yeah, i found it to be a distraction as well. because when i am studying and researching, i also open face book, and play some games, this can eat up time as well. facebook is distraction, and i try as much as possible not to open it when i am studying, but sometimes i still open it.

Not only do I find it distracting, it also causes people to just say about everything - too much information! I think we should limit our use on Facebook. I know there are privacy and stuff, but we must learn to keep things private - I'm not just talking about sensitive information, but also about our thoughts. It seems that the site motivates people to just be vulgar and no longer control their thoughts. Which in the end causes a lot of trouble and destruction in relationships.

Not for me personally, but Facebook is most certainly a distraction for many people in this world and on the Internet. Not just for school granted, but for many things. There are people who are on Facebook(and really other social networking websites), when they should be working on work. The same thing is really about school in general as well. I think that if students prioritize correctly, then Facebooking should be fine. Providing they really do things that they need to be done first. When I was a child or even at teenager, there were not many rules, but one of the big one's was that I had to get my homework done first. My parents had the right idea, as we tend to get distracted by the fun stuff. If you intend to be on something for an hour, it is rarely an hour.

Yeah. I've found myself on facebook even though I should be doing other things like studying. I don't stay on for that long unless I am IMing someone. So I'm normally only on for a half hour to an hour. I like the newsfeed a lot.

I think we should know our self better. We are in the mid of all aboundance and a lot of freedom infront of us. Now our choice is important. If we are in the right move and right choice there are a chances of higher levels of wins and growth. So, decide what is good and what is not and what to do and what should not. Everything has its own time and if we take the right thing right time with right preference, they are the excellent people. Now the choice is your's. Facebook is here for ever and such other thing also. But when you spend the your precious and valuable, limited time substituted with facebook, you may have to suffer a lot. So I don't tell you not to use facebook. But limit the timing for it and give preference to study. Facebook and do anything, but if you study it will be for you and NO ONE else can do it for you. So just remember that whatever you do is for you - may be it is good or bad. Thank-s

I do, however, it doesn't remove the fact that it is more useful to my study than it is not. Facebook has become an integral part in a students life. It just depends on how you use it. I personally only use it to contact my classmates and friends to chat and get updates about schoolwork and my environment. I rarely use it to play games and scan for people I don't know (These I think are the major reasons of wasting time).

As for me, Facebook has been always be a distraction for me...I can tell you that I will be sneaking into Facebook even when I am writing this response! Frankly, I can say that I sneak into Facebook for almost in every 5 minutes interval and no one in this world can deny the fact that Facebook can sometimes be addicting... Nevertheless, I believe no one should be too addicted to Facebook, until you abandon all other offline activities that you might consider doing, especially studying...Take time between studying for Facebook (and MyLot!), and not the other way around... Study is very important for your future, and you will never want to look back and regret your decision to surf Facebook and not studying... I believe that everyone of us should practice self-control and prioritize their everyday chores...It is important so that we are not using Facebook as our self-destruct button...

I usually do. I even find myself going on it at school just to check upon some things. And I envy the poeple who have it on their phones.

well, I think it depends from person to person. As for me, I sneak on my facebook through my mobile and its not a distraction at all. I know a few people who skipped meals just for facebook. Thats real distraction.

Yeah facebook can be a distraction for your studies. You just got to keep in mind that entertainment and studies are equally important. So, spend time in facebook without forgetting about your studies.

Hi ysaudie and welcome to myLot! Yes facebook and or any online social networking site can b a major distraction. So much so that we can be on for a few minutes which later turns into hours on in. Try and concentrate at the tasks at hand because facebook and other sites will be there after exams. So do well and wish you all the best on myLot. Oh and quick tip, soon myLot too will be a huge distraction also, once you dive in and find how great all of us are. LOL See you around the Lot!
