Their eMail system was hacked into over the weekend & now anybody doing business with the companies listed below are at risk!!! Some of the companies affected by this attack are Walgreens, Best Buy,Citigroup/Citibank,TiVo, Marriott, US Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Disney, Home Shopping Network, & many, many MORE!!! So, BEWARE!!! Some of this seems to be common sense to me; but it seems there are still people who fall for many scams!!! The hacker now has the names along with corresponding eMail addresses for most of these companies customers. So, if you receive an eMail telling you that you need to click on a link & sign into your account in order to protect your account, JUST DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!! They may also use many other tricks to try & steal your information. So far today I've received 2 emails from 2 of the companies on the list telling me to beware. If you've been forewarned by any of these companies, how do you plan on handling it???

My email is with 3 of those companies and I'm rather put out about the whole thing. I hate dealing with spam! But hackers are getting better and better and this is something we all need to admit that we'll have to deal with--no company can protect itself completely, at least not at the moment. I'll just throw the crap into the trash when it arrives. I expect to get a lot more spam from people who think I'm stupid enough to believe my sister is stranded in London or that a princess needs money held for her and will pay me millions to do it.

What puts me off about this whole situation is that I did NOT give my email address to Epsilon & would NOT have done so!!! I gave my email address to a company I trusted to protect me & my information!!! Since Epsilon is set up to be the "expert" company taking care of critical information, I do expect them to stay on top of their security!!! Now, if any one of those particular companies had their system hacked, I would have thought nothing of it as their business is not computer security. However, Epsilon should be MORE aware of their security system as they were pretty much being entrusted with 95% of the country's populations personal information!!! If either company I've been dealing with had asked for my permission to give my info to Epsilon, I would have declined. The more I think about it the madder I get at the 2 companies with which I entrusted my information. I may close my internet account with both of them & just go back to shopping at their store. Internet shopping is convenient, but NOT required!!!!

I heard about this on our local news channel. I have not seen any of these emails in my inbox so far. I hope that I am not one of those people in jeopardy either. I have enough problems to deal with as it is.

Interestingly enough, the email I read just before this was from AirMiles, saying they'd been hacked... They gave all the standard precautions, as well as warning of a possible deluge of spam.
