try everything but end up frustrated, lol!

i know what i want but like you ive always taken little steps and then hold back and start all over again, having achieved nothing closer to what i want. i can really be ambitious but you know, more than anything, i just want to have my own family, be a wife, and a loving mom. and that is something i cannot really work on unless fate has it in store for me. so until then, il just concentrate on doing good in the career i chose and see if having a family is for me.

It is a tough question for me. I find I have so many interest that sometimes I wish that all the interest would go away, and I focus on one thing and do it very well and be able to share that gift with the rest of the world. But alas, it is not to be, so I end up changing what I want over and over again, becoming a jack of many trades and a sore loser at all. This question makes me sad....but thanks for raising it so I can now hide in my room and reflect more...

tiffnkeat, I am just like you except that mine is not interest but ideas. There are just too many things going around in my head right now and that makes me confused and unsure of what to do. Yes, of course there are things that we want to do in our lives, but sometimes we are just unsure of how to go about doing it. Am I right on this?

We want happyness, we want wealth, we want power. But actually what we want we don't know. All the mentioned above make me popular, people may obay us. but what actually happends with us, nothing. And hence the truth comes. We want peace.

Peace is the only requirement which gives everything. But we do not be satisfied. we increase our needs by setting goals and try to achieve them an thereby we lose.

I am pretty much the same way myself. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up (and I am 51)!!! I was never able to hold a job for more than a year or two for the most part, although in one instance I did last for 6 with much difficulty. I either don't get along with the people or I just don't like the work or I'm not fast enough. Now that I am on disability due to cancer I am not working at all. I was most recently working in China teaching English. I liked doing that, but I didn't really know what I was doing so I wasn't really all that great with it. I am hoping that I can get into some kind of volunteer work instead of having to go back into a paid position unless I can get something people related.

Hi, I'm on my early fifties and would you believe that I still wanted to study? Yes I wanted to study to finish a certain course that I like; I'm an undergraduate and now I'm waiting for the examination result so I can go back to school again. It's a scholarship program offered by a company at which I'm connected. I hope the result is positive. This is really what I want in my life.

Hi,whengcat! I think we all get confused sometimes. Those who know exactly what they want for their lives are incredibly lucky. But I'm trying my best to hang on to my dreams.I really don't wanna regret when I get older and find myself drifting away from my original dreams. Funny thing is that I was just talking to a guy this afternoon. He said he wanted to open a small store and live his life peacefully when he was younger. But now he is following the others, trying to find a stable job. My parents are always trying to talk me into pursuing a good and stable job.Like being a civil servant or something. And I get confused too because sometimes I think what if they are right, what if I grow older and find the only desire I have is to have a peaceful life, getting back from work at the same time everyday and preparing meals for my kid and my loved one?But I don't think I'm a girl who wants this kind of lives and I want to fight.I don't know if I will get confused later on,but at least at this moment,I know I wanna be a freelancer and travel around the world. So I'm gonna work on that. Good luck finding your purpose in life. It's true that if you set your mind to it,you will do a marvelous job. Have a nice day,my friend!

Hi, whengcat, I don't think that we all fully will know what we want from life, i believe that there are many things that we do want but we can't really say what all the things are. This is only because we never know what the future holds, something new may happen and we may then want that, but as for now, the present, then we can really say what we want. I guess i woulod say that i would like to keep the job i have, it doesn't pay well but i get job satisfaction, i want to eventually meet someone and get married to her and settle as a family. I want to be able to have more money, i won't switch jobs and so i guess i will cross my fingers for the lottery, . I would want to stay healthy and live a long life, see my kids grow up and get married, but none of these are certaintys. I guess i wll just take each day as it comes really.

If the mind thinks something is good and positive one day, on the next day, or a few days, it can so easily reverse its opinion effecting the feeling and enthusiasm. As a therapist and Zen practitioner, I recognize this happens to nearly everybody's mind - it is the way it is structured. The only antidote to this, is to work out what is wanted in life, check that it's achievable and then commit to doing what it takes regardless of what feelings the mind and emotion throws into consciousness. It is a challenge, but all things that we want are. _Derek

For me, the bottom line is that I want stability and security for my family. For me, this means that I have to work hard and continue to push myself forward, doing whatever I can possibly do to reach my goal. I have always known what my bottom line is, there has never been a question for me about what I really want out of my life. THe problem for me has been finding the means to get there. I have worled several jobs in my life in which I was someone else's employee. At each and every job I had, I can remember thinking how I was working to make someone else's dream a reality. After the last time I was laid-off from a job, my journey really began. I decided that it was time to begin being my own boss and building my own business and having my own employees. I not only want to reach my goal of stability and security for my family, I also want to help others by being able to offer them a job. I have not reached that point yet, my business is still quite small with me as the owner/operator all by myself, but I know that I am headed in the right direction. I am taking very small steps to achieve my goals because as I move forward to the next step, I want to be certain that the first one is strong and secure. It may take me several years, but with my determination, I know that I will reach my goals.

Hi wheng, I'm on the same page as you. I can't seem to decide on what I should become either. I feel like I'm not really serious with my life right now. I'm currently just experimenting with things, and I love it. But what I hate about myself is I don't have that much will to stick with anything. Sooner or later, I should be able to make a decision with myself, but right now, I don't think I can.. Or rather, I don't think I willingly would. Not right now, I guess.

Seems preatty simple but I learned how the only thing I want is just to be happy. Have a few laughs a day, feel good. That's just it. Cause it haven't been like this, and this is the only thing I want.

Hello, whengcat. I will graduate from university now, and I always feel it's hard to make a choice as I don't know what kind of job I really want to do.I don't like to look into the future,as I think it's full of changes that we cannot achieve what we want. Though I don't have a long-term plan and I very appreciate the thinking of living in the present, I try my best not to kill time ,and to keep busy for a short-term plan.Actually, when you have done something, you are building your future, and you'll find the way clearer. There are some suggestions for u: 1,If you don't know what to do ,just do the things you have to do and do it well, you'll feel happy and energetic. 2,As a economist says,if you are devoted to one thing, you'll eventually take interest in it.Maybe like love,If you are dating with someone,as long as you not hate him/her,you'll eventually like or even love him/her.hehe~my own opinion. 3,Maybe you need someone ,a supervisor,to guide you and check you whether you have done the things in time. I have a good tutor, and the pressure each time I feel when I have to hand in the homework gradually turns me into a little expert in the field. 4,When you cannot keep on working, just take a rest and watch some inspring movies to recharge your battery. It's also work to imagine how the one you respect most would do the things ,will he give up? In closing,Wish you a best future.
